Summary
Within Bleach most of the major (and even minor) characters are Souls, constructed of Reishi particles and given inherent characteristics that are gained through being a soul in the series, this blog will index all the abilities gained through these characteristics.
Low-Tier Souls:
This rating is given out to anyone who exist as a Soul within the series and those that possess any decent amount of Reiryoku.
Example: Fishbone D and BOS Shinigami Ichigo.
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Even possessing an average amount of Reiryoku allows you to perform superhuman feats such as destroying large sections of a house with your bare fist[1] or putting massive holes into mountain-like formations[2])
- Ectoplasm Manipulation/Energy Projection/Damage Boost (Every Soul in Bleach possesses Reiryoku[3], a spiritual energy created by spiritual beings[4] that can be used and projected in many ways such as through special abilities[5] or even imbuing their regular attacks with it to increase its power[6])
- Invisibility (Souls are invisible to those that don't possess Reiryoku or the ability to see souls[7])
- Reactive Power Level (Souls gain the most Reiryoku when they're placed in life or death scenarios[2], Reiryoku is the energy used to increase physical stats such as strength/durability[8] and speed[4])
- Platform Creation/Flight/Limited Matter Manipulation (Souls can create platforms through manipulating the Reishi particles beneath their feet, this grants Souls a pseudo-form of flight[9])
- Enhanced Senses/Extraordinary Perception (Souls can see and sense spiritual entities[1] with Reiatsu/Reiryoku[10], all beings within Bleach that use Reiatsu/Reiryoku possess an ability called Reikaku. Reikaku allows those with it to see Reiatsu in a physical form, allowing them to see things without needing their eyesight[11])
- Longevity (Souls that possess Reiryoku age slower compared to regular humans because of their life-force being tied directly to their Reiryoku amount[12], even lower-end characters like Rukia have lived for at least a century[1])
- Statistics Amplification (Souls can increase their speed[4], attack potency and durability with Reiryoku[8])
- Dimensional Travel/Portal Creation (Members of the three major races within[3] Bleach can create portals that[13] allow them to travel between dimensions[14])
- Soul Manipulation/Non-Physical Interaction (Everyone that possesses Reiryoku within Bleach can interact with souls in one way or another[1], Reiatsu directly attacks the soul of those effected by it[15], souls can interact with Senna, an abstract entity comprised entirely of memories[16])
- Aura (Overwhelming, Fear Inducement, Materialized and Explosive: Reiatsu induces a plethora of different aliments/effects onto those that affected by it like Soul Manipulation[15], Paralysis Inducement[17], Fear Manipulation[18] and many others)
- Limited Healing (Souls in Bleach that reside in Reishi rich area restore their Reiryoku quicker[19])
- Immortality (Type 2 and Type 4 - Type 4 Non-Combat Applicable: Every being within Bleach abides by a reincarnation process through the Soul Cycle[20], Rukia states that a souls life force is tied[12] to their spirit energy, Ichigo survives[21] having a large chunk of his heart and right lung destroyed by Grand Fisher, Toshiro survives[22] getting pierced through the heart by a burner finger 1, Yamamoto is still making[23] actions to stop Yhwach after being split in 2, and all the captains only fully acknowledge[23] his death only after his upper torso in completely destroyed by Yhwach, Ichigo survives[3] getting his Saketsu and Hakusui destroyed, they are directly stated to function as hearts[24] to a Shinigami)
- Limited Power Nullification (Reiryoku can null the abilities and techniques of those massively weaker than the user)
- Possible Invulnerability (Souls are implied to only be able to be damaged by attacks that strike on the astral level[25], This is further implied by Jackie's statement[26])
- Limited Sense Manipulation (Reiryoku can jam[1] the senses of those massively weaker than the user)
Low-Tier Souls Resistances:
This rating is given out to anyone who exist as a Soul within the series and those that possess any decent amount of Reiryoku.
Example: Fishbone D and BOS Shinigami Ichigo.
- Soul Manipulation/Fear Manipulation/Paralysis Inducement (Souls with Reiryoku can resist the baseline effects of Reiatsu)
- Matter Manipulation/Deconstruction/Absorption (Souls with Reiryoku can resist the[27] effects of a Quincy's ability to deconstruct, manipulate and absorb matter[6])
- Unconventional Resistance to Mind Manipulation (Minds in Bleach are intertwined with their souls)
- Corruption (Type 2: which causes Death Manipulation/Poison Manipulation/Statistics Reduction) (Only Hollows/Shinigami and Fullbringers: These specific races can resist the passive existence of Hollow's via possessing anti-bodies against them[28])
High-Tier Souls:
This rating is given out to anyone that possesses a large amount of Reiryoku, comparable to that of a Lieutenant-Class Shinigami or a Fraccion-Class Arrancar/Hollow.
Examples: Shawlong and Kira.
All previous abilities/resistances including:
- Afterimage Creation (Within all the 3 major races in Bleach exist movement[29] techniques that allows the user's[30] of them to create after-images of themselves[31])
- Air Manipulation (Characters with sufficient amount of Reiryoku can swing their attacks hard[32] enough to create air pressure behind them[33])
- Information Analysis (Proficient users of their specific race's sensory technique can sense the actual power-level of their opponent[34])
- Vibration Manipulation (Only Soul Reapers and Hollows[36]: When releasing their swords[37], they can release a powerful shock wave[38])
- Greater Enhanced Senses/Enhanced Non-Physical Interaction (Souls with high perception can see/interact with Spirit ribbons which are invisible/intangible to low ranking souls who can see/interact with Souls[39])
- Enhanced Longevity (Souls with Lieutenant levels of Reiryoku can live for hundreds of years as shown by Rukia and Captain levels of Reiryoku can live for thousands of years as shown by Yamamoto)
- Limited Transformation (When characters within Bleach release their specific race-based transformations[38] it transforms their physical appearance and function of their main abilities[40])
- Aura Suppression (Souls that have proficient control over their Reiryoku can cloak it from opponents who have inherent layered sensory capabilities[41])
- Immense Pain Tolerance (Possessing a decent amount of Reiryoku allows those that have it to resist the pain of wounds more compared to those without Reiryoku and increases their ability to survive normally fatal wounds as well[42])
High-Tier Souls Resistances:
This rating is given out to anyone that possesses an large amount of Reiryoku, comparable to that of a Lieutenant-Class Shinigami or a Fraccion-Class Arrancar/Hollow.
Examples: Shawlong and Kira.
All previous resistances greatly increased including:
- Sleep Manipulation (Souls with high Reiryoku can resist Shinten which causes those affected by it to feel dizzy and eventually pass out[43])
- Limited Resistance to Corruption (Type 1: Which causes Mind Manipulation) (Giselle's "The Zombie" diminishes[44] in effectiveness against individuals with strong Reiatsu)
- Illusion Creation and Pain Manipulation (High-Tier souls can resist the effects of Zaraki's Reiatsu)
