This is such a sweet, adorable book. It’s told from Al’s POV and it’s basically him telling the story of key points of his relationship with Larry. You see, Al is kinda “simple”. A lot like a big scary teddy bear that is “refreshingly direct.” He’s a little innocent and not very book smart. He just kinda goes with the flow and doesn’t make any waves. Then one night he meets Larry, a college professor, in a dark alley. And that’s where Al starts the story.
It took me til about midway through before I really fell in love with story. Al is such a sweetheart and Larry just loves him for who he is. I found it to be quite romantic even though it did have a lot of sex.
Some of my favorite quotes:
I went and kissed him to wake him up just like Sleeping Beauty. Although I guess with me it was more like Beauty and the Beast.
I didn’t say nothing ‘cause there was lots of stuff we hadn’t done. I hoped Larry didn’t want to get into weird shit like PVC, ‘cause that stuff gives me a rash.
”You reckon? There’s nothing of me in that boy. Not a bleedin’ thing. When the midwife give him to me, I said ‘Take him back, I asked for a small one!’ And she goes ‘Sorry, love, round here all sales are final!’ and hands me a flippin’ elephant! Bleedin’ massive, he was. If it’d been up to me, I’d still’ve been on the gas and air three weeks later. He’s the spit of his father, though, bless him.”
She calls me Al, and I call her Ali, which always makes me smile, ‘cause it sounds like alley and reminds me of when me and Larry first met.
I recommend this to everyone! It’s refreshing and unique…just like Al!!
Last Line: (view spoiler)[So anyway, I guess it’s not just fucking after all, Larry and me. Although, you know, the fucking’s pretty good too.(view spoiler)[

I’ve put off this review for too many weeks, so I might as well finally get it over with. I really, REALLY liked Ransom, the first book in this series. And usually, I’m not often a fan of reading series continuing with the same established couple, but since Ransom ended with a nice HFN, I was really looking forward to continuing with Davy and Will’s story.
This book is a third edition, and it appears to me that it was once two separate novellas: Winds of Change and Eye of the Storm. Well, it’s still two separate story plots that have now been combined into one…compilation novel.
First up is Winds of Change, and you guessed it: there is a lot of change happening in Will and Davy’s careers…and relationship. The story picks up about a year or so after Ransom, Davy and Will are still hot and heavy every chance they get, which isn’t much considering they are stuck on a ship weeks to months at a time. I liked this story better than the following one even though it is quite depressing!! It does have some nice twists, but I wasn’t too crazy about the scheme they had going on to try to reveal a traitor…then the whole traitor plot was kinda dropped and quickly explained in one or two sentences near the end.
There are A LOT of things happening in Davy and Will’s relationship. Of course they are madly and completely in love with each other, but they each feel like they don’t deserve the other. And that became very tiresome…FAST! Luckily, they both came to their senses at the end of the first story.
Next is Eye of the Storm and it picks up just a few minutes after where Winds of Change ends. Seriously, I almost took a break between the two stories, but I’m so glad I didn’t because it nearly continues on with the very next sentence.
I can’t remember much about this story at all; I guess I should go ahead and say I really didn’t like it and I wasn’t even a little bit interested in their mission. Davy and Will are still having some relationship problems…mostly Will is still being a coward and obviously learned nothing from what all he went through in Winds of Change. Thankfully, by the end, Davy finally sets Will straight and I believed their words of commitment to be genuine. But I still didn’t like this installment of Will and Davy’s journey.
Home is the Sailor is the next book in this series, and I will definitely be reading it to see what happens next with Will and Davy, but I think I will take a little break before I read it. I still love these two together!

Milo Callan has lived his life confined to a wheelchair after a childhood illness (I’m guessing Polio) rendered his legs almost useless. When Milo is old enough to receive his inheritance, his family abandons him and sends him off to live the remainder of his life in seclusion. “Living” is not something Milo has been enjoying, and when his valet dumps him on the floor and quits after Milo’s latest outburst, Milo is left in a desperate situation. When the new grounds keeper, Robert Grange, agrees to stand in as Milo’s temporary valet, Milo is in for a shock when Robert sees through his nasty temper and decides to bring companionship and pleasure to Milo’s life.
Ruby Moone is a new-to-me author, so I was surprised I really enjoyed this little story. And I mean “little” because it can easily be read in an hour. I don’t come across many historicals with characters having disabilities, so I always jump on them when I see them. I thought the author did a good job with Milo’s demeanor and how he saw his shortcomings…and how Robert was able to see past the “shell”.
It’s a sexy short story and I really liked the dynamics between Milo and Robert’s sex-play. There is a little D/s, but nothing intense enough to get anxious over. I just wish the story would have been a bit longer and I could have seen more of Milo and Robert “falling in love” and not just arguing or having sex.
I also found quite a few editing issues, mainly numerous missing open quotation marks in dialogue early in the story that caused me some confusion. Note: I read an advanced copy so I’m not 100% certain these will be found in the final, published version.
Overall, I enjoyed it and I’m glad I had an opportunity to read Milo and Robert’s story.

As with Out in the Open and Out on a Limb, I ended up binge reading this book! I started reading late one night, planning to stop after only a few chapters, and next thing I know it’s 3 in the morning and I’m almost finished!! Work was EXTREMELY painful the next day.
More about the book…
When Mac arrives to Browerton his freshman year, he’s determined to be out and proud. He meets Gideon at a fresher mixer and determines there is a high probability that Gideon is flirting with him. When Mac finally makes a move, Gideon is horrified and the two men spend the next two years avoiding each other. Flash-forward past those two years: Gideon is suddenly in need of a roommate, and Mac shows up knocking on his door looking to rent a room.
I LOVED this book!! No, it isn’t perfect and is entirely too predictable, but it just hit on all the things I love when reading new adult. Especially when it comes to the CRAZY HOT experimentation…and everything else that comes with a good out-for-you story. Both guys have their quirks: Gideon, the compulsive liar and neat-freak, and Mac, the slobby roommate with the massive “non-banana” hidden in his Jenga-ish pile of junk. Gideon with his fear of no longer being the “good son” and Mac with his fear of being left alone and rejected. Somehow, Gideon and Mac are able to overcome their differences and reservations and discover they were meant to be together in the end. But it won’t be easy getting there.
Both characters were believable and easy to connect with. I smiled, I laughed out loud, and I even teared up a few times…sad tears and happy tears. I don’t want to spoil the ending, but I was happy it ended with all the big obstacles resolved.
Oh oh oh, I almost forgot to mention the few cameos of Greg and Ethan from Out in the Open. Again, I also recommend their book, but it isn’t necessary to enjoy Gideon and Mac’s story.
Hmm, who will become the next gay love story at Browerton University??

The plot was interesting, but the book as a whole was kinda boring and had difficulty holding my attention.
So much of the "story" was being told and it was difficult to follow because I couldn't keep up with what was currently happening, or what was occurring as part of a "vision" or "story"
It was very introspective and had very little dialogue
It was kinda depressing and weird
