I really like this series. They are too long to be called novellas and a bit shorter than the average current UF series novel, but they go down as quickly as novellas.
While Discordia does have a touch of the "special snowflake" trope happening, it's framed in such a way that it's not intolerable or intrusive. It's also another one of the things that is slowly being revealed as the series goes on. One of the things that I love about the series is that Cordi is always growing and learning, there is always character growth for herself and many of the secondary recurring characters.
The stories are engaging, fast paced, and there is just enough romance and smexy to know that it's there but not so much to wonder if this is actually a romance rather than an urban fantasy.
This addition to the series was no exception to the previous ones. I look forward to these books. I consider the series one of my finds of the year.

There was a lot of personal growth for Jane in this installment, which was my biggest complaint with the last one. She's rediscovering who she is and how that relates to the world. I liked that a lot.
I'm getting pretty tired of her being involved with impossible guys, though. This book added a new one to the mix and brought the other two back (when I thought one of the other two was gone). Although I've always been a big Bruiser fan and this book had lots of him in it I can't say that I enjoyed his interaction that much. It's abundantly obvious that he can't ever make her his priority and I'd like to see Jane have someone in her life that puts her first. She's never had that and deserves it. Leo and Bruiser and Katie pissed me off enough to want them all staked.
I like the new guy well enough but feel pretty neutral about him over all. We'll see how it develops. I found his younger brother to be a more interesting character.
The end left me wondering if the series was going to go in a new direction, as the entire book seemed to be moving towards, of if it was going to slide back into the same format-becoming-formula of all the previous books.
Either way, I enjoyed this book a great deal. Quite possibly the best in the entire series so far.

One of the shorts is from Beast's POV from the hunger times. The writing was a little disjointed but it was very short and conveyed beasts' thinking adequately.
Two of the shorts were from Molly's perspective and it was nice to get to know her better. I think it will fatten the Jane stories for me.
The last short was from Jane's POV, occurring between books 4 & 5. It's nice to see Jane find another way.

I have considered Thea Harrison's Elder Races series a fine example of the way paranormal romance (PNR) should be written since the very first book, having devoured each and every offering in the series as "must read." I am not a huge romance fan and I need a well written story over and above the relationship to hold my interest, I need well done and, for the most part, plausible adult content and I need a well wrapped book arc with no marketing manipulation endings.
Until Night's Honor Thea Harrison was one of a short list of people who offered those very things.
If you do not like cliff hangers or endings that are overt and blatant attempts to sell you the next book then just stop reading Night's Honor at the last chapter, and avoid the Epilogue. Even at that you will have disproportionately more romance angst than non-relationship story. In truth the entire book felt a bit like a set up for the next book, an introduction to the politics of the Vampyre Demense, its heavy hitters, and what the conflicts are as well as the romance background of the next books' protagonists. But avoid the Epilogue if you don't want to close the book feeling like you slogged through 300 pages of teaser.
I wish I had.

Not bad, but it had a tough time holding my attention. It's a good premise but I suspect the reveals towards the end, which seem incidental, will be the lead in to making this a series. Even so, it's a stand alone story that has a different approach to what is becoming stereotypical fare with supernatural subject matter. The primary protagonists are human, plain and simple, and the supes sort of happen around them. As expected, time travel is the primary supernatural focus. The love story was nice enough and there were some sexy times, but the male protag was difficult to like so it took me a long time to really care what happened to these two.
It's got potential. I will probably read the next one to see where it goes.

It's got all the heat we'd expect from our favorites. There is not really any new ground covered here except to say that it's nice to see Anita no longer torn over her sexuality. That was becoming extremely onerous and tiresome and it's refreshing to see her just enjoy that part of herself now without needing to grieve herself and everyone else over it.
There is also a scene that is a sneak peek at the next book, Kiss the Dead (#21 in the series).
I agree with the general consensus that at 2.99 the piece is exorbitantly over priced. That said, I rate based on the content not the price, particularly since I have no way of knowing if the price was set by the author or the publisher and it doesn't really have anything to do with the story.
This is a 4 star sex scene but I'm so used to seeing that quality of sex scene in the Anita Blake series that it's not special.

I would recommend that someone who wanted to get the most out of this series stop reading it at book 8 and then go read the others before continuing.
I very much felt like I was missing huge chunks of the story because I hadn't read the other series and the shorts. **************** Actually listening to the audio (which isn't currently listed on GRs) and am finding that I feel like I missed a book. There is a novella in between this book and the prior book and I'm thinking it's probably pretty necessary for continuity sake although I haven't read it yet.
I just feel like I missed critical plot points.

This book is everything I hate about YA. The MC is a rock with lips, she makes nothing but stupid choices, she trusts the people who abuse her and lie to her, and she's got that "I know he's bad for me but he's so hot I can't help myself" stupidity in spades. Did I mention a lot of this drivel happens in high school? Hers is the child's head I just don't want to spend time in.
What's more, I really hate it when an author doesn't have the sense to parse out the fact that "I could care less" is WRONG and nonsensical. The phrase is "I couldn't care less." I expect that stupidity from Joe Blow street thug, not from a published author.
I gave it two stars because the narrator is competent and, if the reviews of the written version are to be believed, she makes something almost intelligible out of something so poorly written that it might not otherwise be so.

I am going to have to do a series reread, I think. I have no memory of Ravyn or Savhage or any of these people.

Yes, there's still a lot of sex.
I love that LKH pioneered the reverse harem urban fantasy series with this series, before it was even called reverse harem. She sure has taken it on the chin for developing the genre.
