~ ClayFighter: Sculptor's Cut Theme Song |
Summary
ClayFighter is a fighting game franchise developed by Visual Concepts and Interplay. It is fairly parodic in nature, largely taking jabs and inspiration at games such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, being quite similar in nature, only with the basic premise of all of the fighters being cartoonish characters made out of clay. The first game, simply titled Clayfighter, was released in 1993 with its Tournament Edition releasing that following year. It was succeeded by ClayFighter 2: Judgement Clay in 1995 and ClayFighter 63 ⅓ in 1997, with its special edition Sculptor's Cut released as a Blockbuster rental exclusive in 1998. Two sequels, ClayFighter: Extreme and ClayFighter: Call of Putty, were planned but unfortunately cancelled.
The first game's premise revolves around the events proceeding a radioactive clay meteor colliding with the grounds of a circus. The inhabitants surrounding survive, but have been mutated into clay creatures with various superpowers, and immediately get the idea to brawl each other for the purpose of becoming King of the Circus. Canonically, Tiny wins this first tournament after defeating the final enemy, N. Boss.
Shortly afterwards, the radioactive meteor became active once again and has begun spreading clay emissions, flooding the land in a sea of bubbling clay. The reason behind this seems to be the machinations of the evil Dr. Klin, who reawakened the meteor by shooting a booger from his nostrils inside of it. With this, he proclaims himself the world's new ruler, believing no one would be able to stop him. However, fighters both new and old rise up to challenge him and seemingly defeat the mad doctor after beating one of their doubles.
Another meteor, simply named, "Bessie", strikes Klaymodo Island as well as a craft containing previous and new combatants. This island is inhabited by Dr. Klin, who seeks to use the meteor for his mutagen. Hearing of his plan, the crashed combatants seek out Dr. Klin to stop his evil plans while also fighting those who have joined his cause.
Power of the Verse
ClayFighter is a fairly powerful verse with somewhat skilled fighters like Kung Pow and Tiny. The verse has a decent amount of hax stemming from their clay physiology, mutated superpowers and ability to regenerate while also having characters who can harness and manipulate the radioactive clay that mutated the fighters both naturally and artificially. The verse currently sits at Small Town Level+ for all starting characters being able to endure the meteor crash set at the first game and Subsonic for achieving speeds that can leave behind afterimages. The verse's lifting strength scales to Class 25 and Class K for Bad Mr. Frosty's feat of crushing other combatants with his bare hands.
