Halo: The Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund in Book talk (April 2023)

Reviews

All I can say is W.O.W.! I cannot believe how good this series is. Mr. Nylund challenges my imagination and my vocabulary while weaving a fabulous world that is the right mix of reality, mythology and his own whatever it is.
Here it comes--my one critisism--I found myself wishing that the two main characters, Fiona and Eliot were closer. They are twins that grew up with only themselves to talk to and lean on, but since I'm not a twin and don't know the complexities of that type of relationship, I can't complain too much.
This is one of those books that you nervously check to see how far you've gotten--because you know it won't be long enough, but thats the price we pay for reading series books. Also, its not like the author skimped on size, the book is over 700 pages for goodness sake!
I'm sure that like its predecessor, this one will end up on my Best of 2010 list, man this was good. I'm looking forward to many re-reads
Mr. Nylund will be joining the likes of Ilona Andrews, P. Briggs, Sanderson and Weeks on my favorite writers list.

Awesome stories that expand a lot further in detail than the actual game. Must have for any fan of the franchise.

A four for the Interesting backdrop, a three for the just ok characters, and a two at best for the plot. Enjoyed parts of it, but won't bother with the sequel they try to force you into.

Very classical litRPG with the addon that several "gods" play the "game" against each other. The MC is not a fan of his first "clan chef" and can get out of his claws. Nice one!
