Dealing withThis is a book I put off reading because I knew it would break my heat when I read it and it did, but it was also healed the more I read. Dealing with love, loss and moving on. Dreaming of Flight is about an eleven-year-old boy as our main character. He's dealt with an unbelievable amount of loss in his short life: his parents shortly after his birth so he doesn't remember them and his grandmothers. He and his disabled brother are being raised by his adult sister. Though she does the best she can she works a lot, and he is lonely. To keep his Gran's memory alive, he is continuing to raise her chickens and sell the eggs they lay. His family desperately needs the egg money, and he gets to meet some neat people on his egg route. One of his new customers is an elderly woman named, Marilyn. She reminds him so much of his grandmother and she seems to enjoy his company just as much. An unexpected friendship starts up with benefits to both. He visits her even when he's not selling eggs and when she gets in trouble with the law for a secret, she's been keeping he's there every step of the way. This touches of loss of independence for older adults. Many think children don't realize certain things because of their age but I believe children are much more perceptive than we give them credit for. This is a heartwarming full of depth story about a young boy, his adoptive grandmother and an awareness many of us as adults miss. Highly recommended!

Sometimes I wish I could read them faster, like this one. Natalie Sullivan lives in a vacation town, Albany Beach, Delaware. The locals appreciate the beautiful beach area and the dollars the tourists bring in every year. As a local, Natalie is used to the hustle and bustle of the area and this summer her oldest child, her daughter is working a summer job at one of the local hot spot shops. She befriends the new girl, a teen several years older than her and more outgoing. Natalie is happy her daughter is being brought out of her shell. When she gets a look at her daughter's friend a flood of emotions comes rushing over her, see she has a secret she's only told a few people. Namely her husband, parents and best friend. When she was a teen on a summer trip abroad, she got pregnant and gave up her first child in a closed adoption. At the end of her childbearing years, she is regretting this decision and would like to find her daughter. Now she's wondering, is it possible, could it be....... is her daughter's new friend actually her oldest daughter. They do look very similar she thinks. Then the book progresses as the two girls become close friends and Natalie has so many conflicting emotions wondering if it's her daughter as she and the girl become close to the dismay of her daughter who thinks it's weird. She can't tell her daughter her secret, her hormones are raging; and her husband is fed up with how it's affecting the whole family. See, her daughter's best friend is adopted, is it her daughter? When her best friend's daughter decides to try to find her birth mother Natalie is afraid of what the results may be. This book had my emotions all over the place. A sure not to miss tension filled summer read.

Now I wish I had as it would have been more of a way to feel connected to her, but I have plenty of other wonderful memories. I think this is only the second book or so that I've read of that takes place in a yarn shop. The descriptions of the varieties of yarns, the patterns, types of needles, haberdashery and the encouraging customers was a soothing balm. The book was a comfort to read. An unexpected letter is what Cleo receives at the yarn shop that's been passed down through various family members for 40 years. The lease is up, and she'll have to relocate. New York's rents are outrageous and she's not even sure she can find an accessible shop not too far away from all her customers. New York is nothing like Cotswold where Cleo is from but it's home now that she's managing her family's Little Knitting Box yarn shop. How can she ever leave it? Dylan, divorced father of two, a young boy and girl, has recently had his mother pass away and is enjoying working from home rather than at the corporate office. His wife is regretting the divorce and wants a second chance at their marriage. All Dylan wants is to be the best father for his children he can and possibly a chance with Cleo from the Little Knitting Box. The author beautifully takes us through the ups and downs of the emotions involved in the various relationships. Cleo has a secret she's hiding from him. Will this relationship be able to progress with the controlling ex-wife seemingly dominating his time? I really liked Cleo's employee Kaisha; she has a great fun personality. Fun, festive, warm and welcoming this was a read I'll be reading again at some time.

Mackinac Island is famous for its fudge and the tourists in the summer make it a little hard for the locals to get around. Hotel and fudge shop owner Mackinac Island is famous for its fudge and the tourists in the summer make it a little hard for the locals to get around. Hotel and fudge shop owner Allie McMurphy is always busy doing fudge demonstrations and giving out chunks of that fudge to drum up business. That July evening, when she was set on watching the Midsummer Night’s Festival, she had to take her little dog home first to protect his ears from the fireworks. A relaxing evening was not to be had by this amateur sleuth though as she sees a body floating in the water. There's the local crowning of the queen and a parade with floats but not everyone is in agreement of who should have been the queen. Could some sour grapes have entered into this deadly competition? A cozy mystery with animals and a bakery or fudge shop? I'm all in. Despite keeping the tourists distracted by the sticky sweet fudge she's making Allie and her boyfriend the cop is working the case from every angle. This charming cozy has a fudge or baked goods recipe after every chapter. This is another cozy series that I've read some but not all of the books in it and will be needing a catch up.

Dating an Italian racecar driver just ups her social status and makes her crave the passion and adventures that come with being with a wealthy man of status. Despite her yearning it is not to be as her family puts a stop to it, not uncommon for a young woman in those days. Never having forgotten the beauty and charm of the Greenbrier in West Virginia, Dorothy returns there thirty-eight years later as a divorced woman and her eye for beauty and style leads her to become CEO of America’s first interior design firm. She is tasked with restoring the Greenbrier to become more elegant than the original design. Her bold and brilliant prints are ahead of her time and one of a kind. Her unconventional methods of design lead some to give her designing suggestions but she won't back down. Her whole life was the Greenbrier and she absolutely loved it there. "Based on the true story of famed designer Dorothy Draper, The Grand Design is a moving tale of one woman’s quest to transform the walls that hold her captive."

Be still my beating heart. What took me so long to read this book, it's her debut book as well. As young teens a young girl and her family spend summerBe still my beating heart. What took me so long to read this book, it's her debut book as well. As young teens a young girl and her family spend summers at the beach in their cottage where she meets two teen brothers. The book is told in alternating time periods between today's time period when they are all adults and back when they were teens. It's a friends to lovers kind of romance. All three are friends but she gravitates to one of the brothers and over their teenage years it gradually changes from best friends spending summers together to more as they get into older teenage years. The author reels you in and you care about the characters, you are rooting for them. It's an awakening of senses, a vulnerability, a coming alive and coming into your own. This summer romance has turned into so much more. It's smooth sailing and you don't see it coming then you get gut punched! No, it couldn't have possibly happened! There's no forgiveness! You start to slightly recover and please, please, NO ! You can't believe what you're reading. It's just not possible. The author just brought the story to life!

If you enjoy reading dual time spans and learning from what you read may I suggest this to you? The book is fictional though the subject matter is about past events taking place in Ukraine. The story follows an Ukrainian family and their struggle for survival as the country is forced to go through Holodomor. I had never heard of this or learned about this in school . Holodomor is a forced starvation from 1932 to 1933 killing up to 5 million people. It was carried out by the Soviet Regime. The characters in the present day story are linked to the characters in the past by a discovered journal telling of the hardships suffered in the past. The thing really impressing me was the resilience and strength the characters show through adversity. This is a very interesting book that shows strong courage and unwavering hope. We are assured there is light after the darkness. Highly recommended!

I've always loved this author's books and this one is my new favorite. Her storytelling is fabulous, her imagination more than impressive. It would be interesting talking with her and finding out what inspires her stories. A sanitarium would be a depressing place to be ,wondering if you would ever be able to leave, so would an orphanage. But this is where Rose and her two daughters are in the mid-nineteen twenties when Rose is struck with tuberculous and she has no one to care for her children. She promises she'll be out quickly so they can be together again. Her daughters are young, the older protecting the younger. The time slowly passes, the mother is sad and lonely despairing of never seeing her daughters again. The girls starting to forget what mother looks like but never forgetting her love for them. Able to finally get out it seems as though it's a dream to be able to stay at her brother-in laws farm, Meadowland with her daughters. The girls help their mother and the youngest has a special affinity with nature and animals. Her brother in-law is a sad man grieving his past, not wanting to talk about it and keeping his heart shut tightly to any possibility of love. The girls at his farm start to make a big change in his heart as he's able to let love in again. I enjoyed seeing a spiritual growth in him. It's amazing what a crow and the man's visitors can do to start his healing process for his heart. We don't have to keep everything bottled up inside, healing is available if we just embrace it. So full of emotions, you will love this book and want to read it more than once. I know this book will stay with me for a long time.

We need to never forget those who were tortured during the Holocaust. Though fictionalized the story is based on fact. My heart aches for the people subjected to such inhumane treatment. I really don't understand how they could treat another human being they way they did. This is based on two midwives in Europe during WW11 who are sent to Auschwitz along with so many others. In the face of adversity these woman gave the laboring women a ray of hope,a glimpse of goodness and kindness. The midwives put these women's needs ahead of their own, not knowing if they'd see their own families again. This didn't stop them from giving the women and babies the best possible chance at life. Reading this book book absolutely broke my heart. I have never read such a realistic book about Auschwitz! Though hard to read it's such an important story that needed telling!

I always look forward to reading her new books when she releases one. I can imagine biblical fiction would not be easy to write and I can see this is well researched. The author brings to life what may have happened, why and the effects of these decisions. Very well done mixing fact and fiction into a compelling read.

Not many authors can write different genres as well as this one does. But she writes books that are done equally well in each genre she writes. This book has a unique look at time traveling. When our main character goes to sleep in one time period she'll wake up in another time period without any time having passed. She splits her time between 1774 Colonial Williamsburg and the other in 1914 Gilded Age New York City. There are positives and negatives in each time period and she lives a very different life in each one. I enjoyed reading the rich historical details about each time period. There comes a time when she must make a very important decision about which time period she will stay in as she will not be able to return to the other. I never thought I would enjoy time travel books but the author draws you into the story and makes it so fascinating that you can't help but love it!

The unique thing that binds the two-time groups together is a unique ring that is the focus of a mystery after it resurfaces again after many years. Full of intrigue, strength of character, action and inspiration. I enjoyed learning about the Alamo, it's history and the events that led up to it.

I have read all of the bookReview on my blog here https://veganbookblogger.wordpress.co... The author writes in many genres and excels at all of them. I have read all of the books in this series, all wonderful but this one is my favorite. Brody is a broken man from his time spent in the Civil War and what he blames himself for being unable to do. Spending time with his little niece relaxes him and makes him feel whole again. Though he may not show it outwardly he has a tender heart , especially when it comes to the wild horses in the area who are being killed by local ranchers when their cattle don't have enough of the lush grass for grazing. Despite no formal training Savannah Marshall has vet smarts after working with a trained veterinarian for many years. Wanting to please her father she agrees to marry a man of his choosing but decides against it at the last minute and runs away. Not having a destination in mind she gets to town and sees a horse being terribly mistreated and rushes to treat it. Two tender hearts meet then, Brody with his love of animals and Savannah with her doctoring knowledge and her love of animals. Savannah is on the run and her family wants her back but will love be able to run wild and free like the horses when she is found or will her heart be caged? We also get a glimpse of Brody's sister in this story, she will not be held back. She is free spirited and I love her personality. I'll bet there will be a book telling her story soon and I can't wait to read it. I loved this book!
