Darkest Sin

Rate this book
Thrown in a cage and stripped of my dignity, I was auctioned to the highest bidder, but I never imagined that I’d end my night in the home of Killian DeLorenzo—head of the Romanian Mafia and the most powerful man in the country.

To know him is to fear him, and I just became his newest possession.

Pleasing him comes easily, but what I didn’t expect was the effect he would have on my heart.

This world is no place for a girl like me, and navigating it might just kill me quicker than he ever could. I know I should run, but his vile, wicked ways are a temptation no woman could possibly resist. So I must rise to the occasion—prove once and for all that I have what it takes . . .

Or die trying.

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'D𝐀R𝐊E𝐒T S𝐈N' Is a full length, dark mafia romance book by author Sheridan Anne. Spoken in 'dual perspectives..'

This was the one book I'd been highly anticipating, eagerly awaiting that notification that it was LIVE to it landing on my ipad, I've only just encountered this author, have read a few and can say she fast became a favourite of mine.

After finishing her shift at the dive bar where she works and walking home towards her apartment she's grabbed and thrown into a car, caged, predators circling her and the others caged just like her, scanning her surroundings she claps eyes on a man hidden in the shadows pure evil radiating off him, but nonetheless she's captivated by him, weither with fear or something else but he becomes her new owner.

Whisked away into a secluded mansion in the mountains, she knows nothing about this Romanian man that's purchased her, he refuses to give anything about himself away.

📚'Y𝐨u a𝐫e m𝐢n𝐞. Y𝐨u b𝐞l𝐨n𝐠 𝐭o m𝐞. T𝐡e𝐫e i𝐬 𝐧o𝐰h𝐞r𝐞 𝐲o𝐮 𝐜a𝐧 𝐫u𝐧 𝐨r h𝐢d𝐞. N𝐨 𝐞s𝐜a𝐩e. 𝐍o f𝐫e𝐞d𝐨m. 𝐍o r𝐞p𝐫i𝐞v𝐞. I𝐟 𝐲o𝐮 𝐟o𝐥l𝐨w m𝐲 𝐫u𝐥e𝐬, y𝐨u w𝐢l𝐥 𝐟i𝐧d l𝐢f𝐞 𝐰i𝐭h m𝐞 𝐪u𝐢t𝐞 𝐬a𝐭i𝐬f𝐚c𝐭o𝐫y, 𝐜o𝐦f𝐨r𝐭a𝐛l𝐞 𝐞v𝐞n. 𝐈f y𝐨u d𝐨 𝐧o𝐭, i𝐟 𝐲o𝐮 𝐫e𝐟u𝐬e m𝐞, y𝐨u w𝐢l𝐥 𝐬p𝐞n𝐝 𝐞v𝐞r𝐲 𝐰a𝐤i𝐧g h𝐨u𝐫 𝐰i𝐬h𝐢n𝐠 𝐟o𝐫 𝐝e𝐚t𝐡.'

Just know that he's not to be messed with.
Some may say he's heartless, but others within his household may differ.

This kept me captivated throughout, and needed, craved, wanted more, because holy crap I loved the shit out of these two characters, they were perfectly matched, fire and ice, together they were perfection.

As soon as I jumped into this I was pulled into the storyline straight away, it started off with a bang and didn’t let me out of its grasp until the end.

It’s dark, gritty and utterly addictive

This author veered away from what I normally expect from her and took a huge risk with this book and she nailed it%!

The only thing I hated about this book was that it had to end, I wanted to stay wrapped up in their world longer, I hope she writes something similar to this in the future! But no matter what she writes, I will read it! 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

“Those dark, piercing eyes seem to penetrate right through me, capturing my stare and holding it hostage. He's too far away to hold a conversation, but even with this distance, the silence between us is deafening.”

After Chiara is snatched off the street, after being kept in a cell for days, she is put up for sale during a live auction. A twisted underground world is revealed to her where men buy abducted women to do with as they please. On display in a cage, she fears who will purchase her, and what they will do to her.

“The electricity that sparks between us is like nothing I’ve ever felt before, and because of it, I am constantly seeking her out. I want to be around her and see the way her face lights up with happiness when she smiles, but mostly, I want to claim more than just her body.”

The man who ends up taking her to his home is enigmatic. Killian is a powerful and dangerous man, even though she should fear him, Chiara is enthralled with him. His world is a dangerous place, not just because of the man who ‘owns’ her but all that comes with his status and family.

“Somehow, my life has turned into some kind of twisted fairy tale, and all my darkest fantasies have become reality. Only, I don't get to take home the hero. I get the villain, and it's ten times more thrilling than having a white knight could ever be.”

I loved how the darkness in this book divided into two teams. Darkest Sin has a lot of evil men, who do unspeakable things to others, monsters who don’t deserve their next breath. But on the other side we have Killian who is a good man deep down, who does evil things, to protect those around him. A man who let’s light and love into his heart when he finds it. Even if it’s hard for him to recognize and accept it. He has a soft side, hidden deep within his impenetrable walls. A side that Chiara brings out time and again.

Chiara started off so vulnerable in this story, but she ended up picking her battles, she might have lost her freedom, she didn’t lose her fight no matter how many people tried to beat it down. She made calculated decisions and worked with what she had. Becoming the perfect match for Killian, his equal. Their endeavors together in the end were amazing, I’ll never look at stilettos the same again.

“When you survive the unthinkable, others begin to fear the strength you possess, and that strength is the greatest power you will ever know.”

Sheridan did it again! This one was dark and so incredibly good. I had so much fun reading this, once I started I couldn’t put it down until I finished. I just wish there was more of it, the connection between Chiara and Killian was on fire. I would love more in this world.

"A life with me is a life of ruins, but that doesn't mean I can't make you feel more alive than you've ever felt before, and it sure as hell doesn't mean that I can't give you everything you've ever wanted and more. You're a priceless jewel, Chiara, and I want to give you the world, even if it means burning it to ashes to fit it in the palm of your hand."

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars!
I enjoyed this one! I feel like the story didn’t beat around the bush. When feelings are felt, they’re known, and it was a nice reprieve from mafia romances where characters try to keep their feelings close to their chest. I enjoyed that aspect of this story. And the revenge, It was sweet! I love a bloody story, and this one totally measured up!

Chiara has the attitude to be the perfect mafia queen, she just needs to realize her own power. Once she does, oh man was it delicious the woman she becomes! I LOVED her transformation, even if I hated what pushed her there. And her confidence in her sexual appetite was unlike any other. Chiara is fucking crazy, and I loved her for it.

Killian has the heart that you wouldn’t expect of a mafia man, he refuses to see it. I loved Killian’s soft side for his Chiara. He was a ruthless killer, capable of mutilating a man, but he always has Chiara’s best interest at heart.

Killian is king, with Chiara as his queen, together they have the potential to run the shit out of the Romanian mafia!

This mafia romance was well written, but I have to say, it was pretty much an erotic sex fest from the beginning. If that's what you adore as the main focus of a mafia romance, then you'll probably love this book. I just didn't really connect with the heroine, as I thought her character had conflicting aspects. I enjoyed the mafia action when it happened, and I will try another book from this author. For me, it was an okay read and I'm sad to say I started skimming over the spicy scenes.

(I love slow burn romance with this genre, but no luck here. Our heroine picked out the hero was Romanian after him speaking one sentence? His name didn't fit his nationality. Killian is Irish and his surname sounded... Italian? Also, we know nothing about her.)

Do read the trigger warnings 🤣 no seriously do.

Our FMC finds herself sold to a man of darkness, she has no idea of his name, or who he is only that he attempts to take away her identity and use her for his own desires. Little does he realise he didn’t get no little submissive but a feisty lady 😈 She does go through the mill and enters her own darkness 🖤

Loved the grinding her teeth bit 🤭 😬

Sheridan never ceases to amaze me and once again wrote an incredible dark romance! I’d even say she bumped up the dark in this one cause there was a lot of evil and bad in this book but Killian was good under all his bad and Chiara really helped bring that out! I loved how Chiara grew and the two of them together were perfection!!

Killian and Chiara

Started out good but fizzled . For the most powerful man in the world a lot of shenanigans get by Killian. Chiara is trafficked and Killian takes her. It’s pretty much instalove for both of them. There’s a lot of repetitive inner monologue by both. The sex scenes were also repetitive. Probably could have easily cut this book by 100 pages if the repetitive thoughts were nixed. All the darkness was due to the h getting raped and sexually assaulted by others. What happens between the mcs isn’t dark at all. The h is gang banged and also attacked by the Hs cousin and his wife. The H doesn’t run a very secure ship despite cameras everywhere and bodyguards everywhere. The h gets assaulted in her room a couple times and then beat unconscious at the family ball a few feet away from the H. It’s like the keystone cops are running this mafia. Also what’s up with the Romanian H having an Irish first name and an Italian last name. It’s just one more kooky thing about this book. Then at the end the H and h go on serial killer spree…. This is the book that tried to hard.

love a good dark read

Stolen from the streets and sent to auction, Chiara is in luck as Killian takes her home for himself. Surprisingly I enjoyed this. Loved the way Chiara eventually thawed his heart. Both characters were great. Dark but could have pushed further. Overall a good read.

Review

I’ve read all of Sheridan Anne’s books (and loved them) but I have to say I wasn’t a fan of this one.
It felt very rushed, predictable, insta love. There was a lot of potential but the character building lacked.
Also, my husband is Romanian. Why would the head of the Romanian mafia have an Italian last name?

Fell too hard for each other too fast. There was just something a little off that I didn't enjoy about this book and I think it mainly had to do with the character development because the plot was great!

This story started very strong and promising but sadly couldn’t hold it up. The book is just too long. The plot was entertaining and I liked the characters but there were far too many pages. Endless descriptions of the landscape and inner monologues… ever heard of show and don‘t tell?
Anyways I enjoyed the plot. It was entertaining and thrilling with some twists and turns.
Chiara and Killian were hot together but I missed the moment they fell in love? They go from captor x captive to „omg we‘re so in love“ within 50 pages. There could have been more of a build up and tension. Both were good characters but they felt flat sometimes.
This was a good mafia romance but to be honest nothing special. In my opinion the whole plot would have fit in 300 pages maximum.

not the worst, but close

I knew it was going to be bad after reading the first couple of pages. I should have stopped there, but I really try to finish what I start. This was poorly written. The same as another one of her’s I’ve read, but I was hoping it was a one off. That was not the case. It got a little better in the middle but that only lasted a handful of chapters.

After a week Chiara makes a comment about how she tried to fight her feelings for Killian. Seriously? She begged him to f**k her as soon as they got to his house, the very first night. He kept drugging her, and she thought she should be grateful for his kindness. Krista, who Killian saved from a sex trafficking ring, thought it was ok for him to keep a victim of a sex trafficking ring captive. To be his sex slave. But it ok because she can roam the house. Oh and she can choose to live a comfortable and happy life as his PROPERTY, but no one can know her name or tell her his name. WTH! She’s just ok with this. Of course none of this lasts long, like a few days, then she makes demands, and he’s just like ok. 🙄.

She finds out who he is, and she has watched true crime stories about the terrible things he has done. He has told her he is a bad guy who does terrible things. But she’s horrified when she sees the crime scene photos in his “room of horror.” Seriously, they show crime scene photos on true crime shows, which she’s watched.

He spends the entire first 2/3s of the book, saying she needed to fear him to really love him. She finally does, and all of a sudden, she needs to leave to be safe. He talks about putting her in a safer place (neighborhood, work, etc), but he takes her back to the apartment she was taken in front of at the beginning. He leaves her money and a phone. She tells him off. So he shows up. How dare you say you don’t need me, blah blah. Tells her if she calls him be prepared because he won’t let her go again. WTH, she didn’t want to go to begin with!🙄🤦🏼‍♀️. What kind of threat is that?

Then Monica shows up at her work and threatens her. Killian is informed. Then her ex shows up at her apartment. Killian is informed (she assumes but it doesn’t really say). Obviously she isn’t safe, but nope he does nothing.

He shows up, when she calls but hangs up before he answers. His security team doesn’t answer. The security guys SUV has a bullet hole in the windshield. There is blood on the ground. He goes into her apartment, her bedroom window is open, her phone is smashed and her door was smashed in. But he says other than that there were no signs of foul play. OMG, dumb!

When she tells hm she is raped, he like oh ok. And when they finally catch his cousin, he is angrier about his betrayal than all the crap he did to his “wife.” And what is with that. I get why he did it but they just kept on doing it.

Yeah, nope. Just terrible.

Little did she know that walking home from work one night would lead her to be taken and thrown in a cage. Catching the eye of a man who appears also to be one of the most feared men in the room at the time was also a bonus compared to what the other prospects were. Chiara is now living in his McMansion and life doesn’t seem to be to hard becuase pleasing Killian isn’t that bad!
I really liked Chiara fiesty spirit and how that even though she was taken and sold the times in between in the beginning she gave people attitude and didn’t lose it. That even after the was sold she maintained it. I feel there is so much I want to say about her and there is so much I really also want to say about Killian but I really can’t becuase they are things that if I did you wouldn’t learn them as you read and that would defeat the purpose of you, the reader, reading the dang book!!! And I want you to read it find them out yourself.
I really like the connection that the two of them have. I really like that it is not one of those books that it is immediately instant but at the same time it isn’t like enemies to lovers type mafia romance. I feel like this type of mafia romance we don’t really get and it was refreshing. I really hope that Sheridan Anne writes more of these types of books in the future! I am also really digging the standalone!

I'll give it to Sheridan. She really knows how to write a gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching, sickening, yet incredibly sweet in a twisted sort of say story. I loved every moment of this book. I believe this book continues to show off Sheridan's incredible talent and storytelling skills. Not only is Chaira a perfectly flawed character, but she's incredibly strong. She takes the hits and keeps on getting up. No one could call her weak. While Krista wasn't a main character, she had incredible strength and fortitude. Sheridan writes FMC they way they deserve to be written. They may be broken and hurting in some areas, but they never give up and are stronger than what tried to break them. I also love Killian, of course, but he pales in comparison to Krista and Chaira. I think they are the true heroes of the story. This book is brutal in so many ways, but the love that Killian and Chaira have for each other off sets that brutality

Dark and delicious! This is the second book I’ve read by Sheridan Anne, and I’m not sure why I waited so long to indulge. This book touches on quite a few very dark themes; be sure to read over the TW before diving in.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Sheridans MMCs more, in waltzes Killian DeLorenzo. I am OBSESSED! From the nickname to the way he treats her? Honestly, guys trying to act all tough but really he is so soft for her 🥹😍
The way he is just so utterly obsessed with Chiara has me in a chokehold.
Once again Sheridan has made me fall in love with fictional characters but really, what’s new?
I devoured this book in a day and I’m not ashamed at all!
I was on my edge the entire time. I loved watching Chiara’s character development and seeing her become a bad biarchhh.
Because that scene one particular scene 👀👀👀
Also that certain special guest that made a tiny appearance! I would love to see a little something connecting those two families 😏 hint hint

⭐️ 4/5 🌶️ 4/5

This is the first book i've read by Sheridan Anne and I loved it. I loved her wirtting style, She really knows how to write a gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching, sickening, yet incredibly sweet in a twisted sort of say story. I loved every moment of this book. We all know the storyline with the mafia men, who take whatever woman they want and either marry them to further their family line or are just bad guys who eventually fall in love with their woman.

Killian and Chiara, unconventionally find each other, but it is one of instant connection. He saves her and brings her into a new world, one she is unfamiliar with. She thinks Killian is her hero because he saved from a future that would have just killed her. Chiara was building up her life, going to school, and trying to make ends meet with a job at a bar. She doesn’t miss much from her old life. While she is mostly enjoying this new and unfamiliar lifestyle with Killian there are more trials of tribulation to be had, and everything changes the day Chiara truly finds out who Killian is and what he is capable of... Something she was not expecting.

Chiara is a force to be reckoned with, for sure. She's bold, unafraid to take what she wants and make her thoughts known. He wants her submission and her obedience, but those two things don't come naturally for her and he is anything but tolerant, but he soon comes to love and admire her courage and falls in love with who Chiara is and not who he wants her to be.

A side that Chiara brings out time and again, and the side we all truly love to see.

Tropes:

Dark romance

Darkest Sin is Sheridan Anne's latest release and it's a standalone, dark Mafia romance. This book is pretty dark with all of the abuse and trauma that happens so please check the trigger warnings before diving in! Sheridan has a handy post on her instagram if you wanted to check it out.

This story follows Chiara, who gets kidnapped on her walk home from work one night and sold into slavery. After making eye contact with a mysterious man, he ultimately decides that he wants to keep her, and that's essentially where the story begins.

Killian is the head of his family's Mafia and is feared in his world, but Chiara comes in and turns everything on its head. Where he wants a submissive sex slave, she is argumentative and questions everything (which he secretly loves)

This story was super insta love for me. The characters seemed to rush into feelings and 'I can't stop thinking about them and I don't know why/want to'. I love Mafia reads and I really loved that side of the plot. I also loved how Killian is supposed to be a big scary macho Mafia man but is all gooey on the inside for those he cares about.

It was also great to see the name drop of the DiAngelis brothers!

You better believe the eep I eeped when sheridan announced she was releasing another mafia! I love my DeAngelis boys and couldn’t wait to see where a MF mafia written by the queen would go.
I had the pleasure of arc reading, and it did not disappoint. I was dreading the ending - I didn’t want it to be over.
I don’t know why I enjoy reading the most gut wrenching things that can happen to the FMC, but I absolutely eat it up. Especially when the MMC will be there to put the pieces back together.
This book absolutely delivered and checked so many boxes for my favourite tropes.
I just wish it could have been a bit longer - I wasn’t ready for it to end. I wanted to see a bit more from their relationship, I wanted to see it bloom and blossom and glimpse the future they will have together. Maybe a future novella 🤞

Highlight line of the book (contains spoilers, continue at your own discretion) : “When a woman tells you she is married to the most powerful man in the country, only a fool would assume that is an invitation to f* her.”

Amazing book!

I love a dark Mafia romance and Sheridan doesn’t disappoint, I will say this is quite dark so check your triggers if you read this.

Chiara is snatched off the street one night after finishing a shift at the bar and wakes up to find herself captured and on display in a cage to be sold.

Killian is the dark mysterious stranger that Chiara makes eye contact with across the room as she awaits her fate. It soon becomes clear Killian is a powerful and feared man and he is claiming Chiara for himself no questions asked.

Killian was the perfect MMC we love a morally grey man who will do anything to protect those his loves.
Chiara was a strong and sassy MFC but boy does she go through it.

I think I was about 70% in and I was balling my eyes out, my heart broke for her.
I’m not gonna say anything more than that because it will ruin it for you.

I 100% recommend this book.

If there is one thing about Sheridan, she can rip your heart out and stomp all over it. Darkest Sin is a standalone dark mafia so please check triggers for diving into this one. Chiara, the FMC is kidnapped on her walk home from work and sold into slavery. Killian sees her from across the room and immediately claims her. I love them both so much. I love a strong female lead, and Chiara fits that bill to a tee. Killian is morally gray in the best way possible. He’s got the “touch her and die” vibe down pat. I was actually sad when I finished the book. Spice is through the roof which was good and bad (sometimes I like a little relationship growth). But all in all I’m obsessed with these characters! Well done!

“𝖄𝖔𝖚 𝖇𝖊𝖑𝖔𝖓𝖌 𝖔 𝖒𝖊 𝖓𝖔𝖜."

The plot is great! Fast paced, suspense, lots of hot spice, mafia. Killian takes touch her and unalive to a new level.

Sheridan Anne is just kicking goals the last few releases. This book is fast paced, fast burn and was a fantastic read.

A strong FMC with an equally strong MMC who allows her to wiggle her way under his skin.

The spice is strong in this one and while I loved it I wished there was a bit more of a slow burn because it would have been an even wilder ride.

I love the writings of this book. The writing style for Killian is different and for Chiara is different too. It’s as if we can feel both sides differently. Killian was a gentleman. Dark but light at the same time. Chiara is a strong woman herself, never did anything to drag Killian down. Super love this book!!!!!
