5 Stars! J.D. Robb does it again Seventeen books in and this series is still going strong!! It never gets old for me and it just keeps getting better. Roarke and Eve are so comfortable in their relationship, it makes me smile. I love the way they tease each other, Eve comes off as so aloof and annoyed, all the while loving it when Roarke irks her into submission. The passion and desire they have for each other gives me the warm fuzzies. On this particular case Eve brings Roarke on board as a consultant and whenever that happens it just adds a little extra to the read. The more Roarke...the better. Along for the ride are the crazy love birds, Peabody and McNab, Eve's rock...Feeney, and the lovely Dr. Mira. All that and another amazing plot, with a psychotic killer, tense moments, as Eve whittles away at the clues to find justice for the victims!!
Susan Erickson is phenomenal as the book's narrator. She nails the voice for each character, and injects the right emotion and inflection, making an already thrilling read...EVEN BETTER!!

She is terrific Dorsey! I'm going to have to check out all her stuff out! I like Julie Whelan too, I think that's her name, she narrated The Witness.

Thanks Kristen. You might, but I'm not sure. The books are set 50 years in the future and each one involves solving a crime. The main characters go from book to book, with Eve and Roarke being at the heart of it. They are the most amazing couple and their relationship has become comfortable yet still remains quite passionate. I adore them as do many readers. From the first book to this one, only about a year or so has passed, so they basically continue from where the last one left off.

Hum... Is the main couple fighting their attraction to each other or are they a team both inside and out of the bedroom, if that makes sense? I won't do well with a couple that still isn't together after 17 books. You know me! Lol.

SHE fought the attraction, but Eve is a woman with a history and it's not a pretty one. Roarke always wanted her and how he seduces her is delicious. He's the wealthiest man of his time, but does the simplest of things for her, mostly being emotionally available and giving her coffee. By the end of the third book they are married. They still get mad at each other, but as the books go on they have a very solid relationship and he occasionally helps her with her work, because of the resources he's able to get too. She fights him on that because she's a by the book cop, but sometimes she just can't resist. I love the books Kristen and if you look around you'll see that so many of our friends are fans of the series.

I loooove this series. I would drop whatever book I'm reading or doing to read every new release! This series is my #1 recommendation when people ask. Eve and Roarke has come a long way but it's also the supporting characters development that makes you enjoy the books so much more. Plus the sex scenes are pretty steamy!

It's a keeper Quynh! You are right, the supporting characters is what elevates this series to a different level...and Roarke is HOT!
