You have a weak FMC who becomes strong during the series, the archetypical MMCs (always at least 1 a-hole, one goody-two-shoes, one to balance them all, and sometimes more) who gradually fall for the FMC. You also have a decent, fast-paced plot, where the MCs end up saving the world.
It's basically the same thing here, and not in a bad way.
It's a fun RH, cliche, yes, but still good. I liked the plot and the writing style. Yes, it's the kind of series you forget pretty fast, but hey, just because you eat the same pizza more than once it doesn't mean it's not good. So this is a good pizza-book.

At the beginning of the series, I dubbed these books as my 'guilty little pleasure'. Alas, the love bubble popped and I'm starting to slowly get annoyed by the lack of character complexity, the lack of plot, the no world-builder polity, and the MC & co slowly becoming stupider and stupider.
Still, I'm curious to see what will happen next. The books are short enough to be read fast (especially if you skip particular parts where everything just repeats itself).
Oh, another thing that's beginning to be annoying: the repetition!
But still, I'm not ready to leave these characters behind yet. And I'm still curious about the war they keep talking about and the world. Who knows, maybe in book 100, we'll actually get more info about what's happening, right? ...more

Well, the chick was annoying and acting like a teenager (even though she's suppose to be a badass enforcer). Yes, she's young, but well... things don't add up in her personality. I mean, you're either young and act like it, or you're not. Having a bit of both worlds doesn't really work when building up an MC in a series.
On the other hand, the plot was... ok, maybe not good, not it was readable. And the book was short enough and easy enough to read that I figure, why not see the second book as well. I don't have high hopes, but eh. Worth a try....more

The issue, when you have 40% of the book filled with sex scenes, is that it gets damn boring. I mean, in 300 pages, 100 pages only of really detailed descriptions... That's a bit much for me. I ended up skipping a lot of pages in the last 3 books.
Still, the series was fun and worth a read. I really enjoyed the author, style, plot, characters....more

Overall, the characters were annoying at times and idiots at others, and I can't say that I liked them too much. The plot was fun, yes, but it had some gaps. The world-builder wasn't great, although it was interesting.
So, the question is, why did I like this series, right? Well, I have no idea. Maybe it was the writing style, or the plot, the fast-paced action, maybe it's because I just love circus books (I really do!), or maybe just because I was in a weird funk. I don't know.

It was fast-paced and a really good Space Opera, if you're into this type of thing. If you're not, and you just wanna branch out a bit and try this genre, then there are other, better SF books out there.

Overall review of the entire series (no spoilers): Well, this was the perfect series for me to relax and enjoy a good day. It had the necessary plot to keep me engaged and want to go on to the next book (and the next, and the next).
The characters were enjoyable, they made the experience worthwhile. True, they weren't too complex, and there was nothing too deep, but I really enjoyed and liked them. It was exactly what I needed at the time.
So, if you're looking for a long series, something to keep you engaged, with a lot of action and really cool characters, this series is definitely worth a try!...more

Things stopped making sense: the plot leaves a lot of holes and the characters are acting like idiots most of the times. Even the writing style got a lot worse. I skimmed almost all the book, just waiting for something good to happen. Spoiler: it didn't.
Still, it was a pretty good series (yes, writing the review for the whole series). I had fun, it kept me curious, and I liked the side characters. Definitely worth a read, if you're looking for a light, easy, Saturday relaxation. ...more
