Sassette Smurfling is one of the titular main protagonists in The Smurfs series.

She was voiced by Julie Dees-McWhirter.

Biography[]

Past[]

In the episode, "Sassette", Sassette was created by the Smurflings: Nat, Snappy, and Slouchy in order to cheer up Smurfette who felt rather lonely since she was obviously the only female Smurf in the village and with different interests using the very same formula Gargamel once used to create Smurfette. However, what the Smurflings didn't know is that when Gargamel found out that they had taken a page on the Smurfette-making formula from his book in his castle while he was busy trying to catch a fleeing Azrael from his bath for lunch at his mother's later on, he preceded them to Squeamy Squirming Grotto where the magic blue clay needed to create the new Smurfette is located in order to cast a spell on it which would ensure that once it comes in contact with the noonday sun the next day, it will explode along with the entire village as well.

In Papa Smurf's lab, once the Smurflings have collected a smaller amount of blue clay along with the rest of the ingredients needed, Sassette is created and does not hesitate to start causing mischief and trouble for almost every Smurf in the village such as tickling Hefty until he drops his weights on his right foot, making Greedy trip on his newly-baked Smurfberry cupcakes, smashing Painter's latest masterpiece on his head, wrapping Tailor in his own measuring strings, smashing a pumpkin on Farmer's head, and dropping ants in Brainy's pants before running off into the woods.

Later, Sassette spots Smurfette pondering by the riverside of what to do being the only female Smurf in the village and maliciously scares the latter with a fake spider dangling on her face until she is finally doused by Papa Smurf with his special formula that turns her from a wild-haired non-Smurf into a braided-haired real Smurf, nearly the same formula Papa once used to turn Smurfette into a real Smurf as well. Little by little, Sassette (a name suggested earlier by Painter prior to her transformation and eventually given to her by everyone else afterwards) begins to learn and adapt to life in the village through Papa and especially, a rejoiced Smurfette's teachings whereas the Smurflings are unfortunately punished for breaking the first two rules: 1) never go to Gargamel's and 2) never mess around in Papa Smurf's laboratory. Despite showing a different interest from Smurfette's, Sassette is still loved and cared for either way like a "little sister" by Smurfette who later tries to warn her about Gargamel by taking her as close to his castle as they dare in order to prove the latter's point even though Sassette doesn't seem too convinced about Gargamel being as evil as Smurfette leads her to believe.

The next day, after Smurfette chooses to do her chores rather than play instead, Sassette tries her best to get the other Smurflings to play with her despite their punishment, which eventually causes Snappy to snap up to a point where he carelessly tells Sassette that she isn't a real Smurf since she was made from Gargamel's formula by them and that they're being punished for creating her. Unfortunately, this causes Sassette to run off into the forest crying when she suddenly feels that Papa Smurf never really wanted her in the first place, which makes Snappy feel a bit regretful when Nat points out that he hurt her feelings. Feeling unloved and unwanted, Sassette tries to move in with Gargamel, but both the evil wizard and his cat, Azrael run away scared into the forest, knowing that she will eventually explode once in contact with the noonday sun. Luckily, Papa, having discovered Gargamel's spell on the clay earlier, rushes into the forest along with Smurfette and the Smurflings in order to douse Sassette with an anti-explosion solution and save everyone before it is too late. After having unintentionally chased both Gargamel and Azrael up a tree, Sassette refuses to go back to the village when Papa and the other Smurfs ask her to come back and tries to join up with Gargamel, but both the Smurfs and Gargamel try to convince her that she really does belong with the Smurfs and that they truly want and love her. With that said, a now-rejoiced Sassette comes jumping back down into Smurfette's arms until both of them are doused by Papa with his formula and everyone is safe at last now.

With Gargamel's latest plan foiled and Sassette back in the village, Papa decides to hold a ceremony for Sassette to officially adopt her as and make her feel like a real true-blue Smurf, thus, making her part of the Smurfs' family and vice-versa while also awarding her with a medal that makes her an honest-to-goodness Smurf as well.
