Oh, SWOOON! It was the best one of the Colorado Mountain series! Incredible! Loved Ty and Lexie and the epilogue was the BOMB! ROCKED!

I really enjoyed this book. The Colorado Mountain Series books are all lengthy and contain lots of problems for the protagonists. This book seemed a bit padded to add that extra length, but the story was excellent and delved more into the corruption in the Carnal Police Department. The story of Ty Walker who was framed due to this corruption was front and center. I found the story contrivance of the "car accident" and the couple's immediate reconciliation a little hard to swallow, but the rest of the story was well thought out and very satisfying.
Alexa is sent to pick up Ty from prison and is instructed to follow his instructions. Ty was set up by bad cops and wants revenge with a vengance until he mets and convinces Lex to marry him until his 'shit' is done. This is another awesome read by Kristen Ashley. Complex, gritty and funny. This story just keeps going and even in the end you don't want it to end. Kristen makes you want to live in this world, with these great people with rich character, they aren't perfect and they feel really real. Only thing that I really didn't get is a childless couple and the man calling her 'Mama'. Bugged me every time but that's just me.

Lexie is roped into picking up an ex-con the day of his release. Taciturn to extremes, Ty doesn’t fill her in on his plans, but they include getting revenge for the 5 years he spent in prison after a wrongful conviction. Getting married to Lexie is part of that plan. Fake marriage! What could go wrong?
Ok and so here is where the cons of reading an Ashley book really start to kick in for me. The obsessive descriptions of clothes, houses, jewelry, etc. The inability of people to speak in complete sentences. And more than anything else, the dang pacing.
What starts off as a hot forbidden attraction kind of thing is immediately transformed almost overnight into a devoted relationship. It’s jarring, it’s a little unbelievable, and it makes the external plot suffer, because there really isn’t much of one. So it’s a lot of Lexie and Ty setting up house and having sex and making friends and having sex and meeting each other’s family and having sex, etc. etc. Honestly, I was bored. The whole quest for vengeance kind of gets put on the back burner for most of the book, until an avalanche of events near the end. The book could have been 200 pages shorter and would have been much better for it. 3 stars, only because the pace picks up at the end and I got into it again.

At the end of this book I still don't really know why Lex didn't get out of the situation she was in a heap earlier (but only a little... and truth be told if she hadn't she'd never had met Ty and had a very good ending)
Ty is a poster child for 'brooding uncommunicative hottie' but oh my!! ::stops to fan herself. He had a lot of 'mental baggage' to get over but it was definitely worth doing so and at least he acknowledged quite quickly that he had a short-circuit between his temper and his mouth and learnt his lesson (I loved the analogy of her shedding light around her and shutting it down).
The bad guys were not hidden in the least in this one and it was great to have that particular story arc tied off.

First the bad.
There are a couple of places in the story that tend to ramble.
This seems to be a Kristen Ashley trait as she loves to give great detail information about the surroundings of her characters.
So even though I list it as bad, it is also good. You easily visualize the surroundings and the supporting characters in each story of hers you read.
Lexie and Ty are awesome characters and you are immediately drawn into their story.
The suspense in this one is well depicted and has some great tense moments.
However, I felt there were some crucial moments that were a bit rushed and other areas that could have been sped up. This is my reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.
There is loads of snark and attitude.
I love the words that come out of Lexie's mouth.
Here is one of my favorites.
“Ty, it comes down to it, I’ll be lying to dirty cops, and everyone knows a double negative is a positive.”
There is also plenty of adult steamy romance. Lexie and Ty set the pages on fire.
It's official. I am addicted to Kristen Ashley books.

Lady Luck
4 Stars
Lady Luck has never looked kindly upon Lexie Berry, but a life of hardship has made her resilient in the face of adversity. This is a good thing as Lexie is going to need every ounce of courage and determination to cope with the new challenge in her life - Ty Walker, an ex-convict seeking revenge against those who imprisoned him for a crime he did not commit.
Kristen Ashley’s writing style and language are usually a shock to the system, but in this installment of the Colorado Mountain series it is even more startling albeit not necessarily in a bad way. That said, if crude domineering alpha males and wild, snarky heroines are not your thing, then Lady Luck is not the book for you.
Lexie is somewhat different from Ashley’s customary heroines as she is not a 100% good girl and has had her share of wild times. However, the fact that she has experienced a darker side of life makes her all the more appealing and the perfect match for Ty. Moreover, her loving nature and powerful sense of loyalty are just what he needs to come back from the abyss that he is rapidly approaching.
Ty’s personality is not for the faint of heart. Unjustly incarcerated, he is consumed with the need to clear his name and exact vengeance on those who wronged him. Not only does he have an appallingly crass attitude toward women, but he is not shy about expressing his opinions in exceedingly harsh and hurtful ways. Thankfully, Lexie is not about to put up with his obnoxiousness and show more forces him to grovel (which he does really well, I might add).
The corrupt cops storyline is one of the darker and more gripping of Ashley’s suspense plots and there are moments when the outlook for both Ty and Lexie is exceedingly dire. Alls well that end well though, and the epilogue is a masterpiece as usual.
The next book is Faye and Chace’s and the glimpses we get of their characters has me eager ro get to it sooner rather than later. show less

4.5 stars! Another hit! Sweet Dreams is still in the number 1 slot, but in this one you do get to hear a lot more about Tate, Lauren, Nina, Max and gang from Bubba's and La La Land! Their connections weave together pretty tightly. I seriously want to move to Carnal, Colorado! Some of the subject matter was a little rough but overall Ty is a doll and Lexie is a "goof" but I liked her! The epilogue made me smile the whole way through!
I've been loving the Colorado Mountain series, and LADY LUCK is no exception. However, this book started bringing out the alpha-male cant that I find so thick and distracting in later Ashley books. I'm worried about book 4 now...
Wow. What can I say? Kristen Ashley keeps delivering steamy love stories with an edgy twist. I was a bit unsure in the beginning, but KA spun her magic and the plot unfolded in a way I could get behind. Ty was wronged so horribly and Lexie's past was heartbreaking, but together they made an excellent pair. I had a little trouble suspending belief that Lexie wasn't more affected by her past and the people on the outer rim of her life in Texas, but there was so many other things to like about this that it didn't matter.
It was awesome to see Tate and Laurie again, as well as a few other from previous books. Lexie made me smile...a lot...with her goofy sentimental antics. She was exactly what Ty needed to help battle his demons. I'm three for three on "ugly cries" in this series and I was ready to kill a few people myself before this was over.
There is something about these characters, especially the men, that despite the raunchy mouths and bad attitudes, I can't help but grow attached to them. The guys always have a sense of nobility about them and the women are thoroughly dedicated to their men. Sometimes the girls are a little "too" perfect, but I'm willing to suspend belief and live the fantasy for a good plot and this one had it. I'll be moving on to read book four!

Every time I'm reading KA's book ( which is a lot evidently), halfway through the book I'm thinking - to much information!!!!! It's almost tidies! Edit! Cut some stuff out!! And then I cross over to the other side and i'm so THERE. Can't stop reading. And when I close the book, all I want is MORE.
They are over the top, unrealistic and even, well, boring at some points. But sooooo addictive! And fun! Which is just fine by me :)

This had a lot of good and a lot of not so good. I enjoyed Ty and Lexie. I enjoyed their relationship and their banter and their journey. I enjoyed how in this book we saw more than Lexie's point of view. It was refreshing to see Ty fall for Lexie from his perspective. It was easier to see how much he loved her since we got to see things from his point of view.
But there was a lot going on. And a lot of times, there ended up being what seemed like pages of monologue as someone explained something. So it made the book drag in many places. However, this was a good way to introduce the next mountain man. I am curious to read about Chace's story now.

Very much like the two previous books in the Colorado Mountain series - just a shame that this is read by the same narrator, Emma Taylor - she's good, but makes me mix up the characters in the 3 books as she uses the same voice for the women and the men in the novels - more than that, the same quirks in the way she uses her voice - disorientating and unsatisfying. I'm not a fan of one narrator dominating a series or worse still, an author.
I want Ty and Lexie to stand alone in the way they are brought to life through narration - to have their own individuality.
These books are great, but they remind me of Charles Dickens' books - good yarns, but episodic and very very long.
This audiobook is 22 hours long! Way better to make it 2-3 books!

I enjoyed this, just not as much as the first two in the series. I think mostly because the romance was not as front and center here. The parts I liked best were the parts where the romantic relationship was being worked out, even when Ty was being an ass; that was good riveting reading. I do have to say that I was uncomfortable with the way that Ty referred to his wife as 'pussy and bitch'. I know that may just be me because I have very sensitive knee jerk reactions to men disrepecting women and this just hit it pretty hard.
Other problems I had were: I'm really getting tired of everyone talking without using pronouns. I mentioned it in my review of [b:Sweet Dreams|11227040|Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2)|Kristen Ashley|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51d67A3D1sL._SL75_.jpg|16152935]. When one character talks that way, it adds to individualized characterization. When everyone talks that way, I have trouble a) telling characters apart and b) I have trouble suspending disbelief because I know that in reality very few people talk that way (except in Portugal where dropping pronouns is an integral part of the language, but I digress) and c) it pulls me out of the story trying to parse the sentences. Another problem is that the guys sometimes talk so cryptically that I h ad trouble knowing just what it was that they were doing about trying to get Ty cleared of his criminal sentence. It was just a bit smoke and mirrors to say that "Tate was working on it."
Also I show more think having part of the story in Lexie's first person POV and part in Ty's third person POV didn't really work as well as the lovely 1st person POV from Laurie in Sweet Dreams. I would have preferred either all of one or all of the other. I did like having Ty's view point, so I think that switching POVs was fine they just needed to both be in the same tense.
Still even though I'm only giving it 3 stars, I did enjoy it and am looking forward to reading the rest of this author's work. show less

I skipped this one on accident, just clean forgot about it until I tried to read Breathe and got crazy confused, so I bought this one to read. I was a little iffy about it, but it worked. Lexie was hilarious, she was so sweet and spunky even though her life was not so great, ever. She was a fantastic foil to Ty's seriousness. I was glad to see Carnal get cleaned up and be free of the dirty cops that riddled the place, and glad to see Fuller get what was coming to him, I hated him in Sweet Dreams such an ass. Julius was crazy sneaky, but his plot to get Ty and Lexie back together after their split was so evil! I had my heart in my throat while that was working out.
I also loved that Ty and Lexie pretty much start out married which forced them into a sort of emotional intimacy very quickly. This book is on par with KA's usual work, and I enjoyed it.

Wow, this book held quite a ride. Often the lead or couple have only one big hurdle to conquer in order to reach their bliss. Ty and Lexi had loads of ups and downs. I totally understand the title because everything was a gamble. They would have some great and then horrible would be thrown at them. The best part about this story for me is that it made me feel so much. I love when a book plays on my emotions. Also, Ty is pretty damn hot. :)
Lady Luck seemed very different from The Gamble or Sweet Dreams, but I think this is solely due to the dialect change in shifting to bit of a thug language throughout the story. I have several moments that I was rereading a sentence more than once to make sure that I was understanding what the author meant to say. This story was a bit of melding pot from square one. Lexie and Ty are intense and brutal to the emotions. Each one of these books seemed to have a running theme The Gamble was all about support and dedication, Sweet Dreams was about healing wounds and moving forward, Lady Luck's theme seemed to surround honesty and truth. I loved it! From the start the honesty and truth pulls these two characters together naturally. Ty is half African American and known in highly criminal circles, this brought a danger to this story that has been unknown to the previous story lines. While Lexie is no stranger to this world either; she is hell bent on staying a shadow until she can separate herself completely. What begins as a well laid plan, in which Lex will receive the money and the force to separate herself from the dangerous circle in exchange for marrying Tyrelle Walker for as long as it takes him to resolve some unfinished business turns into a romance like no other. Ultimately, little did she know when she agreed to this plan that the man she was agreeing to work with was the man of her dreams. Also, that he had just spent five years in prison for a crime he did not show more commit. This author impressed me further with this novel by her ability to write about a relationship that conversation is minimal. Everything deep and romantic was shown through body language and unspoken messages. It was intense to say the least, and I was beside myself in the heartbreak fight scene. Everything about this book is brutal and powerful; leaving me overwhelmed with my own emotions while reading. As for the melding pot that I mentioned earlier this book includs all of our earlier characters, and was an impressive display of friendship and trust between them all. I love how Ashley wraps up every one of her books giving a glimpse at the future of our characters, but I did feel mildly overwhelmed by the amount of extras at the end of this particular story. I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book with Chance and Faye. This is yet another BookWhisperer Favorite from one of our BookWhisperer Favorite Authors!

I adored the heroine, the hero grew on me and the supporting characters were generally interesting. Probably would have given it 4 starts if it had had better editing (not just talking about grammar here, although that's a factor, but story editing--sweet dog, cutting the number of cooking and decorating asides alone would have helped greatly and the sudden POV shifts at the end were really jarring).
I absolutely loved this story and all the great characters, but I did have a slight problem with some of the language used lol. I am not a prude, but there are some words I would rather not see in print. Other than that small point, I loved this book. It is a great love story but it is also a story about true friendship and family.
I am moving straight on to the next book in the series 'Breathe'.
It is such a great experience to read book that does not have the last 10% of the book devoted to promoting other books. The end of Kristen Ashley's books are the actual end.

I liked this one a lot, but I still have trouble with Ms. Ashley's way of writing dialogue. It's choppy and she doesn't use a lot of pronouns. But she does infuse a lot of emotion into each interplay between characters, and that does help in understanding what is going on. Anyway, the story was engaging and I really enjoyed it.
Lady Luck engrossed me from the beginning and captivated me till the end. I ran through a gambit of emotions right along side the characters. Kristen Ashley hits the mark again with Lady Luck, a book that touches your heart strings and it has SUPER ALPHA MALES to boot :D. I'm thinking Ashley should try highlanders, kilt wearing alpha's are needed eventually...

Ohhh my TY!
When you walked out of that prison and walked into my life I fell in love with you. You were EVERYTHING that I want and ALL that I need! I found this story adorable and once again found myself falling COMPLETELY in LOVE with Kristen Ashley and everything about her. This book took me to places I have not been in a while (Ok I lie since the last time that I read a Kristen Ashley book). I just want to know why no one told me about Kristen Ashley before because if all the men are this great (even when they piss me off) then I will find myself falling in love even more!
I also LOVED the fact that this book contained characters from both the first and second book since we did not see that in the second one!
BRILLIANT!

Good story, could have used better editing though. Can see the author likes use of the word "tagging" - a lot. Seemed like the scene with the villain was fairly similar to the previous book. Overall though, I love the characters and town. Have been sucked in and will read the next one!
Another Kristen Ashley book makes it in my top favorite books of all time!! Lexie and Ty are both people who know hurt, pain and life struggles. They found each other and ended up in love. It took sometime to get there and they had to fight for Ty's freedom, name and their relationship.
Great book with great characters!!

So freaking good!!!
This might just be my favorite KA book! Ty is another great KA hero and I completely fell in love with Lexie. She is strong and funny and not the least bit wishy-washy. Made for a refreshing read I didn't want to put down!

As always a fantastic read...humor, intrigue and just a good old romance with real people with real flaws
WOW , amazing how you can finish a book and want WAYYY MORE OF Ty and Lex . KA has done it again and this one to me topped them ALL so far I do believe .
Ty Walker was wrongly imprisoned and for the five years he was inside, he honed his plan so when he gets out, he has nothing but vengeance on his mind.
But then he walks straight to stylish, leggy, beautiful, goofy Lexie Berry and he suddenly has something else to think about. He knows within seconds he wants her and within days he can love her but with the filth that was flung at him clinging; he also knows he can’t have her.
Since birth, Lexie Berry has been Lady Luck’s favorite toy and because of that, Lexie is cautious. But within a day, she senses Ty is something special. With her luck, however, she can’t trust it. Then she finds out what was done to Ty and she’s willing to do anything to make it right.
Even what Ty will never forgive her for doing.
Ty clings to vengeance and Lexie goes all out to give him back the time he lost. But Ty is battling demons within and they’re up against dirty cops and criminals who will stop at nothing to sway Lady Luck against them. All Ty and Lexie have is hope Lady Luck will finally swing their way.
I love the Plot of this story line, because honestly this kinda thing everyday in out world . Men are sent to prison for something they did not do and are dealt with things outta their control all the time .
to sit in a jail cell for 5 yrs and do nothing but plan out your vengeance show more is not unheard of at all . I truly felt for Ty going through that .
Ty is just amazing. I am totally in love with this man. And MAN being the word, that he is. God, beautiful man... He Had me right from the moment he walked outta that prison and asked for the keys to the car. Bold, in charge nothing held back with this Alpha Male ... I knew from the get go I was gonna LOVE this man . The diamonds right of the bat, the sweet little note left on the pillow, right down to the sweet little calling Lex mamma .. I was melting and melting bad ..
My Ty
their sex scenes OMG Wanted more and more and more .........
“"No, Ty, you drew it when one second you had your tongue in my mouth, your hands on me and me on my back in your bed and swear to God, swear to God, that was all you had to do, I was this close," she lifted a hand and held her thumb and forefinger an inch apart, "to climax just with that and the next second you took it all away from me. All of it and you fucking know exactly what I'm talking about because the next second I was standing on my feet, you were two feet away but you might as well still have been in fucking California and then I watched you shut down."”
Lexie had it rough growing up...quite honestly she had it rough up until she met Ty Walker! Even having it as rough as she did and Lady Luck slapping her wrist every time she tries to reach for something good she was still a beautiful woman and I'm not talking about her appearance. She had the inner beauty of an angel, the inner beauty of a person anyone would be lucky to have in their life! The moment she met Ty she knew she was all in and there was nothing going to hold her back from that hunk of a man .
My Lexie
“Right. Love you, Ty."
"Done to my bones, mama, right back at you.”
I absolutely LOVED this epilogue .. It truly made my heart melt and it was sooo long I loved, loved , loved it ......
If you have not read this you need to , you need to see how much Ty has and How much Lex has to offer .. it truly is an amazing read .... KA knocked it out again with the Male alpha and she did it fantastically .......... show less

KA knocked it out again with the Male alpha and she did it fantastically .......... show less
I don't know why, but I didn't like this one as much as some of the others. It just didn't grab me. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't love it either.
Ty and Lexie.
This is such an emotional book. It really pulls on the heart strings.
Ty is a big quiet type. Lexie is happy and positive, a ray of sunshine.
No cheating.
Both have had bad experiences due to previous 'relationships'.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine but exes of both are discussed.
