Shihab Ibn Alim is an Arabyan sorcerer who has discovered the existence of the Knights of Magritta and has become a formidable adversary to their order. He has the ear of a sultan and powerful Djinn servants. The order has a formidable foe working against it and it doesn’t yet realise it.[1a]
History[]
Shihab Ibn Alim discovered the truth of the Knights of Magritta twenty years ago when he was hired by the Sultan of Copher to investigate ship sinkings. Capturing a Sartosan pirate named Fredo Tellini, Shihab learned little directly but tasked a spirit to follow the pirate. When released, Tellini, a teacher of the Knights of Magritta, inadvertently exposed the order. Since then, Shihab has gathered information about the Knights and works against their interests. He has the ear of a sultan and powerful Djinn servants, posing a formidable threat to the Knights who remain unaware of his role.[1a]
In Wurtbad inside the Golden Eagle inn, an assassin of Shihab Ibn Alim mistakenly killed the wrong man, istead of Egon Rothstein, a visiting nobleman part of the secret society of the Knights of Magritta. A local Witch Hunter hired adventurers to investigate, uncovering deeper complexities at the Golden Eagle. Initially thought to involve the secret society, then the investigation revealed that Rothstein was not the intended target.[1a][Note 1]
Egon Rothstein, a master of the Order, aided the investigation when he suspected Shihab Ibn Alim's involvement. The sorcerer then sent a Djinn from Araby to complete the job, but the outcome is unknown.[1a][Note 1]
Shihab Ibn Alim's influence extended to another event involving the Knights of Magritta, where their banner was raised falsely in Estalia. Students and teachers of the order were sent to uncover the impostors' identity and motives. Motivations ranged from a nobleman's ambition to rogue actions within the order or possibly agents of Shihab Ibn Alim attempting to manipulate events. The unfolding events could have lasting consequences for the Knights of Magritta and the Old World.[1a][Note 1]
