I feel like she way over-hyped her case. Like it was intense, there was an explosion, but didn't seem like something all the cops would discuss in hushed tones and awe. Especially not when they are all comparing stories. So meh alright overall. I'll give the first book a read.

I've read this series, but was a bit disappointed as she dropped it and I don't think she has any intentions of picking it back up again. It's a shame because I really enjoyed it. I've never read this prequel, however.

Wait oh no is the 4th book it the end of the series?? Is it an open ending or like just stops with nothing figured out?
It doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but it doesn't feel like it's wrapped up either, imo. She published the first two in 2014, the third in 2015, then the fourth in 2017. She has moved on to other series now, so I don't really have hope of this one getting finished. It has been a while since I've read them, though. I may be wrong and she meant to have an open ending to the series in case she ever came back, but I just remember I felt like there was more to the story.
Ahhhhh okay thanks for the heads up, I think I might pass on reading then especially since I wasn’t like in love with this one.
For what it's worth, I'm glad I read them. I enjoyed them a lot. She shows quite a bit of character growth when it comes to her views on magic and her brother.. I read them a couple of years ago.
