Evy is definitely a hard ass, but still delicate. At first I didn't feel a real connection with her. Her lack of sentivity to Wyatt's feelings rubbed me the wrong way. Especially since he's def my fav character in this series so far. But as the book went on, and her character developed slightly more, she realized she needed to come to a point where Wyatt deserved his chance with someone he couldn't help but fall in love with and the fact that he still loves her besides the fact that her outside appearance would never be the same. Without hesitation, I found that awesome.
I look forward to see what happens. I read that Evy goes through a hell of a lot before she finds her happiness, and she's already gone through so much in this book and lost all her friends (dead) besides Wyatt. I can't imagine what else she has in store.

On one hand I really enjoyed it. Allie seemed like an enjoyable enough heroine and with a few more books under her story (since I know this is a longer series) and the growth of her character some more she could be a contender for top ten fav females. That and I enjoyed Zayvion's character. That he, for the most part is still a big mystery to be figured out and so know little at all about him, his "real" job or past, keeps everything fresh. And they work together as a couple, even if they still have a lot of room for growth in my opinion.
What really bugged me about this book, was that Allie continued to be so straight laced about magic. She kept refusing to believe that there was still a lot that she didn't know and that maybe just maybe magic worked in other ways then just the ones that's she was always taught to believe in. Magic is a fickle thing, and if it comes from the Earth itself, who truly knows how many different forms it could come in. Especially since she kept getting slapped in the face with different things about magic that she had never heard of before. That should have been proof enough.
However, even with this slight annoyance I still enjoyed the book even to want to continue the series. I look forward to reading more about this world and seeing what Allie and Zayvion's have in store for them....more

For the most part, Anita is an okay heroine. What I didn't enjoy was that a lot of the time she seemed whiny in the fact that she didn't have a heck of a lot of confidence in her strength, and was easily over whelmed by "the master vampire" who in the end, she dispatched of quite easily.
However, what I did enjoy was that I genuinely liked the fact that I didn't know who the vampire murderer was until it was revealed.
I cried when a certain character died because I was rooting for them the whole time and I would have liked more Jean Claude. I'll eventually get my hands on the second book to continue the series cause it's so large. Let's see where this goes....more

I bought the next few books in the series, but hadn't read this one (or the second one) sice 2012 and wanted to reacquaint myself with the world of Charley Davidson a.k.a. The Grim Reaper. It didn't take me long to remember why I loved this book so much the first time. Charley is one hell of a sarcastic, no blows bard, love able and caring woman. It's gotta take a lot out of a woman to have to go threw everyday life knowing you're the ghosts connection to the afterworld and she doesn't it with class all her own.
Every character introduced in this series I felt served a genuine purpose (the major characters) and I feel like there is still so much more to learn about all of them that I can't wait to figure out.

Normally I don't like starting a series that has less than 5 books in it. But I made an exception for Ms. Kane since she is the author of one my favorite series... Downside Ghosts!
Ms. Kane has an amazing gift of creating imperfect, disturbed and struggling heroines and heroes in a story that you can't help but root for. She realizes that people aren't perfect, even demons!! Lol. And I love how she gave them some "classic" demon features within this story. Without going overboard as well.
And the live scene... Oh my gracious was it hot. Megan had steam literally coming out of mouth!!
But by far my favorite were her three lovable, goofy and down right honest to demon-goodness faithful bodyguards! They made me laugh non stop and this story wouldn't of had the same kind of charm without them.
Megan was a little bit of a weaker and more vulnerable heroine then I usialky like but I still look forward to reading her other 2 books to see where her story goes.
I do like the character of Greyson and think he's a great match for Megan. I do hope they can find a way around this whole, I can't inpregnant you thing, maybe he can since she is slightly demonic herself now thanks to The Accuser and has a house of demons herself to watch out for.
Brian was an annoying character and I couldnof did without him. Arrogant characters tend to rub me wrong. Tera sea like she will be a good "female" friend for Megan and I can see Tera and Brian hooking up.
Otherwise I enjoyed this book and will read the other two....more

However, I found Vicky to be rather self centered and only worried about herself and her needs. I found myself skimming through a lot of the content my half way through the book and I always hate when I do that. It's my red light that I've really started to lose interest in the characters and where the story is going.
Maybe I'll read the second and see where this story goes. Maybe I won't. ...more

It had a really good premise, and I do love me some gargoyles. However, it never quite seemed to finishe threw for me. And it felt rather childish to me. The writing was very simplistic and it never had a tone of voice that captured me.
I also don't necessarily enjoy forbidden loves that keep pointing out how hopeless they are. I don't like characters that won't take a chance and defy everythubg for what they want in life. I never felt like either the heroine or hero of this story were strong.
Also it kind of annoys me when a heroine doesn't "know" what she is and we have to go throw a whole book to figure if out with her.
And my biggest annoyance. THEY ARE COUSINS!!!! I don't care how distance. You made the romantic couple in your book related!! Did you not realize this or simply didn't care. Cause that just doesn't fly with me. If I do continue this series it will be with library books, I won't be buying another one....more

It kept me guessing and trying to figure out who the killer was up until the very last second. Which isn't something that I easily find in a book. I typically, too easily figure out what is going on nearly at the beginning and have to wait for the heroine or hero to figure it out and catch up with me... lol. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series and seeing what else Kara Gillian has in store for me.
P.S. I had bought the next 3 books in this series... and then woke up from a nap today (04-29-14) to my puppy having chewed up and torn apart all the books... =( lets say I'm not a happy camper right now. Have to go out and re-buy the books.... ...more

I really don't know where this series is going to take me and the heroine doesn't seem to be as strong as I would like her to be. But I'm still rooting for her. She still has a lot to learn about her abilities and I think her aunt may be keeping a look from her. I'm also really curious as to where the detective fits in and why none of the "demons" like him. And what promise/vow did he break?

I loved getting in grossed in a series, but I try to read them slowly by skipping from world to world that way I can prevent the ultimate end... hitting the last book in the series before I'm reading to be through with a world.
But I love the tale of Mira and Danaus. They are such an ill fitted pairing. But some how, they are just meant to be together. That and I love how Jocelynn Drake can keep me guessing on what's going to happen next, when that is typically hard to do to me now. I can't say this is would ever be a vampire world that o would want to be a part of, but it's the only one that k could ever truly seeing Mira or Danaus fitting into. That and while my heart wants to see them together in the end, I can't see yet how they could have a happy ending together.

I think it had the potential to be a lot better and I didn't really enjoy the conclusion of it. But I do like the hero in this book. He is a conflicted character trying to fight the lessons and rules that were drilled into his brain for as long as he can remember. He's flawed but trying to be better. I find that really attractive. Mira seems a bit to cocky for my tastes and by the end she ends up being nothing but a tool for others and a lot of her fight is taken from her. Which is kind of sad to read.
I look forward to getting the next book and seeing where this series goes. It's already concluded at it's sixth book so it's not the longest series I have, but I don't think the story line would be strong enough to carry it farther then that to begin with.
It is an interesting world, even though it was kind of confusing. I know there's vampires, werewolves, witches, warlocks, the evil no good Naturi... and the Bori (but who were the Bori again???) It's not necessarily a good thing when you just finish a book and can't remember an important part of it? I forgot who a whole species was supposed to be. The author I guess didn't explain it well enough for me to really grasp the meaning of their existence.
I look forward to figuring out what this vampire hunter really is!...more
