Quick thoughts:
At first, the mens's behavior was really annoying me in this book- I mean, come on- do we have to rehash these "good ole days" (that weren't very good)? And the chanting and drinking and oh- it was just too much.
BUT then some things happened and this book got intensely good like super fast and I loved how it all played out.
So read it!
Merged review:

Normally I LOVE HPR's books. I sing her praises. This one was just ok. It was confusing at times and the twists.... wellReview to come.

This book makes you question SO many things. Yes, drugs are bad. No, people should not be selling drugs. But a cancer meReview to come.
Quick thoughts:
This book makes you question SO many things. Yes, drugs are bad. No, people should not be selling drugs. But a cancer medicine to save your son's life shouldn't cost 100,000 dollars. People in real and terrible pain shouldn't have to find a street corner to buy drugs at.
SO..... there is all that. This book takes a lot of black and white scenarios and mixes them up into lots of gray.
Ok I finished this. I did see that a few of my buddies DNF this book and so I did- so Review to come.
Quick thoughts:
My 2nd 2 star review of 2020. Ugh.
Ok I finished this. I did see that a few of my buddies DNF this book and so I did- so there is some good in it. It's got a lot of great pieces. But somehow it just never really fits together. There is a Chevy Stevens book that has some of this same type of plot and it's way better imo.
Didn't really care for characters. Thought the parents were way too involved in their own lives and look what that got them.
Anyway- wanted to like it, but it just was ok at times....more
What a cute book. Susan M. Boyer just writes such fun characters and her setting of Stella Maris is perfect.
Liz and NateReview to come.

Liz and Nate have their hands full, but manage to handle all the things- and Nate even has a surprise or 2 for his wife.
I'm curious about the next book- I feel like we may be on the road to good-bye to this series- as Susan seems to be wrapping up some things with some characters. So we will see. ...more
I've read a handful of Mary Burton books- some are pretty good, some not so much. This one alternated between 2.5 and 3 Review to come.
Quick thoughts:
I've read a handful of Mary Burton books- some are pretty good, some not so much. This one alternated between 2.5 and 3 star territory and honestly- could have been around a 100 pages less in the book.
The plot and the premise was exciting- but it just didn't keep me glued to the edge of my seat like I had hoped. I finished it to see how it would end, not because I had any burning desire to finish the book.
I loved the first book I read by Christina McDonald and was eager to read this one- but it got shuffled around Review to come.
Quick thoughts:
3.5 stars
I loved the first book I read by Christina McDonald and was eager to read this one- but it got shuffled around on my Kindle and I finally saw it on there and decided to read it.
Not as good as the first book- but kept my attention.
I figured out a couple of the twists kinda early.
If you like books with mom/daughter dysfunction and drama- check this book out....more
I like Ruth Ware books- some I like more than others. This one fell more in a 3.5 star category for me.
Secrets. Red herrReview to come.
Quick thoughts:
I like Ruth Ware books- some I like more than others. This one fell more in a 3.5 star category for me.
Secrets. Red herrings. Betrayal. A creepy setting. No cell phone service. A phone line that mysteriously quits working.
All this come together to form a mystery that was very readable- while chock full of characters that could have taken a long walk off a short cliff for all I cared about ;)
I hadn't read any of the Virgin River series (although I have read most of Thunder Point and Sullivan's Crossing) and I Review to come.
Quick thoughts:
I hadn't read any of the Virgin River series (although I have read most of Thunder Point and Sullivan's Crossing) and I was excited to receive the book from Little Bird Publicity because when I need a sweet book- Robyn Carr delivers.
After finishing Home Before Dark- I needed something light and warm and feel good and Return to Virgin River delivered on all that.
Quick thoughts: I was going to buddy read this book with an IG friend, but some personal issues came up with my friend- so then I was goReview to come.
Quick thoughts: I was going to buddy read this book with an IG friend, but some personal issues came up with my friend- so then I was going to wait on reading. Then I decided that I needed a spooky read for Halloween and so I went for it.
First things: I got the basic plot of The Amityville Horror, but never read the book or watched the movies. So I was a bit nervous about reading Home Before Dark because I'm a scaredy cat.
I read this book during daylight hours only- and managed to read a big chunk today as I was gripped by the story.
The story in the story worked for me and I found that the chapters about the book that was written were a bit creepier than what was happening real time.
Overall, if you are looking for a creepy book for Halloween- check out Home Before Dark...more
Everyone was raving about this and it did sound good, but I was apprehensive about the YA feel.
Ultimately, after renewiReview to come.

Everyone was raving about this and it did sound good, but I was apprehensive about the YA feel.
Ultimately, after renewing my checkout of this book at the library 2 extra times- I was able to get it finished. I don't regret reading it- but I highly doubt that I will continue with book 2.
This book fluctuated between 2 stars and 3 stars for me.
Second, this book was about a 100 pages too long.
Third: Pippa. Where were her parents? I mean I know where they were in the book, but sometimes, I wanted to say- yes, I get it that she's 18 and grown up- but some of these trips she went on to find facts- it's like DID YOU NOT NOTICE YOUR CHILD WOULD BE GONE FOR LONG STRETCHES OF TIME?!
And while I didn't expect there to be much reality- I mean, really do people of questionable means confess to a girl doing a student project? I could have done with a little less of Pippa being the most wonderful person in the world. And if I never heard about the essay she had to turn in, but neglected to do till like the 13th hour- I could be ok....more

At first, I was picking up a bit of a One By One vibe (but that may be because I just read it and both groups were stranded in snowy places with guests with lots of secrets)
Overall, I liked this one. But I liked The Guest List better...more
