The Robber is an antagonist in Monty Python's Flying Circus and Monty Python's 1971 film And Now For Something Completely Different. He is a criminal who escaped from jail who appears at various points in the film.
He was portrayed by the late Terry Jones, who also played the left head of the Three-Headed Giant in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He was also portrayed John Cleese, who also played the French Taunter and The Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the High Priest in Monty Python's Life of Brian, Eric's assistant in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, Mungo the Cook, The Customer, Mr. Hilter and the Narrator of "How Not to be Seen" in Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Personality[]
As shown in his two appearances, he is shown to be a thief with no moral compass who tries to get what he wants no matter what. He is greedy and sociopathic, but at the same time, is very sophisticated and doesn't get upset when he learns that he accidentally went into a lingerie shop.
Biography[]
When explaining how toothpaste is an allegory of political views, the narrator is shot dead. The criminal then runs into an alleyway and the cops corner him. He says they won't take him alive, but they drop a tonne on his hiding place. They think he died and leave, but later in the film, the robber comes in to a lingerie shop, mistaking it for a bank. He wants piles of money, but in the end, makes do with panties.
