My first taste of reading came in the 6th grade with the wonderful world of Scholastic Books. I looked through the two or three page catalog and dreamed. It was the only source of reading beyond the poorly stocked library in our little farming community (population just over 1000). I asked my parents for the money to give to the teacher and she placed the order. Seeing the box from Scholastic sitting on the teacher’s desk was like Christmas. There were books in that box just for me. I sat on the edge of my seat, waiting for the teacher to pull out my bundle and call my name.

I grew up on an Arkansas delta cotton farm. We worked hard and played hard. We roamed the fields, imagining we were somewhere else. But I wouldn’t have wanted to grow u

And then listening to people talk about the story and characters; getting their point of view and marveling at how differently they see my work. That fascinates me.(less)

Well, it's been multiple decades since I was in college. There are noticeable differences in how I write. I'll call my college days, "Back then".

Back then, I only wrote short stories. My whole style was very different. In fact, I dug one of them out of the dusty old closet and had a good laugh when I read it. But I also saw some potential in it. I rewrote it and retitled it, and it came out to be decent. I published the story, now entitled Currents of Thunder. It is available at Smashwords for free. Amazon hasn't caught on (or doesn't care) yet so it is 99 cents there.

Currents of Thunder is a science fiction tale of two immortal beings caught up in a personal war. The MC must outwit a creature capable of devouring a being's life force, the only way an immortal can truly die. I like the story enough that I may write a whole series of books based on it.

It takes time, a lot of time for some of us, to learn the craft of writing. I've spent several years doing it until I got to the point I was satisfied enough with my work to get it published.(less)

New Book: An Ending or A Beginning

I’m slow on the draw posting about the new book in the Lions and Lambs Saga. A War of Lions and Lambs has been published as an ebook, but also can be purchased in paperback from Amazon’s print on demand service. In fact, all my books are available in paperback now for those uninterested in reading electronically.

This novel completes the three book series (A Gathering of Lions and Lambs, A Reckonin

Cheryl Landmark Thanks for the friend request, Roger. Yes, Northern Ontario is indeed a beautiful area, but it certainly can be quite cool even in the summer. Fortunately, I live near the shore of Lake Superior and my little hamlet is moderated somewhat by the big water.

Roger Jackson Thanks for accepting Steph. I will keep my eyes open. I'm enjoying Wyrd Worlds now and plan to start on II as soon as I'm finished.
