Roman is everything you would expect out of a ruthless mafia man, but when it comes to Liza he is a fierce protector, her strength (even when he is not next to her), and everything else you could imagine him to be.
Liza is one of the strongest FMC that I have read about. She is willing to sacrifice her own life and happiness for her family. Lucky for her, she has people in her life that know what she needs more than she does and takes the reigns to steer her in the right direction.
Their chemistry is what kept me on the edge! I loved their story and cannot wait to explore more....more
Wow! Just wow! I loved Emma in the first two books ~ she was the one I related to most, and is sassy, independent, and confident! I love that her storWow! Just wow! She has to be my favorite FMC written by Kat! I found her story to be the most relatable, because isn't everyone trying to figure out who they are and how to love themselves in the best way possible?
Preston, Preston, Preston... this man is extremely swoon worthy. I fell for him the first night he and Emma met. Can this man do no wrong? Patient, tattooed, muscular, and knows exactly what he wants and says things like "I know I suck at words, but no one will ever love you like it do."
Preston's Gram steels the show so many times! It made me miss my own Gram, who I lost over twenty years ago, but still remember how kind and patient she was.
This book has made its home on my favorites list! I'll need to get a hard copy to go into my collection of signed books, to go with the first two in the series.

I absolutely love the chemistry between her main characters. I love a story about an unhinged man, who finds his match, even if it's in an unconventional way. Their story is dark and intense in a good way. I've seen people compare this story to Fifty Shades of Grey, but I enjoyed The Smell of Fear so much more! I also love when authors write from DOV, because it gives me a chance to get into each of their minds and feel what they're feeling.
My absolute favorite line from this book: "You're too perfect, Silver. I need to destroy you each time." I think it describes exactly what you're getting when you read Gwynn and Fox's story. I cannot wait to indulge in the next book in this series.

I've been waiting for a story on Shae since reading the Bryne Brothers series, and I'm 100% here for this! I devoured this book within hours. I couldnI've been waiting for a story on Shae since reading the Bryne Brothers series, and I'm 100% here for this! I devoured this book within hours. I couldn't seem to put it down. The connection between the two main characters is undeniable from their first meet.
I absolutely love a strong, bold and passionate FMC, and Shae provides everything and more. There's a quote from the book that stuck with me, "As a woman in a man's world, I am absolutely not allowed to show weakness because it will be weaponized and used against me without fail." I found it easy to relate to Shae because I'm a female working in a male dominate industry and seem to have to prove myself on a regular basis.
Renzo (also the name of my favorite local pizzeria) is tough, yet sensitive, and everything you expect of the head of the Italian Mafia. He's completely obsessed with Shae from the get-go. I absolutely love the support and comfort they find in one another while trying to survive the frozen Canadian tundra.
As always, the storyline was fabulous and fast paced. Everything connected the way I expected and included some of the original Bryne Brothers characters. I expected the struggle to survive, but I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns throughout the story. I cannot wait to read Sante's story next!...more
