Exciting: terrifying forays into a frozen wilderness🏔

4.5🌟stars
I really loved the fast pace and the double storyline dovetailing into one frigid challenge for Alton, Kane and their team. The switch from the serial killer case to the search for medical examiner Wolfe's teenage daughter Julie and back kept the suspense level high, and the blizzard, avalanche-inducing Montana backwoods setting is almost a separate character.

This is a great addition to the series, easy to read and I really liked that most of the police work was hard scrabble, physically taxing and not focused on the scientific tools often featured in police investigations these days. A little of the technical talk goes a long way. Jenna and Kane's changing family life adds a bit of human interest and warmth to the story.

I was a bit surprised by the end pages concerning the serial killer, which seemed a quick, unlikely scenario, but overall a quick, exciting read.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
