Cute, and definitely worth reading if you enjoy slice-of-life comics.
I've been hearing about this for years but it didn't sound like anything that I would enjoy. And to be honest, I actually didn't much enjoy this. It had that hyper-quippy Gillmore Girls feel to it that doesn't do much for me. The characters are young and manic and wacky and adorably confused by their first taste of adulthood, and their problems are silly and over the top.
And while I couldn't wait to be done with them, I know that it's just a personal preference on my part that has nothing to do with the storytelling.
If this sounds like something you'd like, I would 100% recommend checking this out.
However, if you think the premise sounds like nails on a chalkboard and would maybe only pick it up because of all the 4 and 5 star reviews?
Listen to your gut.

It helps if you read the decade+ of the webcomics it spun-off from... But it also kind of spat in the face of the webcomics, so... *shrug*

I always toss out webcomics to my youngest to see if she likes them. I hate to read on my phone but she just loves to scroll down. lol
Hi Anne! I appreciate you being honest with a lot of us unabashedly gushing over this series. I think GD really hits its stride in vols 2-3 and Max Sarin becomes the new artist. But if it isn’t your thing and you don’t feel like giving it another go, I completely respect that!
That's so nice of you, Lenny. This isn't what I like but I can't actually find any 'real' fault with the comic. I'm glad I finally gave it a shot, though. :)
Hm. I asked my gut and the only thing it told me is that I ate too much Spaghetti. Now I don't know what to do.
I struggled with GD too, but gave it another shot a couple years later when I was in the mood for a low-stakes world and hijinks fun. That time it clicked, especially in later volumes.

Thanks for understanding, Mooney!

Spaghetti always gets me, too. And now it's a toss up.

It was one of those Hoopla freebies last month. And you've never respected me, Alex. ;)

I might try again. You never know how the mood will strike later on down the line.

Yeah, but there are so many freaking good books out there! I think my main motivation was to use up my hoopla borrows before they expired. But I ended up not regretting the choice at all. When the humor got to me I found myself cackling more than once in each volume.
