An amazing start to the first second generation series that is a spinoff of the Scoundrels of St. James series! I loved Grace!!!! Such a strong heroine. I also adored lovingdon, I found him to be such a sweet and funny hero who had to sort through his past in order to truly fall in love. This was a wholesome love story and as always, I am in love with how Lorraine writes about love. She nails all the different kinds of it and all the nuances it has in a way that’s so unique! And she wrote also some poetic sex scenes in here as well that served to heighten the emotional connections between the characters, which is rare I think for authors to do. Loved this and am so excited to continue the series! ...more

The way this made me want to re-read the wallflowers series so bad.....but in all seriousness I feel Lisa Kleypas is a soul author for me. If she writes it I will read it and I nearly always love it. McKenna and Aline's romance was so unique and well written and angsty and it truly pulled on my heartstrings. I adored Lisa's writing more than I can possibly explain succinctly in this review. She has a masterful gift with writing and I wish I could live in her books. From clothing to food to houses, she describes everything with just enough detail to immerse you. I may have screeched when we got references to Harry Rutledge and the Capitol Theatre. I do wish that Livia and Gideon's romance had been more of a sub-plot than it was because this book really did feel like two love stories in one rather than one being a sub-plot. And don't get me wrong, I really liked Livia and Gideon together, but I wanted more of Aline and McKenna. All in all this was another hit from the queen of historical romance!!...more
