John Cleese

Four stars might be a little too high, but this is a fun book, focusing mainly on Cleese's pre-Python exploits. I suppose he felt that the Python years had been sufficiently covered to avoid much talking about them, other than how he met various members. it would have been nice to have more from the Fish Called Wanda/Muppet Murder Mystery years, but honestly, the man could spin a yarn about anything and it would be enjoyable reading, though maybe not as fun as Palin's diaries.

Short as advertised, so in terms of advice or insight it’s fairly superficial. An easy listen on account of liking Cleese’s voice since I was a kid. The way he reads makes the whole thing seem conversational rather than written, so it’s very easy to digest. He even jokes at the end that it only takes an hour to read, so he’s not sure why he recorded an audio version, suggesting that maybe the listener “doesn’t know how to read.” That was a fun dig.

Well written. A nice easy read that gives you both theory and practice. I've read a lot on the subject and learned more than a few new things.
