These poems recall and reassess the specific specifics of days and nights of hurts that are never forgotten. I think it’s always good to read just one poem from a collection per day/night and that is especially true here.

In the Desert

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,

“But I like it
“Because it is bitter,
“And because it is my heart.”
