A collection and reprint of the 'Hard John Apple' saga. Hard John is a mercenary in a post-apocalyptic world, selling his services to either Prtstns or Catlicks, the two major factions left in the North American continent. Hard John is granted the former State of Kansas, but all the remaining powers of the world converge on Hard John, since Kansas is the last repository of a number of nuclear devices. Intrigues, double-crosses, a mutant ourangatan, and other chicanery take place, leading to a surprisingly poignant and hopeful ending. A lot of crude and broad humor overlay the serious story.
