Her eyes snap open and she takes in the snow-covered forest around her. She can’t remember how she got here, and a dark figure is running toward her. She doesn’t have time to scream before he’s upon her…
When Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy, David Kane, hear reports of a plane crashing into the mountains that surround Black Rock Falls, their hearts shatter. Their friend’s blonde-haired teenage daughter, Julie, was on that flight. They won’t sleep until they bring Julie home to her distraught family.
A blizzard closing in, Jenna pushes on with the search until, just beyond the snow-capped trees, she finds the plane. She falls to her knees at the sight of the lifeless bodies, still buckled into their seats. But one passenger is Julie has vanished…
Racing into the remote forest, Jenna finds heavy footsteps around the crash site which are too big to be Julie’s. Someone was here before them. Following the prints, Jenna’s pulse races as she finds the bodies of three young women hanging from the tall pine trees, their limbs frozen, their faces lifted to the sky above.
When the victims are identified, Jenna notices that each girl had long blonde hair when they went missing, just like Julie. But when they were found in the forest, their hair had been cut, their looks changed forever. Is a twisted killer preying on girls who he can manipulate before their death? Could Julie be his next victim? With snow piling up around them, Jenna doesn’t have long to find Julie alive. Can she track down this monster before he takes his next innocent life?
4.5*. This was soooo good, I went back to read book 12.5 immediately - I needed more D.K. Hood!
There's a blizzard in town that brings down a small plane with 6 souls on board, amongst them is the daughter of key character Wolfe in this (and interconnected Beth Katz series), Julie. She is rescued and taken to a cabin with a stranger. *Also, I was sleeping in a cabin alone for a family holiday when I read this and would not suggest this if you're a sook like me LOL.
While Kane and Alton and their teams are tracking the plane crash site to try to find Julie, multiple women's bodies are found frozen. Another serial killer is about.
This is extremely suspenseful, literally couldn't put it down, read it quicker than most books lately and I'd say some good red herrings but nothing too shocking and I don't really know what locked room mystery is, but if I had to guess the Julie aspect may be it. Loads of good action to finish this one off, but not too much which was refreshing.
I haven't read this entire series, I think Debra and I started at about book 21 or 22 and I am just loving the series more and more. I don't feel as if I'm missing anything having not started at the start.
So highly recommend this!! I just wish it was a bit longer.
Many thanks to Debra for the latest D.K. Hood buddy read, always a joy to discuss. Be sure to check out her fantastic review of this (and other books).
Thanks also to NetGalley, the publisher and author for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Our 23rd trip to serial killer central is an absolute blast!! It is cold, snow constantly falling and blocking roads and pathways in the woods. Which is not helpful when a plane has crashed with the daughter of one of their own on board, and a serial killer leaving the naked bodies of women tied to trees in the woods. Always so much happening in Black Rock Falls.
Another page turning, fast paced crime thriller that I stayed up well into the night to finish. I love this team and their stories just keep getting better, after 23 books so many series get old and tired but not this one. The author keeps you guessing right until the end. I really enjoyed having a different character in the middle of the action this time.
Thanks so much to Bookouture for allowing me to read this book. So early once again. Publishes on October 1st.
In this 23rd book of the series sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband, partner David Kane investigate the disappearance of their friend’s daughter Julie from a plane crash. On their way to the site they find a serial killer’s dumping ground of women who look like Julie. They race against time to find her in the middle of a raging blizzard. This was an exciting read that had me guessing till the end. Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for this eARC that will be released October 1, 2024!
Their Frozen Bones is one of the most suspenseful books in the Kane and Alton series by D.K. Hood. This book will grab you from the start and continue to increase the tension as you read. Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband, David Kane get reports of a plane crash. It's getting close to Christmas and Black Rock Falls is having a blizzard. A member of their team has a daughter on her way to visit for the holidays. Unfortunately, they get word that Julie was on the plane that crashed. Getting to the crash site won't be easy with the conditions worsening every hour. They get a team together, pack up, get in warm gear, and head out. They will have take snow mobiles with them in case the truck can't get through.
They reach the crash site after much difficulty and are heartbroken to find the dead bodies still strapped into their seats. There's no Julie though and her pink luggage is missing. It looks like someone rescued her, but who? Was it a Good Samaritan or the person who killed the 3 women they found frozen to death tied to trees? Time is critical as Julie could be badly hurt or be in the hands of a crazed killer. All 3 girls that were killed had long blonde hair just like Julie. Will they find Julie before it's too late? Will they find the person who killed the 3 women? Is the person who took Julie the killer? How are they going to proceed when the snow is piling up rapidly and the roads and trails are getting impassable?
This book will horrify you in parts, keep you guessing the entire way, and make you worry about the future of Kane and Alton. This is a must read for anyone that enjoys a great mystery. Yes, it's book 23 in a series, but you can pick it up and enjoy it as a standalone too. I love this series so much and the minute I finish the latest book I'm eager for the next. I don't know how D.K. Hood does it, but she keeps making the series better and better. I rate Their Frozen Bones 5 stars with my highest recommendation. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Their Frozen Bones in exchange for a fair review. #TheirFrozenBones
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this awesome book
you can never go wrong with a D.K.Hood book and this one is no exception....
snow. avalanches kidnapped women and a plane crash whats not to like about this book
when the plane crashed in the mountains it was all hands on deck because one of the passengers was one of their own...
dave and jenna with the help of everyone that could search the mountains was called in.... time was of the essence to find as many survivors as they could but as they make their way to the site of the plane crash they stumble on the body of a naked woman tied to a tree. as she was already dead the living took priority and marking the site for later they carried on.... but it wasnt long before they found another body....
could there be another serial killer in town.....
with time running out and the threat of more snow getting to the crash site was imperative
oh man this book.... what a read..... could not put it down.... always love a good book about snow and mountains and this one had all the adventure i needed ...
Holy cow that was good! I normally have the villain figured out, but this one got me. I was so wrong; the villain was unexpected (which made it even better). Kane, Jenna, and the rest are an amazing team, and I love how they work together. I am curious if just met a new series regular. I cannot wait for the next one!
This is another brilliant crime thriller from DK Hood. It’s always good to catch up with Jenna and Dave and this book gets off to a dramatic start. Wolfe is at the airport waiting to pick his daughter Julie up when he gets the news that the plane has gone down over the mountains. Dave gets the search party ready but with a blizzard descending upon them, they can’t get there straightaway. There’s a man out near the crash site checking his traps and he finds Julie unconscious with a badly injured leg. He takes her back to his cabin to help her, but when she wakes up, she’s suspicious of him. The other part to this story is the women that have been found dead tied to a tree that Jenna and the team discover on their way to the crash site. There’s a race against time to find the killer especially as they’re all worried that he might have Julie. This is a gripping crime thriller that I really enjoyed. Thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.
Maybe Black Rock Falls should be renamed and called Serial Killer Falls from now on. Yes, indeed, for the umpteenth time, one of those despicable human beings has found his way to the otherwise peaceful town to give in to their disgusting urges.
The killer thought they were real clever killing this time of year and during a blizzard, hoping to get away with it and making themselves scarce before their victims were discovered. It was, after all, by accident their victims were found, while Jenna, Dave and the rest of the team were on a different mission caused by a disaster that struck Wolfe's family and thus affected them all deeply too.
The weather was not on their side and that made it all a lot more frustrating, not knowing the who, what or where.
With the same determination as per usual, they work hard to uncover the truth, make sure another culprit is put behind bars and they can all start to relax and look forward to celebrating Christmas. Before the party can start, there is one very important thing that has to be taken care of. If not, danger and devastation might lurk around the corner...
Another great addition to this excellent series. I had a wonderful time reading it. As per usual it has everything I enjoy in a good book. 5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review "Their Frozen Bones", the latest book in D.K. Hood's 'Detectives Kane and Alton' series. Here we are, book 23 and still going strong. As is the suspense in this newest instalment. It's closing in on Christmas in Black Rock Falls, and the weather and natural phenomena are wreaking havoc with everyone. Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane are concerned with the weather getting worse and worse, and the propensity for killers to take advantage. After all, as many are heard to remark, this is Serial Killer Central - come rain or come shine. Julie Wolfe, daughter of Medical Examiner, and close friend to both Jenna and Dave, Shane Wolfe is on her way back to Black Rock Falls when the small plane she's in is downed by the sudden, fierce storm. Not knowing if she has survived, it's all hands on deck to the crash site; but Julie's nowhere to be found, along with her luggage and some supplies from the plane. All of the other passengers and pilot are deceased. But where is Julie? The department will have to pull out all the stops to search under terribly adverse conditions, including avalanches set off by earth tremors. In the course of the search, the Sheriff and Deputy come upon three dead women, duct taped to trees and savagely murdered. Is there another serial killer loose in the area? And it looks like there might be one more woman missing, who they fear might be the next victim. The suspense never lets up all through the twin investigations into Julie's disappearance and the women (unidentified through most of the book) who were killed. Highly recommended. Could work as a standalone read, but I'd recommend you read the entire series. You won't be disappointed.
This book has so much going on and I loved it! Yes, we have a missing girl but that didn't seem to be the main focal point, even the deaths of the others didn't take the main focal point. For me, we focus on a potential new character to the fold, and to say it looks like it's a green light, I did cheer! I worried I would be lulled into a false sense of security, that maybe, just maybe, this new character wouldn't be a good one. But phew. It's ok. I was ok, and I was happy!
When we weren't focusing on the newbie, it was Jenna, Dave, and even Emily and Rio. This book felt different, it felt more of a filler to start something rather than a normal intense thriller. Not that it's a bad thing at all, as it gave time for other characters to shine, to be at the forefront, but there was a different feel. A huge lull before the storm, before the birth of Jenna and Dave's baby, and before Wolfe settles down. Before so many new things!
I do love this series, I have been here since the beginning and everyone has come so far. But Ms Hood, her writing has got so much stronger, she has developed this small town into a serial killer central, but she has created her own team of Super-Heroes who fight the bad guys, save the day and get a HEA most of the time. I love it! As Ms Hood does with her characters and scene setting, drawing you into this false sense of security, it does make me worried for what might happen in the next book, I really am worried there is a HUGE storm a-coming especially after reading the blurb!
Many thanks for NetGalley and D.K. Hood for this ARC in exchange my review.
Certainly! This book is an edge-of-your-seat crime thriller with a jaw-dropping twist. I couldn't put it down. The suspense builds, and the stakes are high. I was so addictive to the plot and there was unexpected twists out of blue. If you enjoy crime thrillers, this one is definitely worth a read! It is a compelling read that I can confidently recommend to you. Actually, you may found there is the mix of strong character development, an engaging plot. I am hooked from start to finish. As I closed the book, I felt a sense of completion, yet also a lingering anticipation for what the author might conjure up next. I’m eagerly awaiting my next adventure in the pages of this series.
Sheriff Kane and Detective Alton are heading out in a blizzard to a plane crash site that has one of their own on board. As the blizzard continues, so does the tension in this tightly plotted book. On their way to the site they are horrified to find a frozen body tied to a tree. They instantly know they also have a sadistic killer to find. Author D. K. Hood continues to be a terrific writer of the mystery thriller genre. Another exciting book for all her avid and new readers. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for an early copy. This review is my honest opinion.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
When a plane crashes in the forest Sheriff Jenna Alton and deputy sheriff Dave Kane as well as deputies Rio and Rawley, medical examiner Wolfe and his daughter Emily race to the scene. Wolfe’s daughter Julie was onboard, and when they get there she is gone without trace. With the snow coming down heavily, avalanches block the trails and they struggle to even begin to search. They also come across young woman found to trees and frozen to death.
This one almost had to go in the freezer (IYKYK). Full disclaimer this is probably my favourite book series ever. I have been there from the first book, and I feel like I know Jenna and Kane. Jenna’s pregnancy is complicating things with Kane being over protective-exactly as I thought at the end of the last book. These characters are so well written that they are fully real to me. The suspense in this book had me on the edge of my seat. I read to late at night and picked it up as soon as I opened my eyes! I couldn’t put it down. Was Julie in danger or was Raven a good guy. I needed to know asap! As always I finished this too quickly., and as always I’m desperate to read the next one. The potential threat towards the end was upsetting. Only because I am rooting for Jenna and Kane to have their happy ending!
100% recommend. This could be read standalone as backstories are always complete.
I'll let you read the editorial review and synopsis for details, I'm just going to tell you my opinion. This book is fabulous and if you're a Kane and Alton (and friends) fan you are going to love this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wowza! D.K. Hood has crafted an addictive, gripping, atmospheric, pulse pounding and thrilling book which had me turning the pages while my pulse pounded! I was instantly drawn into the plot, on the edge of my seat, fingers crossed and feeling the chill in the air! I have not read this entire series but have loved the books in the series that I have read. One thing that D.K. Hood excels at is writing books in a series which work perfectly as stand-alone novels.
Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy, David Kane, have been alerted that a plane has crashed in the snow covered mountains around Black Rock Falls carrying the daughter of Wolfe, who is one of their own. As the desperate search is underway, the bodies of the murdered women are found! Making things more tense, when they find the plane that went down, Julie is missing!!!!!
Whew! This book was full of tension, suspense, danger, and dread. Questions swirled through my mind as the snow swirled through the air. I loved the atmosphere in this book. I could almost feel the cold in the air, while imagining the crunch of the frozen snow under their feet. This book kept me on my toes, turning the pages and loving every second of it.
This proved to be an extremely fast and thrilling read. I did my best super sleuthing while reading, trying to determine whodunit. I don't always get it right but in this book, I nailed it! I enjoyed the twists, revelations, suspense, mounting danger, and banter between the characters.
D.K. Hood has left me a very happy reader once again! I love her writing, her characters, and the engrossing plots she writes. I can't wait to read what she writes next!
**I had a wonderful time reading and discussing this book with Bec (becbingesbooks). We have enjoyed diving into Hood's books and always have fabulous discussions on the books we read together. Please read Bec's (becbingesbooks) terrific review if you have not done so already.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a gripping, atmospheric read.
Title: Their Frozen Bones Author: D. K. Hood Series: Detectives Alton and Kane #23 Publisher: Bookouture Genre: Crime Thriller Pub Date: October 1, 2024 My Rating: 3.6 Stars Pages: 259 Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband deputy, David Kane, got a report of a plane crashing into the mountains that surround Black Rock Falls. Their immediate fear it that it is the plane their friend’s teenage daughter, Julie, was on that flight. Julie was like a little sister to Jenna so she is going to do everything she can to find what happened.
They search the remote area and find the crash and the bodies of three young girls although not Julie they are also blondes like Julie only their hair has been cut - Needless to say, some really nasty things going on. The ‘Prologue’ gives us a hint of how things get started with the beautiful girls getting themselves into bad situation. A handsome man offers a romantic weekend at the Glacial Heights Ski Resort. Only he has something else in mind.
Jenna and husband Dave have an adopted son Tauri whom we are introduced to in early stories. We find out that Jenna is pregnant and experiencing morning sickness but her love for Julie is not going to stop because of it. The story is indeed one that I did not want to put down and I read in one sitting.
In the “A Letter from D.K. Hood, she tells us that she has a love of writing about winter and snow. This brought a smile to my face. I have been living in Southern California over half my life but I grew up in the east and loved snow. So although this was ‘some’ adventure and there was a blizzard, I did enjoy that it was an adventure in the snow.
I have read the Agent Beth Katz series and really enjoyed them. I got on the Alton and Kane series later with A Song for the Dead Bok #21 I was pleased that I wasn’t all that lost by getting on board so late in this series.
A Big Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early eGalley. Publishing Release Date scheduled for October 1, 2024.
I know I say this a lot about these long running police procedural series I read, but I really do love this series. The getting to know the characters and watching them grow ups the ante when the case becomes personal. When Wolfe’s daughter is on a plane that went down in the snowy mountains, the team jumped in to track the downed plane and save his daughter. Along the way, they find the calling card of a serial killer and they then have to split their focus on this new case while still hunting for Wolfe’s daughter. Of course there would be a serial killer in Black Rock Falls. I would really have to move if I lived there.
Another layer of personal in this case is Jenna is pregnant (finally) and they’re searching for their friend’s missing daughter. I like this full circle that is subtle but also in your face. The complex layered plot with multiple storylines doesn’t feel crowded and by the end, I was satisfied with how it ended.
After 23 books, I am always amazed when the series doesn’t feel old or tired. I’m not sure how the author keeps coming up with these great ideas for plotlines but I am impressed. While Alton and Kane are always at the center of the book, I love how each book also showcases another character and I get the chance to know a little more about them.
The book is fast paced and suspenseful and once I picked it up, I could not put it down. I was guessing right up until the end.
The books can be read out of order, but once you read one, you will want to read them all.
When Sherrif Jenna Alton and her Deputy David Kane hear reports of a plane crashing into the mountains that surround Black Rock Falls, their hearts shatter. A blizzard is closing in, Jenna pushes on with the search until, just beyond the snow-capped trees, she finds the plane. She falls to her knees at the sight of the lifeless bodies, still buckled to their seats. But Julie has vanished....
While looking for Julie and the plane she was in, Jenna and her team discover some dead bodies along the way. The snow is deep, there's a blizzard and avalanches happening around them, and roads were cut off.
I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. Would Jenna, Dave, and the rest of the team find Julie alive? I love how the characters have progressed in each new book. All the characters have their parts to play. We get two cases running side by side. I was quickly pulled in and read this book in one sitting. D.K. Hood, please don't run out of ideas for this fabulous series.

The twenty third outing for Jenna & Dave & another very well written thriller. I love both Jenna & Dave & have loved how their relationship has changed & deepened over the series. Each book can be read on its own but with a series this good I’d recommend starting at the beginning. There’s lots of suspense & lots of edge of the seat moments. I’ve learned to start reading this series early in the day as once started I’m not going anywhere until I’ve finished. Strong characters, a fast paced story added to my enjoyment I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
If you are an active reader of mysteries, and small-town crime novels, do you ever feel like you are more hyper alert unnecessarily when out in the woods, or in certain situations?
For Julie Wolfe, as she finds herself in a cabin with a stranger after a plane crash, in serial killer territory, and having read many of FBI Agent Jo Wells books analyzing serial killers, trust in a stranger is something can’t let herself do as her mind runs wild, questioning every action and comment made. Is her rescuer one of the good guys or is he a serial killer??
A new serial killer is using the mountains, his crimes discovered when the Jenna and her team race to the scene of the crash when they hear that Wolfe’s daughter was on the flight that went down.
This book weaves the search for Julie and a serial killer together, while continuing to deliver further progression in the stories of all the main characters that we love. There is also a new character that we are likely to see more of in future books and I have my suspicions on a new love match that will emerge…..
D.K Hood, always manages to deliver a heartfelt story of close friends and family, along with an edge of your seat, gripping mystery that keeps you coming back for the next installment!
This one was brutal. There is an especially twisted and vile killer on the loose in the mountains surrounding Black Rock Falls.
When a plane crashes in the mountains with Wolfe's daughter, Julie, on board as one of the passengers, it is all hands on deck. Time is of the essence due to the frigid temperatures. They do not even know if anyone survived, but they will not stop until they can find the crash site. Kane and Alton and their team go searching for the crash site and find a serial killer's gruesome playground.
This case was especially difficult because they are having to battle inclement weather with blizzards and avalanches, all while avoiding bullets from those who do not want visitors at their home.
The suspense was as taut and intricate as a spider web as you wonder who this crazed killer could be. Four words that come to mind to describe this book would be atmospheric, chilling and utterly gripping, which in turn means you can not put it down once you start it. The formidable team of characters are the perfect combo for fighting serial killers. They are better than the A-team of any other group of law enforcement groups.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Plane crash, no. Snow, no. Character I liked, no. Snow that strands people, no. Killer in the snow, no. Their Frozen Bones defies all of these and throws all niceties out the window. This book put me in my place and made me feel uncomfortable from the start.
As the team hunt for the plane crash affecting Wolfe’s daughter number 2 Julie, they come across women frozen in the extreme Black Rock Falls winter. But they aren’t accidental deaths. They are bone-chilling murders!!! *shudder*
I loved the switch from the Black Rock team to Julie to the killer and the victims. Getting into the heads of the different characters boggled my mind. Was Julie with the killer? If she was, what was the killer planning for her? The victims I wanted to rescue with a tardis! I just felt tense throughout without even thinking about the personal issues my main core of compadres were going through!!
This is another chilling (in both respects of the word) thriller from Hood. The weather has changed in the UK and autumn has hit. Reading this chilling thriller with a blizzard backdrop added to the actual temperature drop! I need something to warm my cockles after this!! I don’t know how Hood does it but she surpasses herself with each book!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow I loved this book it was a real page turner. I’m a big DK Hood fan so was excited to read this. It did not disappoint, After 22 books you would think that this series would get stale but no, book 23 was fantastic. I liked how there were two cases running side by side, it really kept me guessing.
During a snow storm a plane goes down with a much loved member of the team on board. Can this person be saved before the cold or injuries get to them. Whilst searching for the downed plane they come across a body. Is there another serial killer in town or is this a body from the plane crash? They are severely hampered by the storm, will they make it in time?
This book can certainly be read as a stand alone as each story is different but I would recommend reading from book one as it’s interesting to see how the dynamics and relationships of the team develop. Reading one of these books feels like greeting old friends, the characters are just lovely. I couldn’t put this one down I really enjoyed it the plot was great. Awesome piece of writing by DK Hood. Highly recommend, I would definitely buy this book to gift.
Exciting: terrifying forays into a frozen wilderness🏔
4.5🌟stars I really loved the fast pace and the double storyline dovetailing into one frigid challenge for Alton, Kane and their team. The switch from the serial killer case to the search for medical examiner Wolfe's teenage daughter Julie and back kept the suspense level high, and the blizzard, avalanche-inducing Montana backwoods setting is almost a separate character.
This is a great addition to the series, easy to read and I really liked that most of the police work was hard scrabble, physically taxing and not focused on the scientific tools often featured in police investigations these days. A little of the technical talk goes a long way. Jenna and Kane's changing family life adds a bit of human interest and warmth to the story.
I was a bit surprised by the end pages concerning the serial killer, which seemed a quick, unlikely scenario, but overall a quick, exciting read.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Another brilliant, riveting read Just the sort I enjoy and need! A plane crash involving Julie, someone they know, Has Jenna, Dave and the team quickly on the go.
Wrapping up warm to answer the call, Blizzards and earth tremors hamper them all. With snow piling up, they still try to go Because what's happened to Julie they need to know.
The discovery of other victims along the way Increases the tension, and fears come into play. What's happened to Julie, has a killer taken her now? They need to find her quickly somehow.
The snow, the cold and a twisted killer, Make this read a superb crime thriller. Can they find Julie before she comes to harm? Thinking her rescuer could be the killer causes alarm.
A real page turner read with twists and surprises And a possible new team member, though no one realises! There's the possible end of a romance, too, And maybe a hint of another that'll be new.
For my copy of this book, I say thank you As I share with you this, my honest review.
Their Frozen Bones (Detectives Kane and Alton # 23) by D.K. Hood Publisher: Bookouture Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Mystery & Thrillers Expected Publication Date: October 1, 2024
Their Frozen Bones is the 23rd book in the Detectives Kane and Alton series by D.K. Hood. This book can easily be enjoyed as part of the series or as a standalone mystery. I've only read the last few so far, even though I plan to finish reading the previous books soon.
This book was fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat. I did not want to stop reading this book! I love the characters, and I found the story to be absolutely captivating! This book was intense and I loved every minute of it!!!
I highly recommend this book! I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I have become so attached to these characters that I need to know what will happen to them!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'm loving this series so much. Not only do we get new murders to be solved but we also get to know more about the characters, especially Kane and Alton. A large part of this story revolves around Dr. Shane Wolfe's missing daughter, Julie. She was on her way to Black Rock Falls when the plane she was on crashed. With a blizzard closing in. Thankfully she is rescued. The only question is whether he's a good guy or possibly a serial killer.
At the same time, frozen bodies taped to trees are found and the race is on to find the serial killer. But the team's efforts are hampered not only by the blizzard but also by multiple avalanches in the area.
This story will have you on the edge of your seat from the start and it doesn't let up until the ending. There are changes in the wind for Jenna and her team, and it will be interesting to see how that progresses in the future books as well as the potential "new guy".
Back to BlackRock Falls for the 23 book in the Kane/Alton series, where a plane crashes in the hills and is carrying one of Wolfe's daughters. When she is discovered missing from the crash and several bodies are found tied to trees, the team hits high gear in trying to solve these mysteries.
I love seeing where the characters are going in their relationships, and I loved the new twist with a new entity in town. I am enjoying getting more perspective on the Wolfe daughters as they grow up and are seemingly becoming more and more part of the team.
This book captures your attention quickly and keeps you glued right til the end. It remains a fast paced, quick read. You will not want to put the book down. Can't wait for the next book to come out.
