Poor Elena, a prolific writer with a lot of pressure on her shoulders. A truly horrific past, an idiot of a husband and a stalker. In walks Carlotta, the PA to save her.
I really felt for Elena, her life spirals out of control so quickly. Someone is really out to get her, and yet she really can't see what is in front of her face.
I flew through this book. It was addictive, despite Elena repeating herself a bit. As much at times, it was annoying, I also felt that in this book it was important to be reminded, to have it drummed in. It made the situation feel more perilous and sinister.
Then we have the introduction of Jack; if only he wasn't a character in a book! I loved him when he came on the page, he was a breath of fresh and for Elena the first sign of hope.
The answers are always right in front of us, despite not wanting to admit it. I was shouting at Elena quite a lot, I just wanted her to see sense!
As I say, intense, twisty and so so addictive!! ...more

I thought Lulu was a lovely girl, very unsure of herself and what she could do - so typical of a lot of women I know. To me, she was the everyday woman, trying to get what she wanted in life and fairly. Tristian, the good-looking suitor, he'd been stung, didn't trust and was very quick not to believe Lulu and what had happened to her. I love that things didn't run smoothly, both battling very real problems and then it all coming together at the end. Talking of which, the spice! The spice that was there, well let's just say, good thing I had headphones on when listening to the audiobook - jeez! A bit explicit but very tantalising and did I say spicy?
I really enjoyed this one, I listened to it in practically one sitting as the audiobook was a little under 5 hours. A good way to beat the Monday blues for sure! I miss Lulu already!

With Stranger Things feel of the basement, on the hunt for these cruel and brutal Redcaps! The cover means so much more when you finish the book. The lack of relief at the end of the book just added to the chills. My eyes were as large as saucers at some points in the book. The description was visceral. I could clearly picture what happened to this gang, and I didn't want to! Believe me!
The novella mainly covers one evening. An evening where a lot of blood has been shed, and I mean a LOT. I would love to know what happens next and I do hope there is a follow-up!!!
This was a welcome distraction from my sad news last week and I devoured it in one sitting. I mean how could you not, and those graphics at the beginning of each chapter - eek!!
I have read everything that Mr Jones has published, and I think that will forever be the case. He knows how to draw you in straight away and throws everything at you. So much fun, so much blood, it leaves you wanting more...more
I have read a few books lately where the initial cue meet for the two characters were enemies-to-lovers and some have felt forced. But these two, Max I have read a few books lately where the initial cue meet for the two characters were enemies-to-lovers and some have felt forced. But these two, Max and Stella, everything worked. Miscommunication and silence led them to where they are now. On a love island, not like the TV show *shudder* but a paradise. From the second they meet up, you can feel the sexual tension, the sizzle despite their dislike for each other. But this book had a different feel to it, one I adored. Both are down-to-earth, flawed and just so loveable. They are people you know, love and respect. They could even be you, with their behaviour. None of this book felt forced, faked or unbelievable.
But one thing I have to comment on is that phone call at the end!!! Please tell me there will be more! I mean it seems crazy to include it. I kept looking at the timer on the audiobook, and it had 2 minutes left, there was no time for a resolution and now it's floating in the ether - WHAT CAN THIS MEAN!?!
I blitzed this audiobook in one day, yes that's right one day! I forgot that I was listening sometimes, more like I was watching, or a part of it....well maybe not for all the scenes - damn that sizzle! I have never read anything by Olivia before but Blimey, she knows just what you want without you even knowing you want or need it - I LOVED IT!! give me more!!!!
One of my favourite romance books this year! ...more

In my opinion, both were as bad as each other. Carrie, lived in the past, with her hurt and understandably so! She didn't know the entire story as Luke never told her. Then when their paths crossed, boy was it explosive! With a hurricane also threatening, you knew how this story was going to play out, with one small minor twist, which I quite enjoyed.
I blitzed this on audio but I just didn't enjoy the narrators (sorry), I could hear every breath that Craig took and at first, it was off-putting but when I sped up the speed of the book, I didn't notice it. Aside from that it was another book by Ms Carter which I enjoyed.
It was the perfect book for every woman who has been scorned, never got closure but got a chance for a second chance. I mean the setting in the story most definitely helped, I do want Carrie's job!!! I mean a private island in the Caribbean - yes please there is no way you couldn't fall in love! I did love Henry's little interjections, they made me chuckle. And despite the hatred Luke and Carrie had for each other, ignoring their sizzle, I loved the banter. I have to say, I would love a Joe in my life! ...more

I didn't get the chance to devour this book and I tell you, I wanted to. Each time I got a chance to read, I was hooked, I didn't want to stop. It was just beyond epic and most definitely one of my top books I have read this year!!
I had a feeling on one twist that was revealed, but it was still such a shock! The way the book was laid out flitting between all the different timelines was such a brilliant effect. It kept you on your toes as you are racing to find out what happened before and after the fire and a new strand, before and after the storm. Each storyline was addictive and every word, sentence, paragraph, page kept you entertained and on your toes. I needed to know what was happened. What happened to Carole?
I can the author has a series, and if it's anything like The Aftermath I need to read them now. His characters are flawed, confrontational and loveable. You care about them and you feel the emotions. I could even forgive the actions of some people, not that I agree with what they did, but I get it. I would love a follow up to this one, just so I know the characters are ok at the end.
Paul knows how to write the characters, and he hid so much so well. As I mentioned, I had a feeling on one twist, but there was a couple of things that began to fall into place and then when you have the final review, despite the inklings I still feel like I had the rug pulled out from under me. His characters hid their intentions so well. Just awesome!!...more

I adored Wren and Finn's plight in this world against the Nox and the Aurum. I am going to be honest here and say, I think I have done the book a disservice. I bought the audiobook, as I can read quicker this way. But I wished I read them. I loved the narrator and I loved the book, but I think I missed the connection if I had read it. I think I will need to find time to re-read it - and what a great excuse! Mainly because I am gutted it's over already! I wanted more and still do!
What a change these characters have gone through! It was the beginning that got me, I dove straight into this after finishing Book 2 and I was eager to see how Finn and Wren were doing at court. Man, it was dark.!! I couldn't believe what was going on, I thought the narrator was making things up. Then my mind was blown! I had suspected something was coming, and I thought it might be what it was, but the relief I felt when it was!! Cryptic I know! But thank god, that is all I can say!
Second Sky has been banging out some epic romantasy books, and this is one of my top ones! I have some of the older books by Jessica on Kindle and after reading these, I can hear my Kindle whispering to me....or is it the nox?
I love the world-building from this series, I could see the courts, the forest, especially with Finn tied up at the end *wink wink*, everything was so visual and clear in my mind.
I have to end my review with three words...Elodie and Roland *sigh*...more

I mean seriously!! This book was dark, sinister, shocking and totally totally heartbreaking!!! I spent alternate chapters crying, and my heart just broke. This must have been one heck of a book to try and write. I don't even know if I can write anything coherent as I am just sitting here stunned at what I have just read. I bought the audiobook because I just love the narrator, and god it broke me.
You have the Gina storyline, Nate's sideline - where I was just crying, Steve's storyline - man I broke, Madison's trying to solve a case. The ending was explosive, and I need Book 9. I know there will be so much fallout on its way. The big reveal SHOCKED ME SO MUCH! I had to skip back in the audiobook and then read it on the Kindle, as I couldn't believe what I was hearing and then reading!!!!!! I couldn't believe how much the rug had been pulled away from me. I was gasping! I mean there is so much more that happens - which definitely caused tears, it was just senseless. Not sure a book will be able to top this one for a while.
I have to say, this one will stick with me for a while, and I have to say it's possibly the best one in the series. Wendy has written such a hard-hitting book, that blows your mind, and leaves you shocked at the end. I still can't believe it!! ...more

And that ending with Finnan - It filled me with so much dread. The evil is rising and Wren is in its sights. But the one thing I wondered at the end, was who was manipulating who!
There are some shocks, especially with one of Wren's 'maids' - shocking! There are still so many unanswered questions; thankfully, I can jump into the next book immediately! I can't wait and I can't wait to go to College of Winter!
I loved seeing more about Finn and his family, and I did like Hestia. So much more foreboding and when you meet the DAD!! oh, my days!
The writing is captivating, and it has you hooked. As soon as I started the book I knew that I would be absorbed into every word of this tale and it had me going all over the place with my emotions!!! ...more

Yes, we have a missing girl but that didn't seem to be the main focal point, even the deaths of the others didn't take the main focal point. For me, we focus on a potential new character to the fold, and to say it looks like it's a green light, I did cheer! I worried I would be lulled into a false sense of security, that maybe, just maybe, this new character wouldn't be a good one. But phew. It's ok. I was ok, and I was happy!
When we weren't focusing on the newbie, it was Jenna, Dave, and even Emily and Rio. This book felt different, it felt more of a filler to start something rather than a normal intense thriller. Not that it's a bad thing at all, as it gave time for other characters to shine, to be at the forefront, but there was a different feel. A huge lull before the storm, before the birth of Jenna and Dave's baby, and before Wolfe settles down. Before so many new things!
I do love this series, I have been here since the beginning and everyone has come so far. But Ms Hood, her writing has got so much stronger, she has developed this small town into a serial killer central, but she has created her own team of Super-Heroes who fight the bad guys, save the day and get a HEA most of the time. I love it! As Ms Hood does with her characters and scene setting, drawing you into this false sense of security, it does make me worried for what might happen in the next book, I really am worried there is a HUGE storm a-coming especially after reading the blurb! ...more

I also made the mistake of listening to this on audio....and then the mini one walked past at the completely wrong moment!! I loved this book, haven't read the other 2 books, need to. They are all self-contained with characters in and out from other books and all it has done is make me want to go back and read the other 2.
My first intro to Ms Hudson and it was great! I love this type of book, but the fact that the first meeting between the main two didn't go so well was just added extra! Watching them then having to live together in a condo near NASA, was brilliant. You can always tell where these books are going to go, but for me, I don't mind that, because it's the journey we go on and what I become invested in. Felix (awesome name too) was just the best guy. Ok, so obviously some moments he spoke before he thought, but I found him wholesome with so much spice. He was a gentleman and caring and I loved that despite what had happened to him with his ex, he didn't let it tarnish the next relationship.
I really enjoyed this sizzle and spice and look forward to many more!!! ...more

I mean you just have to go with the plot, it is crazy at times but it’s my favourite kind of crazy!! It was done fabulously and wow what a rotten character one of them was. Jeez, talk about chilling me to the bone!!! Shudder!
I do love how your support for characters switches and waivers at times. You never quite know how it is ultimately going to play out but that end game was a cinch!!
Jane is a new to me author, but I will be definitely looking out for more books bu her. She sucked me in from the start, with the creepy crows, the over-the-top nicety of Anna, and the reserved Penny. Just everything. All worked for me!
