Too bad the introduction gave so much away... hate when a book ceases to surprise! That said it was a disturbing story. I likened it to a prequel of "Whatever happened to Baby Jane." But did I like it you ask? No, not particularly, but that may have been part of the point!

Richard (on hiatus) A good, honest review Heidi ......... it’s on my list and I’m interested to see how I feel about this one :)

Julie G (one woman, lost at sea, on a ship of fools) Ah, dang it, Heidi! This is one of my favorite books. I can't stand it when "Introductions" give away plot, either. It just doesn't make sense. I've become wary of all of them!

Shelley I've been meaning to read this for awhile, but I'm afraid it will be too scary (I'm a wimp)! How high is it on the spooky scale?

Heidi Not high by today’s standards...

Heidi Julie— I wanted to love it but alas, not so.

Julie G (one woman, lost at sea, on a ship of fools) Heidi,
I can't remember if you've read The Haunting of Hill House, but, if you haven't, it's different enough that it may work for you. Or. . . her short story, "The Lottery." It's brilliant.

Deborah I read it in 8th grade and really liked it.

Heidi Julie— I’ve read her other stories. The Lottery remains her best— or should I say, her scariest!!

Julie G (one woman, lost at sea, on a ship of fools) The Lottery is brilliant. I'm sorry this one didn't work for you AND that there were spoiler alerts in the dang Introduction!
