Avatar takes place in a world divided up into four nations; Earth, Air, Fire and Water, at one point there was an Avatar who could control all four elements and unite the nations but they disappeared. Now the Fire Nation is slowly conquering the other nations when Water Nation siblings Sokka and Katara meet Aana, an Airbender and possibly the next Avatar.

This series is beautifully animated and creates a world with younger characters that a Middle School or High School child will see parts of themselves. One thing this series does well is that it works to present various cultures and show how they truly are different which adds to how much can be taken from it.

There is a measure of violence in Avatar but that's part of how it tells the honest story of war and occupation. The animation softens the violence as does the magic done by the Benders. A worthwhile series that improves throughout.… (more)
