The Trouble with Trying to Date a Murderer (Murder Sprees and Mute Decrees #1)
by
I freaking loved, loved, LOVED this story.
Picture Alice Winters' "Hitman" series' level of craziness, but with much more liberal use of the brakes -- *before* things go so nonsensical that they're completely off the rails.
Romily was hilarious as the disadvantaged, mute, young man that happened to keep crossing paths with an assassin charged to keep Evil Forces™ in check for a council of powerful supernatural beings.
I also loved that, although Fox was a stoic Weapon of Vengeance™ for the good guys, he was also quick to soften in Romily's presence.
Kudos for Fox's boss and his parents, along with the other team's assassin, who Romily "claimed" as his own. No take backs! 🤣
One thing that I found pretty refreshing was how both MC’s were really confident in both themselves and what they wanted.
So there was absolutely none of the “Am I worthy or good enough?” or “How does he really feel about me?” internal monologuing that is ALWAYS a staple in almost every single other romance out there. It was nice.
This was a crazy-assed ride and I'm soooooo here for the next book, which is blessedly already out.
4.5 stars, rounding up.

I am intrigued! And the cover is awesome, it says so much about the story.

I *need* to know the reason behind the table hoarding. 🙂

Ooo I almost picked this up awhile ago but got distracted by something else. My life story! I’m glad you enjoyed it and I love to hear both characters are confident and there’s no self deprecating inner monologues to bring this down. 💗

I almost picked something else, too, so really happy that I didn't this time. 😁
I didn't really notice the lack of self-doubt, until I'd finished the story, then was like, "Huh, not having those types of tiresome monologues was sooooooooo nice."

Absolutely adore this book (and the sequel!), so I'm ecstatic that you loved it, Todd! Can't wait for book 3.

Have you read Alice Winters' "Hitman" series? It's really funny, too, but a bit more OTT than some people like.

Thanks. 🙂
The #1.5 short is a very quick rundown of how they met from Fox's POV (read and liked it) and #2 is about Bellamy being kidnapped (30% done w/ that one).

from the moment our sweet harbringer decided he was going to mary Fox i knew it wa going to be a great book. Bringing their ginger son-in-law into it mde me fall head over heals for this book, the books that came after it, and books of similar crack.
I Love the tender, romantic moments, but for the love of netmug tell me why TABLES?!!!!!??!?!?!? why not shoes, or more weapons. all in all,i recommed this book to anyone looking for something to love

Yeah, tables and Daddy. 🤣
And yes, WHY the tables??? Inquiring minds and all that...
Also, if you liked this one, I'd suggest reading "Catch and Release" by Isabel Murray. Hilarious, too.

Ok I came onto Goodreads to write my review, thinking “I’m going to open with ‘I love love loved this book’”… but you beat me to it.
😄
I’ll just say “I totally agree” here and think of another way to start my review.
