Nettlers (ネトラ Netora) are orange, one-eyed slug enemies encountered in the Kid Icarus series.
Characteristics
Nettlers are one of many species of cyclopic Underworld monster that Pit will fight. They are described as being pink, slug-like creatures, although they have two flippers for arms that allow them to move around faster. Despite this, they are still among the slower creatures of the Underworld, making them seemingly easy targets at first. However, due to their incredibly soft and flexible bodies, Nettlers are able quickly flatten themselves, allowing them to dodge higher-aimed projectiles that may come their way. Nevertheless, they remain nearly defenseless if attacked at close range. Following the defeat of Medusa, Nettlers underwent an evolution that caused them to lose their arms and adopt a much darker color scheme, although they still retained their flexible capabilities.
Appearances
Kid Icarus
They have a moderate movement speed and following trudging tactics, actively seeking out Pit. They have the unique ability to evade Pit's arrows by quickly dodging underneath them. At the beginning of his quest, Pit may be too weak to defeat a Nettler before it touches him. A steady barrage of shots will bring a Nettler down. Unlike what the manual implies, it cannot reflect arrows.
Manual Description
A one-eyed slug. It looks stupid, but watch out! It's got sharp reflexes and returns Pit's arrows.

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
Nettler takes the name Wormser in Of Myths and Monsters. Wormser's reflexes are slightly slower, and they cannot move while ducking.
Manual Description
Creeps over the floor but has quick enough reactions to avoid Pit's arrows.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Nettlers return in the game as grounded enemies. They attack by shooting bubbles from their single eye, and are still able to flatten themselves to quickly avoid projectiles launched by Pit's weapons; however, aiming downwards will make their attempts at avoiding fire useless and they are unable to protect themselves against melee attacks. Nettlers are also much larger than before, but are not very common enemies.
Idol Description
Originally a slug, this enemy has evolved arms and gained improved mobility in the process. While not very athletic, its reflexes are excellent. When fired upon, the Nettler can even use its soft body to squish itself flat and dodge attacks.
Other Appearances
Captain N: The Game Master
Two Nettlers made an appearance in the episode "Mr. & Mrs. Mother Brain".
