“Shall we make a new rule of life...always to try to be a little kinder than is necessary?"
This book is very heartwarming and touching. I remember watching the movie adaption way before I picked this up, and it moved me so much that I found myself tearing up while smiling right after. It was also a pretty quick and easy read. It was kind of light yet heavy in some ways and I totally enjoyed the time I've invested reading this book. It's a multi-perspective and that actually is a bit of my problem. Though having a multiple perspective is not the problem itself, there's just some character whose perspective is just quite unnecessary to be included. It would be a bit better if it focus more on Auggie and his thoughts. Though it is still really good and I still recommend it to everyone....more
I've said it before that I am not so much into Kate's character. I didn't hate herDate read: October 8-October 11, 2019

I've said it before that I am not so much into Kate's character. I didn't hate her, I just didn't love her character that much. I loved tough female characters, but for me, her personality is just plain hard and stubborn and irrational some times. But what happened to her in the last part, I just really feel sad. Maybe it's inevitable. I actually think that what happened to her is the best way to give her character. I even wondered in some part of the story on how would the author decides Kate's fate. I thought it is the best conclusion for her. Because for me, she was somehow holding August back with her being a sinner. Maybe the big portion of my regret with her character is, as August said, she was the reason he was fighting to be a human even if a lot of people needed him as a monster. With her being gone, I just really feel sorry for August. I just wanted for August to be less in pain, that's all.
All in all, I enjoyed this duology so much. A really great read from Victoria Schwab's works. I am just so excited to read more of her books. ...more

Though there were some obvious flaws, I still managed to enjoy this as much as I can. It was really very fascinating to read anything about histories, fiction or not, and knowing that this was closely based on the real events surrounding the real Arthur Ransome, it really indulged me to read more historical fictions, and even biographies, in my next reads. Anyway, regardless of the story itself, I really liked the writing style of the author and I would definitely read more of his works in the future....more
The first time I read this series, this used to be my most favorite among the five books. I still love 5 of 5 stars

The first time I read this series, this used to be my most favorite among the five books. I still loved and adored this as I always do and nothing can change that fact, but now I realized this is the book where I liked Annabeth the least compared to other books with her in it. I found her so frustrating at times. Her trust for Luke was sometimes irrational and it was exasperating when she was having her bitch moment because of that. Which comes to the next realization; that my negative impression for Luke is increasing the more I re-read this series. I mean I didn't like him, but I didn't hate him either. But right now, I'm not so sure anymore.
But regardless of those points, this book will always hold a place in my heart. This is where Nico and Percy started having a casual talk again. Though they can never go back to how they used to treat each other, that's understandable considering how they both changed. Nico, especially. Oh, my poor Nico ...more

[3rd time - March 4, 2020]
The first appearance of one of my most favorite demigod characters, Nico di Angelo. I kept forgetting how he was this young when he was first introduced to us. This precious little kid that made our heart ached suffered so much at such young age. Yes, maybe Percy and Annabeth and other demigods faced different kinds of difficulty and near-death experiences too, but no one seemed as fragile as Nico. He needed to be protected at all cost.
Annabeth, on the other hand, appeared only a few times in this book, which means less Percabeth scenes. But nevertheless, the lacked of her presence was backed up by the quest team, which seemed so doomed even from the start yet able to use their differences to their advantage and appreciate each other despite their flaws. They're definitely a great team!
But most of all, my love for Percy Jackson grew even more. I have no words to express how much I love him. I would never ever get tired of him....more

Re-reading this book made my heart so so so happy. I just missed everyone so much, I can't even contain my feelings. I am rooting for every journey the gang has to face, every life-and-death situations, every humor. Every characters, even if it were the monsters and villains. But most especially, the one that topped my list, the Percabeth banters. Oh my, I would forever ship these two until the day I die, maybe even beyond death. They filled my heart with so much happiness.
I would have actually finished the series in one go if I wanted to, but I want to make it last the whole year, so I'm going to hold the next books off for a while. ...more

The Throne of Fire is so much better than the first book, The Red Pyramid. I really loved it every time I read adventurous middle grade book. All the Kane siblings' journey to find the Book of Ra, fortunately find Zia along the way, and wake the powerful god Ra who was nowhere to be found and hopefully defeat the chaos god Apophis. It was so exciting and action-packed! I am very much expecting more from the final book of this trilogy. ...more
