Makunga spying on Zuba as he tries to teach young Alex how to fight, but is facing extreme difficulty (as the cub is more interested in dancing).

"It's so disappointing when they don't grow up the way you want them to."

"Look at the bright side, Zuba. After I defeat you and take over as Alpha Lion, you'll have so much more time to spend with your pathetic excuse of a son!"

Zuba defeating Makunga rather easily.

"Alakay, yeah! The prodigal son returns! This is perfect!"

(Teetsi: I thought you hated Zuba.) "No, I do. I do. I hate him."

"Oh, I do."

"And I'm gonna use Alakay, yes!"

"I'm gonna use him to get rid of Zuba once and for all!" Makunga plans on using Alex to overthrow Zuba; and his menacing stare.

Makunga reminds Zuba that Alex must perform the Rite of Passage in order to be officially accepted into the pride.

"If it was me out there... I'd choose Teetsi."

"This is even better than I thought!" Makunga laughing as Alex dances in front of Teetsi (thinking the Right of Passage is a dance contest and not a fight).

Makunga rises to power by taking the role as Alpha lion; also his evil grin.

"Sorry, folks, but life isn't fair. I'm in charge now!"

Makunga insulting Alex when he volunteers to leave the reserve to reset the watering hole. Determined to prove the pompous Makunga wrong, Alex leaves on his quest.

Makunga’s breakdown; as he’s growling with fury when the animals criticize his leadership and demand Zuba back.

Alex tricks Makunga by handing him Nana's purse.

"Does the strap adjust?"

"I believe this'll go very nicely for me when I go out hiking."

"But I'm afraid you're still banished." (Alex: We figured you'd say that.)

Nana attacks, kicking Makunga right in the crotch.

Makunga's defeat, as he is dragged away by Nana.
