It is the 4th in the Bright's Pond series, but only the 2nd one I have read. I always enjoy a good Christmas book. I had not met Griselda or Agnes Sparrow.
I loved Leon Fontaine. One of the discussion questions at the end of the book is: "Who was Leon Fontaine, really? Who did he remind you of?" Good question. Not one I'm going to discuss here. But I did add this book to my paranormal book shelf.
I hope there will be more Bright's Pond books....more
I wavered between giving this 4 or 5 stars. I decided to give it a 4 because of "bedroom scenes." I kept thinking about the book after I finished it. I wavered between giving this 4 or 5 stars. I decided to give it a 4 because of "bedroom scenes." I kept thinking about the book after I finished it. I picked it up again last night, trying to find where I'd left off. I finally found my last note at approximately 60% through the book. I would read along, & think, "I've already read this." It did help to read the last half of the book again. I finally got it sorted out in my mind & haven't had Lucinda & Marisa running around in my mind taking my thoughts off of daily tasks....more

It was an awesome read. I started out trying to inhale it, but found I had to slow down in order to absorb it. This time there are little icons at the beginning of each chapter denoting who is speaking. I loved the cat for Vianne, the rabbit for Anouk & what I decided was the wind for Zozie.
One of the shelves I filed it on was paranormal. Zozie called herself, Vianne & Anouk witches. Perhaps. If they were, then add Rosette.
I found it also a coming of age for Anouk. School was difficult for her. I could so relate to being "It."
There were many "stories" from Vianne's mother & wonderful passages. If this had been my book, I would have underlined & made marginal notes.
My DSO asked why it was named [i:]The Girl With No Shadow.[/i:] I remember when the kids were in school & I was subbing, that was a common question. I was almost completed with the book before I finally had an answer to the question....more

I read it as part of a reading program at our local library. There were approximately 25 people in the group, led by a professor from Utah State University.
We talked about organized religion, the Black Man, Pere Reynaud/Comte de Reynaud. Some people in the group didn't know what Lent is. Why a chocalaterie was so tempting. I loved reading it during Lent....more

I love reading them & I laugh out loud, sometimes til my stomach hurts & I'm crying.
A comment from Joe Morelli, Stephanie's regular boyfriend, sums this book up nicely. In fact, it sums up most Stephanie Plum novels, "That would be funny, but I'm worried it's all true."...more

I actually really liked it & found I couldn't put it down. I donated it to the local high school library though because it is not a book I want to read twice. Although it is very thought-provoking.

The conclusion to the bewitching Three Sisters Island trilogy (c) 2002. This book is about Fire, Mia Devlin. Mia's part is "love without boundaries." Of the three, Mia's craft is the most refined, the most honed. The love of her life, Sam Logan, left the island 11 years before & comes back just months before the island is supposed to slip into the sea unless the three modern-day witches fulfill the spell cast 300 years before.
Luckily I was able to get all 3 books at once. The first book, hardback, and the 2nd book, paperback I checked out of the library. The 3rd book, paperback, was a discard & was sitting in the bookcase out in the foyer to be sold. I read them one right after the other.
I found quite a few sections I had to skip in Face the Fire because of bedroom scenes. More so than I did in any of the other books. ...more

I read it in one sitting. As someone else said, "Mystery solved." I am so proud of myself. I did not pick this book up to read it, even though DH did not wrap it, but it sat in the living room for several days. I DID NOT immediately go to the end of the book & try to find out the answer to the Harper Bride either. I think part of the reason is that Nora Roberts keeps the pace up, her books don't get boring. ...more
