This is a very hard review for me to write.
I liked the story, it was different that what I expected and I was pleasantly surprise. I fell for Lee pretty early on and was captivated by his trust and affection for Shaw. Lee inner strength was incredible.

I even liked Shaw, especially in the second half of the book. So I wonder, why is it that this book didn’t excite me?
First of all I felt that most of the time I was just waiting for something to happen and things were dragging. Even when something good finally happens it was so short lived and over too soon. The beginning of the book was also hard for me to read. I knew from the blurb there was going to be abuse but even if most was off the page it hurt… a lot!
I think this was a good read but maybe just not my cup of tea.

Ah, I was searching for your review last night Giorgia:) I understand your comments, this type of thing is not for everyone!
Ahaha, you make me feel like such a lightweight Em!
Haha! No I don't mean that, you survived SF so your no lightweight! I mean the torture bit, I'm not keen on that either and was glad it was off the page. I also think when you really feel for a character, like Lee, you don't really want to see anything bad happen to them or read about it anyway.
