Summary
Rikuo Nura (奴良 リクオ, Nura Rikuo) is the main protagonist of the Nurarihyon no Mago series. He is the son of Rihan Nura and Wakana Nura and the grandson of Nurarihyon. He is Human by ¾ of his blood and a Yōkai by the other ¼ and is the third and current head of the Nura Clan. He is a class celebrity and a good guy due to his volunteering on odd jobs and favors for everyone.

Gifted - Despite being only 12 years old Rikuo is an exceedingly intelligent person given his Yokai bloodline granting him similar knowledge[52] and expertise of the previous Nura Clan head and Rikuo's father, Rihan. Rikuo is able to create complex strategies over a short period of time, with Yokai who have lived for thousands of years believing them only "a bit rough",[53] these strategies include effectively choosing and using subordinates which specialized within certain areas, such as Gyuki clan members as reconnaissance since Yokai from the Gyuki clan embody "deceit and manipulation" since that's their "fear" emblem.[52] Rikuo can also quickly learn newly taught abilities, such as the ability to "break fear" or "possession",[2] learning it after only a day, and quickly mastering it shortly after, or when it only took three days of constant fighting[9] to learn "equip".[32] He can also expand upon these newly taught and mastered abilities, such as only being taught the basics of "possession", he was able to manipulate his "fear" to the point of placing it into his blade,[34] increasing his physical attacking strength[34] or coating his blade with Mekiyou Shisui Sakura, which seemingly was considered as an incredible feat to Itaku.[8]
Gifted - Rikuo's an extremely talented swordsman, this being born through multiple compounding factors such as his Yokai bloodline granting him innate knowledge and skill about combat and his constant[54] fighting[54] and training.[34] This is concretely shown in Rikuo's interactions with Gyuki,[31] where Rikuo while in one of his weakest and least skilled iterations was able to fight on par with[31] and eventually defeated Gyuki,[10] someone who has existed for a thousand years,[10] having fought most of those years against strong and skillful Yokai like himself,[10] with stronger iterations of Rikuo being capable of fighting against multiple Gyuki caliber opponent's for three days straight.[9] Even while in his human form, which doesn't possess the same level of strength and combat intelligence as his Yokai form, was able to accurately and swiftly knock away the camera's[55] and weaponry of multiple grown adult men,[55] this being doubly impressive given the fact Rikuo is only 12 years old during this interaction.[1]
Weaknesses: Can only retain his Yokai form if[14] he isn't affected by direct sunlight,[14] Nenekirimaru can't mortally harm humans,[33] Yokai abilities are reliant on the person fearing them, meaning those who don't fear a Yokai aren't effected by their techniques.[25]
- Meikyo Shisui (明鏡止水, Clear Mirror, Still Water) - An ability which creates a "mental block" within the opponent's mind,[19] causing Nura to become undetectable by their perception,[19] either visually[19] or through supernatural sensory capabilities,[2] this ability however has a slight weakness, it requires Rikuo to be calm to active and maintain, as if he isn't it causes the ability to be disabled.[3] It can also nullify the illusions of others,[31] such as shown with Nura's interaction with Gyuki.[31]
- Meikyo Shisui Sakura (奥義・明鏡止水"桜"; "Secret Technique: Soul Mirror, Deadly Water - Cherry Blossoms") - Rikuo creates a raging pillar of flame from the liquid within his Sake cup, this fire burns continuously until dawn breaks, after which it reduces the opponent into dust.[30]
- Kyouka Suigetsu (鏡花水月; "Mirror Flower, Water Moon") - Rikuo shifts the consciousness of the effect target,[32] causing them to see and sense an illusion of Rikuo while the actual Rikuo is undetectable either visually or through supernatural sensory capabilities, this effect being similar but more potent compared to Meikyo Shisui since it doesn't require Rikuo to be calm and of clear mind to active and maintain.[3] The illusion which is generated by this technique is also intangible, selectively turning into smoke depending on which area was attacked.[3]
- Zen - Nura "equips" Zen's fear, allowing him to generate[35] and coat his blade and body in a[35] powerful organic poison,[56] causing anything which interacts with or gets interacted by Rikuo to be poisoned, this poison is extremely potent, inducing crippling physical effects to the opponent, causing their physical movements to become slow and sluggish to the point of mimicking a pseudo form of paralysis, it'll eventually cause death if not imminently treated.[35]
- Tsurara - Nura "equips" Tsurara's fear,[36] allowing him to generate and coat his sword in ice which instantly flash freezes everything it interacts with.[36]
- Itaku - Nura "equips" Itaku's fear, causing his sword to be transformed into a fear-coated scythe,[37] this drastically increases the attacking power of Rikuo,[37] allowing him to heavily damage opponents[37] which previously were unaffected by his basic strikes.[32]
- Kurotabo - Nura "equips" Kurotabo's,[38] allowing him to summon/create thousands of different weapons from nothing,[39] it also massively increase his physical stats.[39]
- Hagoromo Gitsune - Nura "equips" Hagoromo Gitsune's fear, transforming his physical appearance in the process,[42] this "equip" is Nura's strongest "equip" as it greatly increases his physical strength to the point he can casually cut through Abe no Semi's Jutsu,[42] which previously shredded through Nura[4] and Hagoromo Gitsune,[4] it also amplifies Nura's inherent regenerative capabilities, allowing him to regenerate[42] the missing chunks of skull and brain which was forcefully removed by Abe no Semi's Jutsu.[4]
