That book is the epitome of superawesomesaucy. The last book had left me somewhat disappointed but this one totally revived all the trill and excitement most of the other books had managed to instill in me.
This was unlike any other book. The entire vibe it gave off. The rich plot. Ugh, absolutely amazing. In case you didn't know, in this one they go on a road trip, Jenks, Ivy, Rachel and and and and Trent. Man, I love Trent, he's incredible and after this book he became my favorite.
There's no need to say that during the road trip lots of things go awry but that doesn't stop them from reaching their destination, going to hell and back, losing some fingers and more, more and more.
So let me think what else was new. Hmm, witches, lots of witches, demons, some new and some old, Vegas, burning down a place, an unexpected kiss. Should I spoil it further for you? No kidding though, if you think that these are spoilers, go ahead and cuss at me but you know nothing.
This series even after so many books, never stops surprising me in a very good way. Endless action, combined with lots of snarky comments from sassy, amazing characters. And also the fact that Harrison has taken character development to a whole new level. The change in every character, even secondary ones, it is palpable.
Tink's red thong, that was awesome. I can only just keep expecting to be surprised and keep loving this series until it's very end. It just 4 more books. *sigh*...more

While this, like its predecessorsIf I'm being honest then this did not live up to my expectations. I expected something more than some random action. While this, like its predecessors, was highly entertaining it lacked the thrill the others gave me. By the time I had finished the book I was feeling as if the plot had become extremely thin on the last few pages. The ending was nowhere near satisfying..
Now, as for the characters, in this one my disappointment in Rachel skyrocketed.. I hate how she can't control her sexual attraction, and yes, sometimes it's good to keep that thing in check instead of sleeping with whomever makes her blood run high because for her, that means T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
This book also has a returning character. Won't mention his name, but I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. I also didn't like how judgmental Rachel was of him.. She's done some pretty bad things for the sake of her friends, she's taken lots of smut and she keeps on getting more and more tangled up in her mess. Meanwhile, she just won't let the guy forget what he's done, and I'll admit he's not a saint, but has she ever stopped to think about what made HIM do the things he does? Nope.
The only part in this book that made me feel some thrill was something that has to do with an important loss in Jenks life. I won't delve into that one because the wound is fresh for me and Jenks both..
I just hope that the next novel in the series works out some of the malfunctions this one had for me.....more

This How could I not love this like all of the previous books? Not sure when there's going to be a book in this series that I do not give it 5 stars. This one deserved every single one of them, and so did its predecessors.
A child banshee unable to control her powers and a mother bringing hell on earth to keep her safe and to herself. Bashees suck on emotion and eventually kill you. I dig this hard, it's amazing to see how powerful some creatures are and it's not even a demon.
After the events of the last book, now that we know that every child Rachel has is going to become a demon.. She's acting nonchallant about it but it hurts her. Hell, who wouldn't it hurt?
Rachel and Ivy are working things out, they are again at a good place, maybe the best they've been. Ivy is controlling her bloodlust better than ever and that's affecting their relationship.
I loved how Rachel kept Marshall at distance. Rachel and Marshall get a no from me. But that's all in the past now. A new love interest arrives. Hmm, well, it arrived on the last pages of the book. And it made Rachel realize something.
Kisten's killer is found. Yes, yes. Finally. I was disappointed by this but it's okay because there were many other things that surprised me throughout the book, so I'll forgive the author for that.
Wow, I'm on to the next one now. The 8th book in the series. This may actually be the longest series that I've ever tried to read. It's worth its time, undoubtedly. ...more

The plot thickens more and we still have no clue as to who killed (view spoiler)[Kisten (hide spoiler)] and I will admit I may be a little bit bothered by that. But this book took a complete different turn.
Rachel is still struggling with her feelings and she is extra reckless, I'd say. She's grown so much as a person since book 1 and I'm proud of where she is but I'd lie if I'd say that thing don't get fucked up in this book for her and I thought it impossible for her situation to get any worse.
If you've loved all the previous books, then there's no doubt that you'll like this one too for the simple reason that the author still manages to keep everything interesting. I haven't lost interest yet.
If you wait for some Rachel-Ivy action then you may get disappointed.. I did, too. I'm not a hardcore shipper but there's an undeniable love between them and a bond too, that could easily evolve into something else if Rachel gave them a chance. At the end of the day, I just want them to be happy.
I'll dive into the next book soon and hope we get some answers because I'm dying to see the person responsible for (view spoiler)[Kisten's (hide spoiler)] death suffer the same fate. ...more

“There were no more choices, no more options, no more clever ways out of a tough situation. And the rush, I realized in a brutal wash of despair, is a false god I’ve chased my entire life. One that cost me everything in the blind search for sensation. My entire existence amounted to nothing.”
I have no idea how I found the courage to read this book until it's very end. This one was full of suspense and a constant stress and a feeling that someone wouldn't come out of this alive, and for once, I was right.. Someone did not get out alive..
Of course, I have to praise other elements in this novel as well, like the fact that by each book of this series I read I'm struck by how much character development there is. In a way, I'm reminded of those children books I've read where we grow up along with the characters. This series is like that, only it's not for kids, it's for grown-ups and it's targetting a more mature audience. I love how intertwined this is with real life elements but at the same time it's kept grounded to the paranormal.
Rachel has grown so much on me since the first book. She's a great character and she's so caring. There's no boundaries where her friends' lives are concerned. No lengths she wouldn't go to for them in order to keep them alive and breathing.
Ivy is one of the most powerful vampires, she's still a person though and she has feelings and she hurts and I'm sure by now that she is the most sensitive of our characters and I feel for her on so many levels. She is my favorite and I don't even have to justify myself.
This book is the most personal one yet. I mean that it's just that our characters are a family now. It's like this tight family that deals with its problems as a team. Did they have to get separated? Yes. Did they have to work alone and make decisions alone? Yes. But ultimately they'd all be affected the same if one of them died.
Should I go back to the death comment? No, I don't want to spoil you.. But the death shattered me.. I had grown to love this character.
I hope the next book is more fun and less heartbreak even though I'm sure that whichever it is, I'm going to love it just the same....more

“As the joke goes, you don’t have to be faster than the wolf chasing you, just faster than everyone else running away.”
Undoubtedly the best book in the series, and by far the most action-packed one too. Mrs. Harrison has set the bar too high for me and unless the next book is just as good I will be a tad bit disappointed. This did the trick for me. If I didn't love the series before now I definitely do. The more this series progresses and I get to see and know more of the characters, the more I bond with the characters and feel for them.
The key word in this novel is the world 'Weres' because that's who's after Rachel and her friends. Nick is back and he is worse than ever and we see an aspect of him that we had never seen before. Jenks is back, and I must admit, I missed him dearly.
Someone took something from the Weres, or rather, someone didn't deliver something to them, something powerful, something that could easily ignite a war between the kinds.
This book is so action-packed. The kind of action that has a point. I don't mean running around doing nothing. It's the sort of action that makes your blood run high and that's exhilarating.
There were plot twists, things you didn't see coming. Things involving certain characters, that will blow your mind. Maybe one of those things is something that many of you wanted to happen for quite some time now. Or things you wished that never happened because from now on shit will be going down.
This book has cemented another storyline and I love how this series just keeps getting more and more complicated without buffling you but it takes one problem at a time and solves it slowly. I love how Mrs. Harrison has built this world, she's an incredible world-builder and a much nicer character-developer. ...more

And I sure as hell hope it won't because so far I'm loving every second of reading this series. It's fast-paced, the action is abundant and there are so many characters I just can't help but love.
As you must have assumed, Rachel finds herself in an impossible situation once again. As the shit hit the fan and everything goes to hell. Rachel must find a way to get herself out of the deal with Algaliarept without getting herself or her friends killed in the process.
In each book, it's apparent how much she grows to love her friends, Jenks & Ivy and that's admirable. In this book we don't see much of Jenks, which was the result of Rachel keeping things from him.
I love Ivy, she's so badass and at the same time so sensitive and so emotional and she has a heart of gold, even if she's a vampire. She wants Rachel's blood and that's her nature and I understand it wholeheartedly and I love how she respects Rachel's decision and doesn't act upon her instincts.
Rachel & Nick grow apart. Instead, there's a new love interest for Rachel, I'm sure you all know who that is. I'm talking of course about (view spoiler)[Kisten (hide spoiler)], he's total badass and while he's a complete diffrent person than Nick, he can be just as sweet but I'll say, yes, more hot. He & Rachel have some pretty steamy, hot and heavy, moments where they undress each other with their eyes.
This book introduces a new character which I'm sure we'll see more of. I grew to love Trent who I simply found interesting in the previous books. He's amazing and I want more of him in the next books, he's a fucking genious and not as much of a villain as I thought he was.
The key word about this series is action. There's lots of it. There's action in the most unexpected moments, and it'll come right when you thought things would get boring and everything gets interesting. It's refreshing. Mrs. Harrison does a good job of keeping her readers on the edge....more
I'll say it again. If you're fan of a good read with amazing characters with snarky retorts and sassy attitudes and you love yourself some action-packI'll say it again. If you're fan of a good read with amazing characters with snarky retorts and sassy attitudes and you love yourself some action-packed urban fantasy then don't hesitate, do read this. I am most pleased by how this book turned out. It was a nice surprise that it kept getting better than the first novel and I actually liked it even more. Since I gave the first book 5 stars it's only fair that I give this 5 stars as well.
There is a little bit more romance in this one. If you remember Nick from the first book, well, he's Rachel's boyfriend and their relationship is kind of cute to read and I kind of like them together but to be honest I wouldn't mind if they seperated.
There is a witch hunter on the loose. More like a ley-witch hunter and Rachel, Jenks & Ivy (from time to time) help the FIB, along with Glenn (Edden's son) to find out and apprehend the killer. Not surprisingly all eyes turn to Trent and Rachel tries to incriminate him for the killings and watch him going down.
There are twists, many of them. There is tention between our characters & lots of unpredictability, which I liked a lot. Our characters aren't simple, they're complicated and they have problems and they're trying to work through them. I'm glad that this book changed my opinion about Rachel, which I grew to love in this one. In the first book I liked her but didn't quite find her as fascinating as I thought she would be. Ivy is still one hell of a vamp and I adore her and I hate how she's struggling and faces everything on her own. I want her friends to stand up for her, finally!
This book was so fun, fun, fun. There is drama but all the fun drowns out the drama and I had a great time reading it, laughing and snorting. There is so much action, there's always action and it'll come right when you didn't expect it.
Can't wait to dive into the next book and devour it like I did this one. ...more
Imagine a world where every kind of supernatural creature was walking out in the streets without a care in the world about being seen by a human.
Well,Imagine a world where every kind of supernatural creature was walking out in the streets without a care in the world about being seen by a human.
Well, after a disease (enhanced by biodrugs because of course us, humans, are pretty stupid at the end of the day, okay) wiped out most humans and the supernatural was forced to come to light since they were immune to it, the world is mostly run by the supernatural considering how they've come to outnumber us. And overpower us. There's definitely that, too.
Witches, vampires, faeries, pixies, warlocks, demons.. Oh and much much more, I won't even delve into the kinds.
Rachel Morgan is part of an organization that is responsible for handling rogue supernatural creatures. It's IS. Inderlander Security. Inderlander are called those with special abilities & generally every kind of creatures is part of the supernatural world. There's also the human counterpart of IS which is the FIB, and they handle different matters and anything they can't handle they hand on to the IS.
Rachel Morgan isn't happy with her life. She works, works, work and she does nothing else but work. She doesn't have friends. She doesn't have a boyfriend. Until one day her boss decides to fire her and since Rachel and Ivy, a hot, tempered living vampire made a pact to leave the IS together, her boss puts a price on her head for taking Ivy with her. Yes, no one can ever leave the IS. You'll either be fired or you'll leave on your own and have your head served on a plate in a few months on the boss' desk.
Ivy is one hell of a vampire. She's a living vampire, meaning she is a vampire who has the 'virus' of vampirism but hasn't still died. Meaning she's not so bloodlusty as the dead vampires and that she can go out into the sun. In Rachel's team there's also Jenks, a pixy who's snarky and about all kinds of awesome.
I haven't told you what these 3 are trying to do together. Well, let me give you a clue. Someone is creating and shipping off biodrugs which is the very reason of the extinction of half the human populace. They know exactly who he is. The problem is that they do not have enough evidence to incriminate him.
A very captivating novel and very well-written, I'll admit. With snarky & sharp characters who are funny and work amazingly as a team. The author manages to make it fast-paced without leaving out anything and accomplishes to satisfy all of my expectations. I didn't have high expectations but I definitely do have those for the next installment in the series. I hope it's as thrilling as this was. ...more

“The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.”
Finally, I see what all the fuss is about. Brandon Sanderson is a masterful author, capable of bringing into being every emotion, scene or type of character, in the best possible and realistic way, with the most difficult of genres, that of high-epic fantasy.
Excellent prose, amazing quotes, and memorable characters that keep humanity and its values intact. I would refer to Mr. Sanderson as the contemporary J. R. R. Tolkien, because he has all the realism Tolkien had but at the same time, he built a world, so original and so magical, with fantasy overflowing from every single sentence, just like Tolkien.
First and foremost, I'd like to point out that despite the length of the book, it's not at all tiring, and no matter when you decide to pick it up, you'll read it pleasantly. Even when you put it down and decide to pick it up again after a full week or two, every word said by Mr. Sanderson will be as fresh in your mind as it was two weeks ago, and that takes talent to achieve.
This book is mainly about history being repeated. Events that happened long ago are now brewing anew again. There are so many characters in this book, and they're all connected somehow, through history, old and new. Some come together, some not but they all have one thing in common. Their lives have changed dramatically over the past few years, either because of choices they made, or because someone decided on their behalf.
We have Roshar. A kingdom, I'll call it, because there are many people living there, of different nationality. Some are unknown to many and some are famous for their prowess to rule. In this case, it's the Alethi, the people who rule, Dalinar and his sons, Adolin and Renarin, are Highprinces, Dalinar is the uncle of the Alethi king, Elhokar, and brother of the former, assassinated king, Gavilar. Alethkar is at war with the people who allegedly killed Gavilar, the Pashendi.
Meanwhile, the sister of Elhokar, Jasnah, is far away from the war, doing a research that is later revealed to us, and I was certainly surprised by the discovery she's made. She takes in a young ward, Shallan, but what Jasnah doesn't know is that Shallan has plans of her own.
Actively a bridgeman, practically a slave, Kaladin risks his life every day to assist in a war he's not interested in dying for. Far away from his home, devastated by recent events and a future brighter than he expects, he discovers he's not at all what he thought he was. Through slavery and darkness, a leader is born.
I'm so overwhelmed by this book, I didn't expect to like it half as much as I did. Five stars are not enough to give this book to. What I described, poorly to you above, is nothing compared to what this book is truly about. There's a lot of magic, through shards, magic, that I, personally, had never heard or read about before reading this book. It perplexed me at first, and I'm most certain it will baffle you too, but it'll whet your appetite and leave you wanting more and more of this.
The twists are many, the battles plenty, and the character delepment is in abundance. If you attempt to read this and end up hating it then I personally vow to let you stab me in the eye. xD...more

Do I start from the beginning? Well, I was and still am pumped for this book, for this series. It's a great series and although Susan Ee planned for it to be a 5 book series, it ended up being just 3 books, and this is the final one.
I'm sad that there won't be any more books coming from this series but I'd sure as hell love to read some other book Ee releases in the future. I'm quite sure, it's going to be amazing.
Her short sentences, and dialogues are amazing and despite my not liking dialogues all that much, she brings them on nicely and definitely adds to the amazing-ness of the story.
So, final chapter. Is it a happily ever after or is it a disastrous ever after? You'll have to read to find out.
If you're a fan, a shipper, of Penryn and Raffe then you'll probably love this book. It's the only book in the trilogy where we get some action between these two. Things get heated. Hot and bothered.
The book was gripping, it didn't let me go. I couldn't even get myself to leave the book aside and go pee. Yup. That's gripping to me. Uhm, there was action, constant action, and that's what I mainly love about this series. It's a dystopia, it has angels and it involves some drool-worthy action.
While Penryn has always been a badass, I think she's more confident in this one, she's more decisive. She becomes a leader. Raffe, okay, he's the tough type and while some authors get the whole attitude wrong, Ee did him justice, balancing the tough facade and his real self.
I only wish that after the final battle scene, the ending of the book would have laster a little while longer so I could have said my goodbyes more properly. Oh, and yes your eyes didn't trick you, there is a battle scene and I'm telling you this because it'll make you that much more anxious throughout the book....more

She writBy now I've read JLA a hundred times, I've read most of her books and each and every time she surprises me by how much she still has to give. She writes fun books that you just can't help liking, she is one of the best of her kind. I'm a sucker for paranormalcy.
This one was really wicked. Like really wicked and naughty. I guess maybe because it was new-adult and not young-adult like her previous paranormal works. Nonetheless, I liked it because it was action-packed and the storyline was such that appealed to me just by mentioning the word "fae". I had never read a fae book before, I've heard of them, surely, but I had never read a novel centered around the fae. It was interesting for me to get to know what the fae is, I like the beautiful sons of bitches and although they remind me a tad bit of vampires, they still rock.
JLA's characters are always interesting, so I'm glad she kept the tradition and created fun, complex, full of enery characters. Ivy is badass, most of the time she can make your head turn completely around by punching you in the face and she is pretty much dreamy and superawesomesaucy. Ren, well, he is kind of an alpha-male so, okay, go Ivy. But he still remains incredibly sweet and mushy. In other words, he's perfect for Ivy. Tink, oh Tink, my little cutie brownie (brownies are something like pixies with wings and six-packs, lol), he is just so adorable and so funny and so little. He was the best add for this book, he was always the one cracking jokes and his sassy mouth is everything the world has to offer.

So, the storyline follows Darrow as he's rising to become something more, something else for the sake of his caste. He lives in Mars, under the surface, trying to mine enough helium-3 in order to terraform the surface of Mars and make it habitable for him & all the other colors from Earth to move here. Earth is supposedly falling apart. Darrow is a Red. Reds are the slaves, those who are born to service & work. The entire system is based on eugenics. If you're born a child of a Gold then you're bound to become something big, relating to government. Golds & Silvers are the top ones, the ones that control. They run the economy, the government & everything relatable to the control of the planet, and not only.
Darrow has to become a Gold, has to transform himself, with the help of others. They made him stronger, faster, better. They turned him into someone else. So, he can inflitrate the society of Golds & get in the system. Undermine them, slowly & slothfully.
Well, I really don't want to spoil it for you. There are more colors regarding the castes & there are many more things to the castes than I let on.
It's a really well-structured book, fast-paced & the writing is incredible. Considering how young the author is I'm surprised it is that good. It's a very mature book, with mature writing and mature themes and while this is categorized as a young-adult I wouldn't recommend it to young-adult audiences.
The writing is very vivid, very gory at some points and it adds to the whole mature 'look' of the book. I actually loved how descriptive he is with the sight-seeings and how he captures the essence of all things and writes them down in a most enchanting way.
I loved Darrow and all the characters. They're nice built, with character development and most of them are sure of the things they want, and what they want from life. This was told from a first-person perspective so I expected to connect with everything Darrow said, and felt and in a way I did but not so much.. I certainly felt his emotions, felt his angst towards the world, his disappointment in all things, his passion to accomplish his mission and his determination to finish what he started. But I failed to connect with his acute cleverness & his prodigious self. I failed to understand him. Sometimes he was so complicated, so messed-up. Don't get me wrong, he has all the right in the universe to be messed-up and not okay but sometimes it was all too much. I think he lacked hope, he had the power to move on, to go on for the sake of Eo (his wife) but I was waiting for his break-down, for the moment he'd melt down and cry his eyes out and he did. I still loved Darrow though. He's an amazing character. Snarky & sharp. I just hope the next book brings that connection I'm talking about.

This book had me on edge the entire time. Just like the first one. But, truthfully, even more so. It solidified my love for both Mara and Noah. I just love them so so so much. They have both been through so much and not just now but their whole lives and it makes me so sad and I just want to protect them.
This one is better than the first. It had a tad bit of thriller vibe going on and I loved it. I loved the moments Mara and Noah had even though there weren't many. I loved the plot twists and believe me when I say that I didn't see that ending coming. I just hope that Jude is indefinitely dead and that NOAH IS ALIVE FOR GOD'S SAKE OR I WILL THROW A FIT.
I must admit this book kind of had me screaming either with the storyline flow, or with the plot twists and most definitely had me screeching from happiness whenever Noah and Mara would just TALK. The way they love, they want, and they need each other breaks me. Aah.
I cannot wait for the final book. Until then I'll be like; [image]...more

I'm actually a fan of Maggie Stiefvater, I've read other books of hers and I loved them and I thought this would be just as good. And now I'm wondering how can this series be her most read works when she has much better books??
So, the story is, a girl gets bitten by a wolf but does not turn into one and instead of being terrified of them, she adores them and grows into a wolf-stalker. She's particularly fond of a wolf with yellow eyes. When she grows up, she meets said wold, and they fall in love in a matter of five minutes. Ugh, blah blah..
I won't lie that when I started the book I was perplexed and thought I was reading a crossover of Harry Potter & The Mortal Instruments but as the booI won't lie that when I started the book I was perplexed and thought I was reading a crossover of Harry Potter & The Mortal Instruments but as the book went on the less it reminded me of those books and it started to make a story of its own which left me several times muttering 'wtf' and 'what the hell is going on'.
Callum is a such a great kid and you won't believe what's his story. Especially after you've read the last 40 or so pages. Tamara reminded me of Hermione because she's witty and quick-to-temper but that's the only similary between Harry Potter and Magisterium. Aaron is so adorable and cute and I bet most of you will want to pet him. Jasper adds a certain hostility to the book and although most of you will find him annoying I just think he is a great kid who's acting out because he's been under a lot of pressure.
The flow of the book is amazing and it's really fast-paced. The book is actually on a timeline of 7-8 months and it's well-structured.
It's a great world and a great story and with this book, both Holly and Cassie managed to win me over as a fan of the series and it's certain that I'm going to read the next book in the series. I actually cannot wait. Let me just say that the cliffhanger in the end of the book is HUGE HUGE HUGE and it made me wonder what there is to be done from here on out....more

“Oh, aye, Sassenach. I am your master . . . and you're mine. Seems I canna possess your soul without losing my own.”
Well, having read this only just yesterday and not being able to keep myself from mentioning some details about the book, I'll just say that there may be some spoilers in my review. Not big spoilers, never big spoilers. Just tiny ones about making you familiarized with the book's plot. Read this on your own volition.
When Claire Randall & her husband go to a second honeymoon at the Highlands in order to reconnect as a couple after WWII she never expected to be thrown inadvertently back in time, in the year of 1743 when the English & the Scots were at not so peaceful grounds. She suddenly becomes a Sassenach, an Outlander, and has to face clans & lairds & other things she's only ever read about in history. And now she's back again to being Claire Beauchamp.
When she travels back in time, she immediately falls into the hands of a captain of the dragoons, Jonathan Randall, an ancestor of her husband. Many call him Black Jack for his soul is dark. He jumps on her but she is saved by clansmen. Due to her being a nurse during WWII she helps save a young Scot man that is severely hurt and is taken back to Castle Leoch. The place where those who belong at the clan of Colum Mackenzie reside.
She has to face the suspicion & the doubt surrounding her by simply looking the other way while trying to be inconspicuous about where she comes from and how she came to be here. Everyone thinks she's an English spy & on top of that she has to face her own feelings and confussion of being thrown back in time. She's baffled and scared but still she handles it well. Claire is a really strong character and she adapts quickly. She's not easily scared, she's survived severed hands and torn soldiers and she sure as hell can get through this.
When she is discovered by English soldiers and is taken back into interrogation she is forced to come face to face, once again, with Captain Randall and plays her card with him. Dougal Mackenzie announces her that she is to be married. The only way of her ever slipping through Randall's fingers is if she takes Scottish citizenship by marrying a fellow Scot. She is to be married to Jamie Fraser, the lad she had saved back when she had first found herself in the hands of the clansmen and the only person she felt relaxed and easy around. Let's go back a bit.
Claire is one of those headstrong characters that once she sets her mind & eyes on something she'll do about anything in order to reach her goal. She is pigheaded, she always wants to do it her way. She's independent and she doesn't need anyone. At least, that was until she met Jamie Fraser. He is beautiful and he is young and he is gentle and he's the only one of the clansmen who's a bit more civilized and more lettered.
Jamie Fraser. Full name: James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser is an amazing, amazing characters. He's also the nephew of Colum & Dougal Mackenzie & he's a fugitive of the law. He's caring and he's protective of those he loves. He's strong & he's snarky & he is the only one who can handle Claire. He's also the only one she trusts and the only she feels she can talk to.
Once they get married, things get heated. Claire, even though she is married she cannot deny her attraction towards Jamie and Jamie is most glad that he doesn't have to hold back his feelings any more.
"When I asked my da how ye knew which was the right woman, he told me when the time came, I'd have no doubt. And I didn't. When I woke in the dark under that tree on the road to Leoch, with you sitting on my chest, cursing me for bleeding to death, I said to myself, 'Jamie Fraser, for all ye canna see what she looks like, and for all she weighs as much as a good draft horse, this is the woman'"
This book is not just romance, though romance is a big part of it and it's one of the best things about it. This book is about seeing the gap of generations, seeing how in 200 hundred years so many things have changed, not only epochal, but also people.. People have changed, their ways of mind and heart are completely different and Claire is forced to adapt or die. Mrs. Gabaldon does a very, very nice & thorough job of that. Her captiving & detailed writing is incredible. Her dialogues are amazing & she's created a plot so rich, with twists, fun & a romance that takes your breath away forever. It's also nice to see how Claire & Jamie work through their problems, how a love blossoms between them, so pure & so strong that they won't stop at anything in order to be together.
Even though there many details, many characters & a constant change of scenery the book never felt boring. Not for a second. Mrs. Gabaldon would always find something to keep your mind focused on her storytelling. She's pretty resourceful & she has lots of things to give.
The book really picked up from halfway on. The book was insane until the first half but then things got out of control. The action doubled & there were twists & what-the-fuck moments, favorites of mine. Also, it's humorous at times and that makes up for all the drama and it's very nice that both our characters are snarky and not afraid of telling one another how they really feel. Their relationship seems so genuine and so real. I can't really talk about them without getting emotional.
Mrs. Gabaldon is a master at romance just as she is a master at storytelling and keeping you on the edge. She can create hot & heavy scenes between our characters, with vivid sexual narration that makes your blood run high and the libido get out of control. She can either be gentle with their love making, or make it so hot you'll have to fan yourself.
That's about it. The ending is really, really satisfying. Actually, the last part is satisfying through & through. If you decide to pick this up, I hope you're not disappointed & instead love it as much as I did.
PS: 'Sassenach' is my new favorite word of endearment....more
