It took me roughly 10 books to find one I can finish but not compute so well since I don't know what the heck is (Knoting) or (mates in the form of wolves running together in full moon) or (witches only getting pregnant with daughters)
However this book tried to be simple and pretty much easy and I could grasp most of the fantasy elements. Also the banter between MCs and the plot were enjoyable.
Not saying, that I like reading "western fantasy romance" now. But I hate it less.

Fuck, I was so close to liking it despite being low rated. However, I suspect my reasons to giving up on this is different to the general public. A quiFuck, I was so close to liking it despite being low rated. However, I suspect my reasons to giving up on this is different to the general public. A quick premise and then we'll delve into my major objections. So, Sarah is a smart blond tiny woman who became the assistant to an oil tycoon. Within the first hour of her employment, she heard the boss telling the HR manager to fire her because she's young and he's sick of young Bembos flocking towards him and not acting professional around him.
However Sarah stood up to him and she proved time and time again that she's respectful and excellent in her job. However they both secretly lusted for each other.
The long list of objections: 1/The author talked before the beginning of the story about how awful is for a woman to tell her boss that she's pregnant and needs a leave. My question for her: ARE YOU OKAY?!
2/The FMC gets hard nipples only from shaking the MMC's hands. Question: Is he a glacier?
3/His black pupils are like oil. He's an oil tycoon. He loves smelling oil in his free time. Question: Is he OKAY?
4/Neveeeeeeeer write an Arab man as your MMC if you don't know a fucking thing about Arab culture. The name doesn't exist in Arabic: What's the name Elan???? Not all Arab men are the product of a loveless marriage of convenience in which the mother dies from the brutality of her husband. In fact that's a western cliché portraying Arab couples as savages with zero emotional intelligence.
5/The hero says: I left my country and the traditions that don't have a place in modern world. Another fucking demeaning cliché. But even if this man was super duper westernized: do you mean you want to leave the culture that promotes a two parents household, marriage, kids and compassion between wives and husbands? Sure man! But then, why you begged the FMC to marry you when she became pregnant and you instantly imagined a bright household and other future children with her?
6/There is another stigma enforced by some western authors: they want to believe that Arab men looooooooooooove dainty pale blonds who are educated and liberated and all that jazz. And I'm not going to speak for Arab man since I'm not one (how about you try that author?) But I'm saying: there is nothing more unattractive than a whiny bitch who wants to keep the baby but works on dangerous oil sites and fainting so often!!!...more

Ava has some trouble having sex. She's not frigid. She feels sexual attraction and can get turned on. However she has a severe case of anxiety and a poor self image. Whenever a man touches her, she feels trapped, nauseous and extremely numb.
Since she never had a traumatic experience with any sort of sexual abuse, she wants so badly to get better and hopes to enjoy sex one day. Her therapist referred her to Dr. Chase Hudson: a psychologist/ sexologist and a sex surrogate.
In a nutshell: his job is to make her feel gradually comfortable with sex. 10 sessions: and every session deals with an advanced layer of intimacy: From kissing to sex.
However: feelings got mixed up from both parties and I don't want to spoil anything further. It's just so romantic and all the smut is balanced and meaningful. The MMC was so sweet and careful with her fragile heart.
BUT, I couldn't get past his job. I don't believe that's an ethical job even though it apparently exists in USA. I would have preferred him being some sort of male escort that she rented to explore her sexuality. Plus, the author never talked about them being exclusive during the sessions. I mean, she never said that Chase is having other female patients and potentially doing the same sexy things with them. But that fact was pure and simple. He did not take one patient at a time and the fact that he had other clients kept nagging on my mind even though there is no other women drama in the book....more

Especially if your boss agrees to your charade and ask you in return to be his bitch for the next 3 months. Especially if you think that you are at risk to fall badly in love with your enigmatic boss!
Needless to say that the chemistry/ the smut/ the banter (especially the banter) are top-notch. However the book deals in great part with the MMC being hurt because his unborn daughter died with her mother in a car accident. Whereas the FMC is a single mother to a 4 years old daughter and she kept her secret from MMC (for various reasons)
I tried to get the logic behind the MCs choices concerning Rory the FMC's daughter. However I didn't feel okay with some. Also, FMC struck me to be a bit of an absent mother with the hard way she works and then spends the night in the MMC's bed letting her best friend care for her daughter. I'm not saying that the FMC didn't quite love Rory. However that was a loophole the author forgot about.

All the ingredients exist but without flavor. In this bland romance: MMC is of course a rich handsome CEO who has a strict non fraternization rule in the company.
FMC is a HR manager who is anal about her job (quite a pain in the ass with her trying to create the "perfect" environment for employees)
FMC is sexually frustrated with how handsome the MMC is. She writes for a year erotica about him. Not an erotic book mind you. But installments of weird stories with these titles (The slutty bartender/ The slutty house manager/ The slutty masseuse)
In every story the plot is: her boss fucking women in every surface available. (she calls that: managing her sexual frustration/ I call it a red flag indicating a serious unhealthy obsession)
I never heard in the history of company culture (real or fictional) of the CEO meeting with HR manger several times a week meeting wise. That simply does not happen! And if your fucking boss's boss vetoes your presentation, you don't get riled up and engage in a fiery argument until the CEO relents to your pure wisdom.
Last: MMC knew about the blog of erotica in the most improbable way. He figured that she was the culprit afterwards in also a stupid way. They had sex. She freaked out... the conflict is resolved in the last 3 sentences of the book....more

MMC has one serious relationship in his A grumpy sexy billionaire who growls at FMC "Don't call me Daddy ever again" but secretly loves it? Sign me up!
MMC has one serious relationship in his early twenties with a woman who pretended to like his kinks. Later on she shamed him while breaking up with him saying that he's a pervert for liking women calling him daddy.
MMC was traumatized by that experience. He focused only on work and maintained a long streak of celibacy. Until the FMC came barging into his life. And he needed her to be his fake-fiancée so his dad sees he can have a work-life balance and promotes him to CEO.
The FMC likes pushing the MMC buttons and loves behaving as a Brat, which opened her eyes on her wanting to be in a sexual power play of Dominant Daddy and a Brat submissive.
The dynamic is good. Both MCs are respectful despite their teasing and edging. This novel could've been a lot more shorter. No need for all that smut or all the those side characters that were not treated in depth even though they're going to have their own books. Also that book doesn't get more fictional than this. Sappy cheesy happy ending and whatnot.

Praying that the author gets recognition and help to improve her craft.
The main Idea: FMC used to get bullied through out high school by the MMC (All in the prologue). Between some scenes of bullying (that were not dark or extreme), there was sexual tension and sexy times.
However both MCs went different ways in life. They reconnected as adults. FMC is a psychiatrist who only work with drug addicts. MMC works in the DEA but got hocked on marijuana (to num his senses and make him over all pleasant) so he was sent to FMC for rehab. He instantly wanted her to like him and there was no more bullying only teasing.
What I liked: MCs are Black and they have the slang to show for it (because the black author knows what she's doing) The chemistry is on top. The pranks the FMC pulled on the MMC (as a revenge for old times) were so hilarious. A set-up for 2 other couples (with the themes of enemies to lovers/bullying too)
What I didn't like: The back story of the MCs families. Wasn't interested in that because it did not seem that logical. Why does this book end on a cliffhanger? A second book is not necessary in my opinion!
PS: I read some reviews on the sequel because I was on the fence about the necessity of a second book. Apparently, the author shifted the perspective completely. MMC as a paranormal streak: he's a warrior from ancient civilization. FMC as a fantasy element: descendant of witches. Bunch of shapeshifters are thrown in the mix+ drug lords who enslave the heroine for sometimes before the hero slays them like vampires!!!!
This is the second fucking time it happened to me in a span of a month. Reading a completely normal romance with normal plot before it turns out to be a fucking paranormal chaos!...more

So FMC is a 21 orphan who wants family and kids. She's obsessively in love with her girl friend's dad.
MMC is a mafia kingpin and he writes the draft of this advertisement on his computer: "I want a housewife who agrees to a marriage of convenience. She's up to have multiple kids. Laughs at my jokes. Partake in my social events. 5.4ft+brown hair+ blue eyes. NO LOVE" He pretty much described the FMC.
When she happens to read the draft she tells him she's up to it. She thinks he's just lonely and up for a marriage of convenience without love.
He thinks that she wants the financial security and could never love an old man like him. He actually wrote the clause of (no love) in the draft thinking if he went with publishing the advertisement women shouldn't expect his love since his heart is forever secretly held by the FMC (Yeah, swooooon)
What bothered me to no end is him calling her REPEATEDLY a free use wife. Apparently the term means: he holds the power to initiate sex, she's just a sex toy, and he could have sex with her anytime and anywhere even without her consent. (To me: she needs to be called a cum bucket)!
The second thing: for quite some time she kept calling him Mr. Blackstone long after being married and intimate. That repulsed me cuz it painted the MMC in the lights of a perverted old man.

It you're interested go ahead, if you want to continue reading this: then it's going to be about my personal experience on how I got disinterested from this.
First of all, the writing style is perfect. It was so engaging and the story flow is good. There were some repetitions (minor sentences that reflect the same emotional state), but no biggy.
The plot intrigued me so much and it pains me that it did not go the direction I had in mind. In fact, my issues with the novel revolve around the creative choices of the author not the quality of her product. (Again: I can see a lot of people liking the book)
1944: Tess is a 23 year old Italian good catholic girl. She's devoted to her church, kind to everyone that's her motive behind studying hard to become a nurse. She' s attached to her mother who raised her on her own after her father's untimely death when she was 4. Tess has always been in love with Vincent the boy next door who's going to be a doctor. Vincent loves her back, in fact he adores her. They got engaged and have less than a year to get married. They never had sex since they both believe it's religiously prohibited.
While Tessa is stuck studying for her nurse diploma, Vincent got a job in another state to fight polio. Tess agreed to the distance relationship because Vincent promised to be away for 2 weeks. But 2 weeks turned into 2 months and then another 2 and then another 2.
During that time Tess became so insecure and so whiny. She kept picturing Vincent cheating on her. However that poor man was too innocent to even look at another woman. He was simply working too hard and the war was going on so he couldn't use the phone much and everything was rationed.
Tess had a wild female friend that didn't think of anything as a "sin" and they went together in a trip to Washington where they spent the night in a pensione only with 2 other single men. While her friend flirted with the loud man, Tess was attracted to Henry the quite one. She thought of him as a handsome man but with sad eyes.
They ate dinner and barely exchanged any meaningful words. But he knew she was engaged. She never took off her ring and she talked about Vincent.
She drank too much and he was only buzzed. She was stumbling in the stairs so he took her to her room and instantly his lips were on hers. She told him "I can't". He said "I know. I'm sorry" Then he kissed her again. She was so drunk that she kept picturing funny stuff in pink and whatnot. She felt her hymen break and she wanted to escape pain by lying still and the whole ordeal was numb and cold.
With little sentiment, Henry got up, her stocking were between her legs, she had her upper clothes too, the only naked thing was her vagina where blood was pouring and he told her "you should've told me you are a virgin" And then he went away and she never saw him again. (She didn't want to see him too)
When she discovered she was pregnant, her whole life came crashing down. She knew that Vincent was never going to forgive her (and rightly so) because Tess was so stupid that she told her friend "no. Henry did not rape me. I wish I could've blamed him"
After considering abortion and then getting dramatically chicken-shit at the operation table, she decided to search for Henry. She only wanted money (substantial amount in order to live years as a single mother before she considers working as a nurse)
Henry was as unsentimental as always. He was almost mechanical but kind enough to promise her a settlement. Then, out of the blue he proposes marriage claiming that he doesn't want his child to be fatherless.
Tess comes back home to break the news to her mother who calls her a "tramp and a whore". Then the mother dies from a heart-attack smashing her head on the coffee table (so much drama! But the mother is Italian: those people tend to exaggerate!!!)
Anyway, Vincent was the one to call Tess to tell her about the death and all he talked about was: "honey, your mother is dead. But all the trains are full. They are moving military troops. I don't have gas coupons any more. I don't know if I'm gonna be there. I love you, bye"
Look: I know he's innocent but if the man I LOVE throws a bunch of excuses even valid ones as to why he wouldn't be there, I 'll be livid. I mean: don't come, fine if you can't but don't burden me with your excuses at that exact moment!
After her mother's funeral she goes back to Henry (leaving Vincent a weird goodbye letter within the lines of: It's not you, it's me. she did not tell him about the baby)
She and Henry have this gunshot wedding with no family or friends in the vicinity. Tess knows that Henry is like royalty in his small-town in North Carolina. Apparently he's a catch with rich furniture business and every mama wanted to nail him down for her daughter.
She also knows that Henry's mom and sister don't approve of the marriage. That's why Henry SUGGESTED GOING TO A HOTEL before facing the music at home. At this point: Tess wanted the marriage to work. She wanted to love Henry in order to build a happy family for her baby. So at the wedding night she wore s.th sexy and waited for a real "sex" experience while they are both sober.
Henry saw her in a negligée and told her: "do you read books before bed?" she said "Yes" and he said "Grab your book then" They read separately for 30 min then he asked if she's ready for sleep. Turned off the lights and turned his back on her.
Tomorrow, Tess was insecure trying to guess why Henry is being mysterious and giving her half smiles and those damn sad eyes. He then left for a while leaving her to know his mother and sister.
The sister was a turd who said "Why they're having a war when it's my time to come out as a debutante and meet my beau" The mother was a snake wearing pearls who told Tess "You're gonna change your faith from being a catholic to a Baptist" Apparently, Catholics believed in "Hocus-pocus" accordingly to Henry who later told his wife that his mother is right and Tess should learn how to be a lady from her.
He also told her not to work ever cuz he's going to meet her financial needs. He also told her not to worry about raising the kid when it's born cuz it's definitely going to have a nanny. Tess needs only to learn how to play into the southern society. In other words: sois belle et tais-toi!
Tess never fights any of this. she misses the catholic church, her Vincent, her former style in clothes etcetera but never fights or voices her protests. She was convinced that being married to Henry was her best life out-come.
Within those events, there is a social depiction (whished that it was a commentary) about the southern society and black people and segregation and maids and rich white blond gold digging white ladies. Anyway: it became so obvious that Henry was never getting interesting flavors as a character let alone a redemption to build up a romantic connection. Tess was soon trapped in a loveless marriage with a man who does not communicate and he hid a lot of secrets.+ Another tragedy happened (cuz why not?): Tess drove a car with Henry's sister and they had an accident falling in the lake. The sister died and Tess lost the baby. (Every body blamed Tess)
From this point on: this is what happened according to numerous reviews. (cuz I wanted to know what happened but I didn't want to continue) (also the long ass paragraphs I've written up above are 120pages of what happened compared to 430 total pages!!!)
Apparently: Tess defied her husband and mother in law when Polio broke into the community and worked as a nurse. Apparently she reconnected with Vincent in the hospital and she never stopped loving him.
Apparently Henry's big secret was that he has a child with a woman that he loves and can never be with since she's black. Apparently, he loved her but never was faithful to her since he slept with Tess in that rapy one night stand and during the marriage in fits of "mistakes".
Apparently, he wanted to set Tess free in order to marry Vincent so he allowed her to divorce him on the basis of adultery. Adultery not because he was devoted to the black woman. Noooo, because he planned to woo the District attorney gold digging blond girl. Sleep with her, getting divorced by Tess, then marrying the blond and continuing to live in secret with the black. (When god was distributing logic upon human beings: Henry was absent)
Apparently, he came with a more asinine plan. He faked his death and ran into the sunset with his love.
I have a lot to talk about! But the general consensus over the book was "Write a review when you go back to normal".
So here I'm after a long meal and I have a lot to talk about! But the general consensus over the book was "Write a review when you go back to normal".
So here I'm after a long meal and an equally long shower dissecting how flabbergasted I was and disappointed in one of my "babies authors". Yes, I've adopted Gigi Styx along with her brand of "dark" and "crazy". She made her debut last year and I discovered her right away and loved her complicated stories.
But this one left me empty. Enough about my personal feelings and let's get into the book. At first, I loved how the story kicked right away. As if there is no beginning, you're in the middle of action and the events keep getting more and more intense.
FMC: Amy is a delusional mentally ill patient. She gets severe hallucinations of objects being placed and then disappearing and reappearing. Much worse, she hallucinates about the people she killed. But she kills in self defense. Her first is a teacher who raped her when she was 13. The second is a man who broke into her house to violate her because he doesn't approve of her social media content.
Her social media content is quite interesting. Amy is the goth girl with snakes intricated in her black corset and a crucifix hanging between her breasts. She's also the girlfriend of a murderer.
A murderer who is in death row. And she established a whole fan-base for him. She's in the process to write a book about their relationship too.
Which brings us to Xero: MMC. He's been killing since 10 years old I guess. He was seasoned to be a ruthless assassin and he got caught by the police holding the heart of his stepmother so he's going to get the death penalty.
Xero, received plenty female letters while in prison. His mugshot got viral and all women who fantasize about "Ted Bundy" I guess sent him letters. But he only responded to Amy's: a) because she's seen his inner darkness. b) because she confessed to being a killer too c)because she sent the letter with her pussy smell!!!
I have a huge doubt about the possibility of exchanging those letters because the police is supposed to monitor every thing especially the gifts of death row prisoners. Nevertheless, Amy and Xero built up a strong connection reascending into love.
In the day Xero is supposed to fry on an electric chair, he asked Amy to be his wife and to be his in this life and beyond. That will permit them a conjugal visit in order to touch each other for the first time before it's too late.
But Amy never showed up (she had a lame excuse that never convinced me) and Xero was electrocuted until fire emerged from his brain.
Here's when the haunting of Amy begins. Every night there is a ghost that comes to her in the cloth of a grim-reaper. He would practice somnophilia on her. (Every night! who gets turned on by that?)
He would humiliate and degrade her. Put her in collars in order to walk her like a dog.
Put a noose around her neck and lift her into the ceiling and order her to slap her breasts.
Drugging her and tampering with her pshych medications. Suck her fingers and toes while she's asleep. Leaving her the tongues/ fingers/ testicles of every man he got jealous of.
Cuming in her water bottles. (Fuck you Xero, respect the secret of life! I gagged when she described her water as salty)
Impaling her on a metal rod covered by a huge dildo and Force her to watch two men raping each other. (I cant' get the scene out of my head! it was that traumatizing!!!)
You may ask me: was there reasons behind each incident? The answer is no!!! Every chapter there is a new level of unhinged unlocked with no context. It's like the author picked up a manual of BDSM and starting writing a chapter per kink.
Because outside of that haunting nothing progresses in the story. Xero's "ghost" blames Amy for forsaking him. But he protects her from danger. She hates him for terrorizing her and yet she loves him.
Between all that nonsensical love-hate: basically people they know are being murdered (by one of them or some dark organization that wants to frame them) and the police takes resident on the street of FMC and yet no one sees her running into the streets/woods and cemetery to have primal kink sex with Xero who turns out not to be ghost.
He's like god knowing every thing happening in private to Amy but he survived the chair somehow. He's very much a human. Albeit a vengeful one.
Here's when I got fed up and nothing made scene to me anymore. I went back to the 3pages trigger warnings. There are a lot of words that ended with PHILIA that I did not want to discover and counting down all the kinks or monstrous things that I already read, I had so much to come so I wasn't up to continue.
Since it's a 540 pages book, I went to the end to see who's the next couple might be. Heals! it's about Xero and Amy again. It's a fucking duet that ends on a cliff-hanger when Amy sets Xero's body on fire (bet you he's not going to die) and she discovers that maybe she has a sister/ clone/ doppelganger maybe?!!
Anyway, I hope Gigi gets her shit together as soon as possible cuz this book hadn't been cute :*...more

Big brother (47), little sister (25) are cold towards each other and they barely stand one another. Their rich ass great uncle dies and they're both entitled to the huge inheritance. Hence... the only logical thing to happen is for their ancestor to manifest as a ghost and tell them "You should consummate your relationship in order to inherit"
Apparently, from generation to another brothers and sisters used to have sex to maintain the legacy (If that's not satanical Hollywood rituals, I don't know what is)
The funny thing, is that the FMC was like "maybe we shouldn't have intercourse" They would try several things (before sex) and the ghost tells them: no, no, no.

Well, FMC is a 31 year old virgin! The horror, you know. She thinks of herself as this plain librarian (she really is a librarian) who has an unattractive haircut (with military bangs?? don't know what that is) and decent flowery clothes (don't know why it's ugly)
Anyway, she decided to have sex for the first time celebrating her 31 birthday so she had a complete make-over, went to the most popular club in town.
Sadly, she was awkward, did not dance or enjoy herself. Only one sleazy man approached her and she contemplated going home with him even though he was so creepy. But she wanted desperately to experience sex and she legitimately believed that she's not a catch.
The owner of the nightclub (MMC) usually kept an eye on that creepy man whenever he went to his club. He noticed how tipsy and uncomfortable the FMC was. So he came to the rescue and offered to take her home.
FMC was instantly taken with the hero and suggested going to his place. One thing led to another and they spent an unforgettable night. They were both sober, sexy and gentle when they've done it.
Come morning, FMC ran away thinking that one night was a fluke and that MMC wouldn't like the real her. Here's when the shitty developments began: FMC thinks that MMC wants her always to be chick with daring dark clothes. Every time she would meet with him (after he obsessively tracked her down), she would spend tons of money over fashionable clothes. At the same time she beats herself over it saying that's not the real her. But she wants to hold onto the MMC until he discovers the "geek" or "nerd" that she is when she wears flowery long dresses.
The MMC kept saying weird things too like: "Why did you pick me to be your first one?" "A girl like you must have lost it to the football captain in high school" "My ex-wife was a gold digger. Did you sleep with me to get a car or jewelry" (that question was not in a fight context. They were just talking in a restaurant to get to know each other!!!!) "I've slept around that I don't even know my body count" "I've seen a lot of hot girls so that's how I know that you are hotter in comparison".

Wes and Jocelyn's story would've ended beautifully and so reasonably within the first book. Every body got a redemption, things are looking hopeful for MCs, they learned the meaning of friendship/family and love.
Why would you insert a weird plot about a crazy man who plays GOD and his son who's an actual superhero who's both supernatural intellectually (with weird visions) and physically (his whole body is bulletproof and pain proof in general)
I don't know what I read?!! And I'm sad but I'm willing to remember only the good parts about book one. That's all!...more
First of all this novel has the BEST prologue ever written.
Second, Wes, baby, please come and have my babies. The sShocked! But in a really good way!
First of all this novel has the BEST prologue ever written.
Second, Wes, baby, please come and have my babies. The sweet and innocent brand of love he has for Jocelyne is incredible.
Third, this novel is about an FMC that is lost. We're so used to MMCs being alpha and self-destructive and then sweet innocent fmcs saying "BUT I CAN FIX HIM" Well, this novel shows you that when women loose track of what's right and what's good for them, they don't need tough love, they need gentle love. and Wes delivered ^_^
Finally, I'm a bitch for not knowing this is a duet and the suspicion about what's wrong or what's special about a certain character will keep me sleepless until my huger is satiated.
Fair warning: this review will hold a 5 stars but I swear to God if the next book has an unsatisfying finale to my Wes and Jocelyne's story I will throw hands! Not really I would just vent in my next review and punish the duet with a lesser rating (just threatening an already published book with that) That's how excited this story made me!...more

You don't want to read about a heroine who has 0 self-esteem that she needs to lie every other page! Shocker really!!!
It's a 1 star review so I won't waste mt breath as to why this book enraged me. I debated giving it 2 stars because of the beautiful cover and the MCs being native Americans written by a native American. But if the author did not give her characters justice, why should I?...more
