"Sometimes dead is better".................

KING calls Pet Sematary his scariest book, and I can understand why. It is super creepy and super "shocking" where he takes the reader, and his interesting prologue explaining how he came to write this unsettling tale brings a bit of truth to the story.

While truly a horror of a read, it is excellent in respect to its genre, but just awful too if that makes any sense. PS is not particularly gory, but definitely sad, sick, dark, and disgusting with more than one horribly "shocking" event that will blow your mind.

Take heed if you're new to reading horror as this one will make your skin crawl and keep you from taking a walk in the woods anytime soon......especially if your cat is nearby.

"IT" is still my favorite scary KING thriller (especially the "old" movie) but Pet Sematary (did I say it was "shocking") is a close second, and......."sometimes dead is better."

UPDATE: October 16, 2015

WARNING: DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TOTALLY CREEPED OUT! THE VISUAL OF THE "SISTER" FLASHBACK SCENE ALONE IS MORE HORRIFYING THAN THE ENTIRE BOOK!!!

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery Awesome pick. I plan on reading this in October, but with the move and everything upside down, I'm not sure if I'll have downtime. Everyone who has read it said it's really scary.

ReadAlongWithSue ★⋆. ࿐࿔ I saw the film, wonder if its near to the book

I saw the movie too, but a very long time ago and do not remember much. May watch it after I read the book...probably be a good one for October. :-)

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery I love the movie. One of the scariest to me.

My husband started out reading the book. He said it was too close to the movie and he lost interest.

PorshaJo Great fall horror read. Saw the movie so long ago I don't remember the full story line, just remember it really creeped me out.

Jeanine I kept thinking even Stephen King wouldn't go there.... He did!

Linda I love that you're reading all the Stephen King books that I devoured in my youth. Makes me want to revisit them.

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery Cujo is on right now. Thinner was on too earlier. Looks like a night of Stephen King. AMC channel.

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery You're welcome. =)

Cujo is hard for me to watch, because of the dog getting hit with the bat, etc. I know he's rabid, but I don't like it. At least it's only simulated...

Carol Your quote "Sometimes dead is better"................." is perfect and sums up my feelings about this book. When I read it years ago I stopped reading King it creeped me out so. Eventually I was lured back in but this still is the one I can't get out of my head. I love horror and though I didn't like Pet Semetary I'd have to give it good rating just for how it made me feel.
