Ruined storyline
I’m beyond frustrated with this book. In book 1 Torga met Ayla and called her brat. He worked with Hali and let it be known he was married and looking for his wife. Book 1 ended with him in an evolution egg for 10 years and getting out and reuniting with the crew. Book 2 completely throws away that sequence of events. Now Hali is still tryin to get him to marry her, Ayla became his adopted daughter overnight, he was only missing for 18 months instead of 10 years etc. Everybody is apparently an adopted daughter to him. It’s beyond frustrating. I can’t focus on if the world building is good because it’s all wrong. None of it follows what was previously written. So many details are thrown in that weren’t in the first book but are written as if the reader should know that this already happened. Heck at one point Hali talks about her dad Fenris dying in a flashback and then nothing is made of it when he clearly isn’t dead. I gave up at 35%
