About My Library

Books, films, music, theatre, gigs, concerts. More CultureThing than LibraryThing.

My ratings are best interpreted as a measure of the probability I will re-read the book or re-watch the film. 5* = almost certain, ½ * = very unlikely. For novels and films etc, this is also a measure of how much I enjoyed them. For non-fiction books, particularly those related to my work, the rating is a combination of how much I enjoyed the book and how useful I found it. On the one hand, a book that was excellent but only peripheral to whatever I was working on will get a low rating. On the other, there are books that I struggled with but have a high rating because they gave me useful insights.
