“ | To grow up here... makes you twisted. I'm saving them from the awful things that they'll do. The things that'll turn them. Sometimes, murder is mercy. (...) No. Not right away. She tried to save my first--Martin. But then she realized what would happen if Martin told, so we left him in the woods. She was sick about it, but what could she do? I was her son! She almost lost me once, she couldn't stand to lose me again. To kill me would be to kill herself. And... what was it? "Murder shouldn't be the only option." That's what you said, right? Well, in this world, you have to fight for what little you have.

Arnaud is a main character and an antagonist, as well as a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Tales of the Walking Dead. He served as the primary antagonist of the episode "Davon".
Overview[]
Arnaud was a deranged young man who appeared to have lost his mind because of the horrors of the world, possibly related to witnessing the death of his father. Raised on his mother's belief that "sometimes murder is mercy," Arnaud began murdering the other children of Madawaska, including attempting to kill his own cousin, because he saw it as more merciful than letting the world change them into monsters. However, he did appear to be remorseful to a degree, visibly crying while talking about his actions and justifying it both to himself and others.
While Arnaud was confident and even arrogant to a degree when confronted by Davon, as soon as Davon disarmed him and started screaming for Nora, Arnaud revealed himself to be a coward, immediately begging and pleading for his life and trying to pin his murders on Davon. At the end, all Arnaud could do was to keep screaming that it was Davon, even after he had been exposed and to beg for his life even when it was clearly futile.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Madawaska, Maine[]
Nothing is known about Arnaud's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he lived in Madawaska, Maine with his mother, father, and extended family.
Post-Apocalypse[]
When the outbreak began, the surviving inhabitants of Madawaska were organized and led by Amanda. The townspeople built a gate around a portion of the town and locked themselves in, creating a safe haven from the undead world.
At some point, Madawaska befell on wartime.[1] During this, Arnaud and his father ventured beyond the wall, where the latter was subsequently killed while Arnaud narrowly escaped death and was left with a scar on his neck. Traumatized by the horrors of this event, Arnaud adopted the philosophy of his mother that "murder is mercy", which insisted that certain individuals, both innocent and guilty don't deserve to be alive due to the hopelessly anarchic and lawless state of the world. Arnaud would go on into his early adulthood and finally act on this belief when he kidnapped a boy from town one day and kept him in his basement. Amanda attempted to stop Arnaud from "freeing" the boy, believing that killing him would spare him from experiencing the same atrocities he underwent upon growing up in the apocalypse, though she soon realized they'd be unable to conceal Arnaud's secret by letting him go and the two left the boy in the woods to die instead. Over the next few months, Arnaud continued his killing spree in secret, even going as far as kidnapping his own cousin with Amanda as his accomplice, who sought to protect him.

After Davon and Garen expose Arnaud as the serial killer targeting their children, a couple of parents strike Arnaud before he is dragged to the pit by two men and thrown in where the undead Greer and David kill him, as the rest of the townspeople watch.
