Hi. I thought I might be able to help out with your recent attempt at adding a note to an article. I happen to have the page Rio Grande Rivalry (football) on my watchlist due to past disruption, so I couldn't help but notice your edits. The easiest and most effective way I've found to add an explanatory footnote is to use Template:Efn.

For your specific case, add the code {{efn|New Mexico cites the final score as 25-5, while New Mexico State cites the final as 18-6.}} at the desired location in the body of the article. Create a Notes section ==Notes== below the See also section, but above the References section. Place {{notelist}} in this newly created Notes section.

The note text should then fully appear in the Notes section and it should also appear when the cursor hovers over the [a] note symbol via the mouse-over function.

When your all done, the whole thing should look like this. (Done in my sandbox. I removed the categories from the copied content so as not to miscategorize my sandbox. So please do not copy the entire contents and paste it into the article unless you remember to add the categories back in at the bottom and also remove the sandbox banner from the top.)

Hope I've been of some help:) --DB1729talk 17:38, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
