Heart Star

|
Heart Stars are collectable items found in Kirby's Dream Land 3. These are all needed to forge the Love-Love Stick, a weapon which is used to battle Dark Matter at the end of the game. They are concentrated love and goodwill formed by denizens of Pop Star when they are grateful. Their name comes from the fact that they continually shift form between a heart and a star.
Guide[edit]
Each level in Kirby's Dream Land 3 has six stages (not counting boss stages), and one Heart Star can be found at the end of each stage. Kirby and his friends will pick up a Heart Star from a Pop Star denizen at the end of the stage, given that the proper conditions are met. After Kirby has collected all six Heart Stars in a particular level, he can use them to dispel the remaining dark clouds from the area, once he's beaten the level boss with them in hand. The boss in question—free from the clouds' influence—will thus be friendly to Kirby should he visit them again.
The following summarizes what needs to be done in each stage in order to get a Heart Star.
Heart Star locations in Kirby's Dream Land 3 | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage | Sprite | Name | How to reach |
Grass Land - Stage 1 | チュリップ Tulip |
The first Heart Star is given out by a large red Tulip with eyes. To get this piece, Kirby must venture through this stage without stepping on or otherwise harming any of the flower's buddies along the way. | |
Grass Land - Stage 2 | ムチムチ Muchimuchi |
This green creature named Muchimuchi can be found in a side-chamber in Room 2 of this stage. To make it happy, ChuChu needs to extend her tentacle at it, by using her default 'inhale' move. This done correctly, Muchimuchi will give out a Heart Star at the end of the stage. | |
Grass Land - Stage 3 | ピッチャマン Pitcherman |
In Room 3, after ascending the cliff, Kirby finds this pitcherman aside two rocky screens. He tosses a metal ball behind the screens, which transforms into a Gordo with a specific face in-between them - visible for only a very brief moment as such. Kirby has to then guess what the face looked like. This procedure is repeated twice more. If Kirby gets all three faces right, he will be able to collect a Heart Star from the pitcherman at the end of the stage. | |
Grass Land - Stage 4 | Chao & Goku | In Room 3, there is a bridge made of blocks that can be broken using the Stone ability. Underneath is a path that leads to an alternate doorway. Taking this path leads Kirby to a fight with Boboo. From there, he can reach a stranded monkey named Goku and collect him. This done, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage and reunite the monkey with Chao to get the Heart Star. | |
Grass Land - Stage 5 | Mine | Mine the sunfish is waiting for her husband at the end of this stage. If Kirby brings Kine with him to her, she will give out a Heart Star as thanks. | |
Grass Land - Stage 6 | ピエール Pierre |
In Room 2, in the hollow stump, there are three shapes scattered around the place: a triangle, a circle, and a square/rectangle. Kirby will need to collect all of these, then head to the stage exit with them. Done correctly, the clown at the end will be seen juggling them, and will give out a Heart Star. | |
Ripple Field - Stage 1 | カムリバナ Kamuribana |
There are three side-chambers in the walkway past Pitch and Nago. Kirby needs to enter each of these with Pitch and the Clean ability, and use that ability to lob water at each of the stems in these rooms to make them grow into tulips. If all six tulips grow and are not subsequently damaged, Kirby can obtain a Heart Star from another tulip at the end of the stage. | |
Ripple Field - Stage 2 | バカサ Bakasa |
In Room 3, after leaving the water tunnel section, there is a small suspended island with a door on it. In this door is this parasol-headed creature named Bakasa. To please it, Kirby will need to bring Kine and the Parasol ability. If Kirby activates this move next to Bakasa, it will begin to burst out laughing, as Kine and Kirby doing this move resembles it greatly. This done, it will grant Kirby a Heart Star when he reaches the end of the stage. | |
Ripple Field - Stage 3 | Elieel |
Along the path of this stage, Kirby will run into an open field with five large pots. This Elieel will emerge from one of them, and then begin a game with Kirby. Elieel will then start shuffling around between the pots, with Gordos occupying the other four. They'll pop up and back down repeatedly, getting faster each time. After the last pop-up, Kirby then has to guess which pot the Elieel is in. This game plays three times, and if Kirby gets all three guesses right, he will win, and be able to collect the Heart Star at the end of the stage. | |
Ripple Field - Stage 4 | コガムガエル & ガムガエル Kogamugaeru & Gamugaeru |
After ascending the dark tower in an auto-scrolling section, Kirby needs to find a hidden doorway on the left. This will take him on a path to do battle with Captain Stitch. After defeating this Gordo, Kirby will need to gain the Needle ability from the fallen Mid-Boss, then use it to free Kogamugaeru down a hallway. After the toad is obtained, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage to reunite it with its parent, named Gamugaeru, and get the Heart Star. Secret doors are normally not visible, but Kirby can use the Spark ability with Kine to see where they are. | |
Ripple Field - Stage 5 | ピッチママ Pitch Mama |
Pitch's mother is waiting at the end of this stage to see her son. She will give out a Heart Star when she does. | |
Ripple Field - Stage 6 | HB-002 | This creature can be found in a side-chamber in the hall after the Zebon challenge, in an underwater grotto. It is sitting next to a block formation in a squared diamond shape, similar to the shape of the creature itself. In an adjacent room is a 5x5 arrangement of Star Blocks. Kirby needs to break off the corners of this arrangement so that it matches the shape of the creature and the block formation in the first room. Once this is done, Kirby will receive a Heart Star from HB-002 when they meet again at the end of the stage. | |
Sand Canyon - Stage 1 | ゲロマズダケ Geromazudake |
In the very first area, Kirby will encounter both red tulips like the ones in Grass Land, and brown mushrooms. Unlike in that stage, Kirby is actually supposed to trample the tulips, but leave the mushrooms untouched. Done correctly, Kirby will receive a Heart Star from another mushroom, Geromazudake, at the end of the stage. | |
Sand Canyon - Stage 2 | オバチャン Oba-chan |
In the sandstone tower, past the guarding Bukiset a janitor named Oba-chan can be seen sweeping the floor. She has this room covered, but she'd be grateful if Kirby went and swept up the other two that have grown rather dusty. Naturally, the Clean ability is what Kirby will want for this task. Should he clean up both other floors, Oba-chan will give him a Heart Star as thanks at the end of the stage. | |
Sand Canyon - Stage 3 | カラメロ Caramelo |
Kirby will bump into this egg-shaped creature in a separate chamber in this stage. It presents a game, where it blows a bubble, causing a horde of Gordos in the air to briefly show faces. Kirby has to then guess how many Gordos of a specified sort there were. This goes on for three rounds. If Kirby gets all three guesses right, he will be given a Heart Star by Caramelo at the end of the stage. | |
Sand Canyon - Stage 4 | Donbe & Hikari | In the underwater auto-scrolling area, Kirby has to follow a specific set of tunnels - first down, then up, then through the middle. From there, he will fight the Mid-Boss Haboki, then be able to pick up the boy Donbe in the next area. When Kirby reaches the end of the stage and reunites Donbe with his sister Hikari, she will reward him with a Heart Star. | |
Sand Canyon - Stage 5 | ニュプン Nyupun |
Nyupun is waiting at the end of the stage for Kirby to arrive with ChuChu, and will give out a Heart Star as thanks. | |
Sand Canyon - Stage 6 | R.O.B. & Professor Hector | R.O.B. has been disassembled, and his pieces scattered all over the interior of the pyramid. In order to get the Heart Star from Professor Hector, Kirby will need to collect each piece before reaching the end of the stage. The pieces can be found in side-chambers, accessible from the main hub with the Zebon in it.
Once all the pieces are collected, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage. | |
Cloudy Park - Stage 1 | ヒバナモドキ Hibanamodoki |
In the last area of this stage, a bunch of flowers resembling this one can be found, but are covered in soot. To clean them off, Kirby will need not only the Clean ability, but Coo's or Rick's help as well. Kirby will need to brush off all of the flowers, but should be careful not to trample them in the process. If successful, Kirby can receive the heart-star from the last flower at the end. | |
Cloudy Park - Stage 2 | ピヨ & ケコ Piyo & Keko |
In the very last area, Kirby will find this small chick named Piyo hanging from a large red balloon. The goal here is to pop the balloon, allowing the chick to get back down, but only a variant of the Needle ability will do the trick. This done, the chick will reunite with its mother (Keko) who will give Kirby a Heart Star at the end of the stage. | |
Cloudy Park - Stage 3 | タマサン Tama-san |
Kirby will bump into this strange tri-colored creature along his path up the cloud-tops. Here, they will play a short Sub-Game. This game consists of three rounds, and in each one, a number of Gordos will appear briefly from behind a screen. These Gordos come in four different colors. Once they disappear, Kirby then has to guess how many of a particular color there were. Kirby has to get all three guesses right in order to receive a Heart Star at the end of the stage. | |
Cloudy Park - Stage 4 | ミカリン & かがみもっち Mikarin & Kagami Mocchi |
In the room directly following the fight with Jumper Shoot, a small orange-looking creature called Mikarin can be seen sitting on a platform against a strong current of wind. In order to reach it, Kirby will need help from Coo. Once Mikarin is collected, Kirby then has to reach the end of the stage to reunite it with Kagami Mocchi. Once there, Mikarin will be sitting on top of Kagami Mocchi, and they will gift Kirby a Heart Star. | |
Cloudy Park - Stage 5 | Pick | Pick the hamster is waiting for her boyfriend at the end of this stage. She will give out a Heart Star to Kirby if he brings Rick along. | |
Cloudy Park - Stage 6 | HB-007 | In a side-chamber from the hall full of Mopoo, HB-007 can be found. It is standing on its head. In the room adjacent is a 5x5 array of Star Blocks. Kirby has to shape this arrangement by removing select blocks from the grouping, but Kirby has to make sure the shape is the right way up. This done correctly, the creature, now right side up, will give Kirby a Heart Star at the end of the stage. | |
Iceberg - Stage 1 | コゴエソウ Kogoesou |
In the third area of this stage, on a snowy hillside, several daisies can be found frozen solid. Kirby has to use the Burning ability to thaw them out, but he has to be careful not to trample them afterward. Once all of them are thawed, he can pick up a Heart Star from another daisy at the end of the stage. | |
Iceberg - Stage 2 | Samus | In the first area of the magma caves, Kirby can find three side-chambers filled with Metroids. Kirby has to use the Ice ability to freeze them, then knock them away. If he freezes all six, he can rendezvous with Samus at the end, who will give him a Heart Star as thanks. Notably, like in the Metroid games, Samus will remove her helmet if Kirby successfully completes the mission. | |
Iceberg - Stage 3 | Chef Kawasaki |
Kirby will bump into Chef Kawasaki along the path, who will provide him with the last Sub-Game. This game consists of three rounds. In each round, Kawasaki tosses out five Gordos, which will then each make a specific sound, one after the other. Kawasaki then bangs his pan on a sixth Gordo, making the same sound as one of the previous Gordos. Kirby has to guess which Gordo made that particular sound. If Kirby gets all three guesses right, Kawasaki will reward him with a Heart Star at the end of the stage. | |
Iceberg - Stage 4 | ナメ Name |
To get this Heart Star, Kirby has to recover the lost shell of a snail. It can be found by collecting the Burning ability and Coo, then breaking through the ice block tunnel. Along this tunnel, a side-door can be found accessible only by means of these two elements together. From there, Kirby has to alternate between Coo and ChuChu to break through more ice barricades and reach an area where the shell can be found. From there, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage. | |
Iceberg - Stage 5 | シロ Shiro |
Shiro the cat is waiting for her boyfriend at the end of this stage. She will give out a Heart Star to Kirby if he brings Nago with him. Kirby will have to enter the stage with Nago to do this, however, as Nago does not appear in the stage itself. | |
Iceberg - Stage 6 | エンジェル Angel |
For the last Heart Star, Kirby will need to progress through this stage, collecting eight feathers along the way. These turn out to make up an angel's wings. To do this, Kirby will need to use every Copy Ability to break through the appropriate Blocks. The needed abilities are, in order:
This done, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage, where the angel will give him the Heart Star as thanks for helping her get her wings back. |
There is a basic pattern to the tasks in each level. Each first stage involves flowers or mushrooms, each second stage requires a specific Copy Ability or Animal Friend, each third stage involves a Sub-Game, each fourth stage is a search-and-rescue mission where Kirby has to battle a Mid-Boss, each fifth stage involves bringing the right Animal Friend to the end of the stage to reunite with another of their kind, and each sixth stage involves either collecting objects to bring to the end of the stage or destroying Star Block structures in just such a way that they form a specific shape.
