About the Author
Iain Pears was born in England in 1955. He has worked as an art historian, a TV consultant and a journalist. After several years working for Reuters, he went to Yale University to complete his book on eighteenth-century British art entitled The Discovery of Painting. I was hoping for more incidental historical detail à la the Shardlake series. But this did give me a sense of the intrigues that no doubt happened as the country changed from a republic back into a kingdom.
