Biography[]
Backstory[]
Larry was once a star athlete who went by the name, "Crusher" until he retired from his pro-athlete days and turned to a life of crime adopting the alias, Sportsmaster. At some point Larry married his partner Paula Brooks/Tigress and they both joined the Injustice Society of America, believing it to be in the best interests of their daughter, Artemis Crock.
On Christmas Eve, 2010, Sportsmaster fought alongside fellow ISA members in a battle against the Justice Society of America in which he and his wife were beaten by JSA leader Starman. Sportsmaster then heads outside and looks on with Tigress, Brainwave and Icicle as Starman and Stripesy fall out of the sky, signifying the ISA's victory. Sportsmaster then adjusts to life in Blue Valley, Nebraska with his family and opens up a local gym called Rip City, though he misses being an active criminal.
Ten years later Sportsmaster and Tigress were called back into active duty by Icicle to assist the Gambler. They attack and overpower Stargirl and her friends when they attempt to intercept the operation, but flee when S.T.R.I.P.E. arrives. Sportsmaster later assists the ISA in enacting Project: New America by assassinating those who stand in their way only to be defeated by Stargirl's JSA.
Following the ISA's defeat; Crusher and Paula are both sent to prison for their crimes where they are frequently visited by Artemis.
Personality[]
Larry was a boisterous, prideful athlete who thrived on working out and energizing others, though his interest in athletics, falls within the realm of extremism, with Larry having no qualms about injuring or outright murdering individuals who clash with his views, especially those who mistreated his daughter, Artemis whom he is extremely proud of.
Despite his generally violent nature, he is shown to be somewhat merciful and honorable as he would often give his opponent a chance to fight back. He also seemed to admire Stargirl's combat skills during their first encounter.
Larry also has a genuine, albeit twisted, friendship with Pat Dugan as he truly wanted to help him get in better shape and would often criticize him for not following the program.
