Phrygia is one of the seven Magypsies in Mother 3. They first appear in Chapter 1 and are typically the fourth to have their Needle pulled in Chapter 7. They are named after the Phrygian mode of music.

Personality

Phrygia often takes naps and is frequently found asleep. When they are not busy sleeping, however, they are shown to be serious and knowledgeable, paying close attention to details. Phrygia is skilled at organizing their thoughts, and often writes them down in their secret notebook.

History

They have been guarding the Needle deep within Fire Mountain for thousands of years, blocking the path to the volcano with large stone blocks. They have enchanted the stones to only move when someone tells them a specific set of encouraging words, which Phrygia only gives out when the time for the Needle to be pulled has come.

In Chapter 1, they are first met by Flint at one of Aeolia's monthly parties. Flint had come to Aeolia to inquire about his missing son, Claus. Phrygia wonders why he was so concerned about Claus's safety, arguing that the Magypsies shouldn't care about such comparatively short lifespans.

Phrygia is asleep.

Later, in Chapter 7, Lucas goes to visit Phrygia at their house; however, they are fast asleep. Phrygia had predicted this occurring, so they had written him a brief letter in advance. The letter tells Lucas of the Needle's location within the volcano and left him the specific phrases to move the boulders blocking the path. Very shortly after Lucas pulls the Needle, Phrygia wakes up and rushes over to him, briefly stating where the next Needles are located. Phrygia also wrote this information down in one of their notebooks, which they give to Lucas. They lament about never being able to know the location of Locria's Needle, then disappear, leaving behind their memento.
