This book is entirely too verbose. It's even longer than the last one and took even longer to get interesting. The series could have been much more tightly edited and still convey the same information.
Halfway through. Tedious. Find the details of why this book is so terrible by reading all the one star reviews on Amazon. They are more interesting than the book itself. Perhaps we just need a less than 100 page summary of This Book in order to proceed in the series
Once again the book improves quite a bit after 750 pages of reading but I am going to stand by my two star rating as the book is much too long and not well enough edited for the reader.
I give a 2-star for most of the book. Much of the the back story seems extraneous as well as many characters. The narrative did pick up around page 763.
Formulaic with too much campy monologue & dialogue. Mr. Flynn spends a lot of time grinning inwardly & outwardly. Moe stupid dialogue & grins
Antifreeze & paint? Fanciful? yes. Crazy? Dangerous? Definitely.
After reading The Man He Became I realized this is essentially the same material rewritten for a younger audience.
At least one too many twists on this one. I guess the first chapter should have alerted me to his leaning toward Pulp Fiction
He does indeed have a way with words and very vivid descriptions. I just wasn't that interested
Very well written & truly inspiring history of a famous man in the context of his time and associates.
Cute story of a dog anthropomorphized to conquer challenges. Wonderful illustrations
I especially like the illustrations of the people. The rest of it was very forgettable
Outlandish & rambling. I fell asleep three times during the process of listening to this book
Repetitive, sentimental look about aging with outlandish drawings
Some gruesomeness. I might have given this a five but it's hard to give this type of book that high a rating. I also knew fairly early on what the plot would be and I still enjoyed reading the development.
The most depressing book I have listened to. Over and over there are "Lessons Learned Interviews“ that show repeated lies and corruption for the entire duration of the war.
Apparently" "No Lessons Have Been Learned" since the Vietnam War. Even the withdrawal was done for political reasons without taking into account the Army's careful planning and timing
I like the illustrations but the content was horrendous
This might have been a really good book if I actually heard the whole thing. Some things didn't make sense and I realized at the end that I accidentally listened to The Abridged version. Unfortunately the audible book through the library system was The Abridged version and the full-length version was not available. I wonder how often they're doing this with other popular books. The unabridged version is a four-star book
This could have been a really good book if the various trees were actually identified and discussed in the book instead of the meaningless durable in the text
Clever fanfiction novelization of fairy tales. Could have been more tightly edited. The extended scenes of sentimentality, grandstanding & sidelines slowed the action & made the book entirely too long.
I'm still 2 hours from the end of the audiobook and they have the stupidest fight scene. You would have thought a bunch of unprepared children entered in a fight with a superior force and thought they even had a chance. Rate 4/5 for the series of 4 books
