I enjoyed the book, and thought I had a lot of great information. I wished that it went to a little bit more depth on some of the things, more exploration on the mentioned cultural habits, more information on technique, more focus on heat and hot environments, and about homeostasis in the body.

Excellent description of the various aspects of the trade in human body parts, children, and other aspects of humanity for sale. Chapters cover the sale of human bones (stolen from graves), kidneys and other organs, babies, often kidnapped, for international adoption, use of people for drug testing and many other aspects of the business. It's no surprise, and certainly not a spoiler, that the poorest people are often the victims for the benefit of the wealthier.

Serendipity. I came to know about this book from a podcast. One of the goals for me this year is to know more about body hacks and pushing endurance limits. This book perfectly fits into my theme and topics I have been learning more (keto, HIIT).

The author tries to debunk the myth of Wim Hof and his techniques but practices and gains immense benefit out of it. As a newbie and skeptic about cold therapy and Wim Hof methods, this was a fantastic intro for me. Highly recommend it, if you are curious about this topic.

Somehow I have been unaware of the second-largest genocide of the 20th century. This book is highly readable ("like a novel") way to learn more about it. There are strong central characters and thrilling events from the lowliest farmers to the top politicians. And it includes the impact of a one in a thousand year cyclone that precipitated the violence, showing how global-warming fueled natural disasters morph into political and open conflicts as opposing parties use the chaos to try and gain advantage. This dynamic has reoccurred multiple times in recent years. It also reminds me of the Ukraine conflict with a neighboring "brother" country led by a despot going on a killing spree to try and eliminate a closely linked competing culture.… (more)
