Villain Overview

GOOOO... TOOOO.. SLEEP.
~ Jeff the Killer's infamous catchphrase.
I couldn't see my face. I got tired and my eyes started to close. I burned out the eyelids so I could forever see myself; my new face. What's wrong mommy? Aren't I beautiful?
~ Jeff to his mother.

Jeffrey Alan Woods (originally known as Jeffrey C. Hodek), also more commonly known as Jeff the Killer, is the titular main protagonist of the Creepypasta short story of the same name.

He is a teenage boy who endures a horrific incident where one of his bullies sets his face on fire. As a result, his face becomes deformed, but rather than being distraught, he develops a strange fondness for his new face. This strange liking for his deformed face gradually drives him to madness, leading him down a dark path as a serial killer, fulfilling his insatiable homicidal desires.

Appearance[]

Before he was burned by his bullies, Jeff's hair was originally brown, having normal skin, and a non-deformed face.

After he was burned by his bullies, Jeff has extremely pale skin and black hair, giving him a more ghostly appearance. Jeff later got his most distinctive traits, the Glasgow smile, that he had carved into his face with a knife, and his sunken, unblinking eyes from when he had burned off his eyelids with a lighter. His build is commonly described as slim but fit at the same time and reaching a height of around 5 to 6 feet (1.5 to 1.8 m). His clothing normally consists of a pair of black, skinny jeans with a white-hooded sweatshirt, sometimes stained with both fresh and dried blood from his victims.

Personality[]

Jeff appears to be an extremely cruel, sadistic, and insane individual. The smile on Jeff's face represents his sadism and overall bloodlust. His appearance shows just how much he will focus on harming somebody.

In many fan-made depictions, Jeff is primarily presented as a vain, narcissistic, emo-type teenager, who has absolutely no intention of following general rules and will only listen to himself. He appears to be a mastermind when it comes to his emotions, managing to hide them and constantly pushes the attitude of ignorance towards everything.

It is believed that Jeff is vain and full of his own self while others depict that Jeff hates himself and has numerous stresses over his physical appearance. Jeff is also depicted to have issues with people leaving and forgetting him in their lives totally. Before he had lost his mind, he was a very quiet and anti-social, and people didn’t knew much about Jeff. His voice also appears to be very eerie and soft, and he speaks in a rather calm and polite manner.

Regardless of these depictions, Jeff is primarily described as a brutal, psychotic murderer whose unnerving appearance makes it go without saying that he is so willing to inflict pain on others that the wills of those whom he chooses to unleash harm upon are almost always broken.

Family[]

  • Peter Woods † - Father
  • Margaret Woods † - Mother
  • Liu Woods (Homicidal Liu) - Brother

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Durability: Due to having a bottle vodka smashed over his head, being pushed into a shelf where a bottle of bleach was poured onto him, the vodka and bleach reacted to make ethyl chloride, which is known to be used as an anesthetic for young teens. Upon being set on fire, these chemicals had most likely become more reactive with each other, seeing that the ethanol and water contents within vodka cannot in fact react with each other. Due to the unnecessary amounts of dermal exposure causing sensory inhibition to his central nervous system, one of which include the neural impulse responsible for sensitivity to pain, giving his a fairly effective means pf pain suppression, Jeff has shown to be extremely durable to the point where he can withstand just as much punishment as he can give. It was to the point where this made it much easier to suppress the pain from burning off his eyelids and carving his own mouth into a smile with a chef’s knife. He can withstand massive amounts of blood loss to an extent, being shot multiple times, multiple knife wounds, being tortured, and even being impaled and still fight at his normal strength. Despite being a young human, this is why he is said to be extremely tolerant to certain types of discomfort.
  • Stealth: One of Jeff's most dangerous assets as a serial killer is his stealth, having avoided capture ever since he started his killing sprees. Jeff is capable of infiltrating homes, and can get into and out of houses easily without being heard or noticed. He has also been in public places and has blended in with society while remaining unnoticed/ignored, despite his clothes being stained with blood. Like most serial killers, Jeff can easily avoid all means of tracking, the massacre of whatever remains of his victims being the only things left behind. He can blend in with society and easily avoid being noticed by others. His presence can even mislead victims into believing that they can see him roaming their house.
  • Peak Human Speed: Jeff is known for being very fast on his feet. He is quick enough to dodge bullets/incoming attacks, appear to vanish in plain sight, and perceive time much faster than even the fastest humans. During his first encounter with Randy, Troy, and Keith, he had become so hardwired through the sadistic pleasure of causing them harm that the adrenaline rush from it had stimulated his heartbeat to the point where his blood flow was high enough for him to brutally incapacitate all three of them with seemingly no effort. Because he is such a good killer, there have been times when he has automatically evaded attacks intended to kill him, despite not having to think about it. This along with his frightening amount of stamina allows him to make for his lack of supernatural powers with extraordinary athleticism, extremely fast reflexes, and frightening stamina.
  • Peak Human Strength: Despite only being a teenager, Jeff shows to be much stronger than an average human. He is powerful enough to kill people twice his own size, break limbs with his bare hands, stop Randy's heart with a single punch to his chest, and rip a towel rack from a wall - easily breaking the metal pipework holding it in place - and use it as a weapon. This, combined with his murderous instincts, make him a dangerous and deadly killer.
  • Manipulation: In some occurrences, Jeff can present himself as a nice and charming individual, in order to manipulate his victim, with the intentions of backstabbing them in the near future. As a psychopathic serial killer unusually deadset on causing as much death as possible, it goes without saying that Jeff will go as far as blend with society to gain the trust of certain individuals, suppressing his murderous intentions while still retaining his desire to kill. He can hide his motives, allowing him to prevent his murderous aura from being used as a means to track him down. This is because while he was clinically insane, Jeff was aware of his actions, simply committing hundreds of murders, so it is easy for him to act the same way he was before killing his parents. In term, he most likely takes the time to plan out how to make his victims suffer at the highest degree.
  • Killing Intent: Due to his psychotic nature and overall bloodlust, Jeff has shown to utilize his killing intention to intimidate his victims to the point of having a psychological effect, easily breaking the wills of others. Victims usually sense his killing intent as a slight pressure or a chill upon being watched from beyond their line of sight, even when the person is unaware of his presence, the reason being that they are most likely Jeff’s next victim. What makes it so terrifying is that he can suppress it while still retaining the desire to kill as a means to prevent it from being used to track him down by hiding his true motives from others’ perception, rendering him completely unnoticeable to victims in case they tend to use to know when they are going to be attacked. Jeff can use this to blend with society, allowing him to hide his sadistic nature and use charisma before eventually revealing murderous intentions upon using the opportunity to attack, much like average serial killers. Because of his mind being hardwired with such an utter desire to kill, Jeff’s killing intent is strong enough to apply enough psychological pressure to discourage even the most courageous individuals into refraining from fighting him, submission, running off, or just freezing up with fear. This is powerful enough to kill victims by applying enough pressure to force their minds to believe that their death is actual reality. One example is one detective, who was working on a case involving Jeff, had perceived his menacing presence emanated throughout his house to the point where its intensity was strong enough to force the his mind to visualize a tactile hallucination of the broken corpse of a young female, whose identity couldn’t even be identified by the police. Despite seeming like a simple means of intimidation, the reason why Jeff’s murderous intentions have such a disturbing effect on the many victims who detect it is because of Jeff’s notorious knack for formulating ways to go about taking one’s life at whatever pace he wants to the point of having their will shattered under the weight of the pressure from the murderous vibes he would give off. In other words, if victims can sense his intentions, whatever they can assume he will do to inflict debilitating harm on them, he is more than capable of doing it. Due to how vast this knowledge of murder is, the real extent of this ability’s effectiveness is unknown.
  • Murder Methodology: Due to his unusual hatred and years of killing, Jeff has a knack for killing most living beings by easily exploiting their weaknesses. Because of this, his insatiable desire to kill is legendary, knowing enough about killing enough to figure out one’s weaknesses, even if they were to be supernatural creatures. As long as they have a weakness, this allows his attacks to harm them regardless of how powerful they are said to be. (weakness = potential lethality).

Weaknesses[]

  • Insanity: While he does have his clever and manipulative moments, it should be noted that Jeff is still insane, due to Central Nervous System Depression from the anesthetic neurological damage from being set on fire with a naturally produced chemical called “ethyl chloride” (anesthetic chemical produced from bleach reacting to the water and ethanol contents of vodka) poured on him (especially on his head). Because of this, he is most likely suffering from inhibitions within the neural impulses responsible for sensory neurons much similar to the numbness symptoms from frostbite.

Because of his insanity, he no longer has control over his bloodlust, and it will emerge whenever it does since this does not affect his homicidal urges. When he was set on fire while with bleach and vodka on him, it had inhibited his sensory neurons of his central nervous system, which decreased his rate of concentration on certain things. When his bloodlust emerges, it sometimes becomes overwhelming to the point where he is unable to think. He is prone to make unpredictable moves and decisions. Sometimes, Jeff will go straight for the kill instead of acting pragmatically and formulating plans.

Trivia[]

  • A reboot of Jeff the Killer, written by K. Banning Kellum, is available on The Chilling Tales For Dark Nights YouTube channel.
  • One of Jeff's most villainous acts were revealed in "Jane The Killer: The Real Story" when he murders Jane Arkensaw's family, friends, and his own family like in the original story and lights her on fire by using bleach and gasoline, leaving her scarred and disfigured. He did something similar to this act in her original story however it wasn't portrayed as dramatic as the latter.
  • On 24 June 2020, in Creepypasta Wiki, user named "T.Zar IZIS" writed a blog named "I'm the Creator of Jeffrey Woods Джеффри Вудс". In blog, she implied that she is the real creator of Jeff the Killer and Sesseur is not. Her Jeff the Killer's story is different then Sesseur's Newgrounds Jeff story and famous Creepypasta. In T.Zar IZIS's version, he is a 30 year old psychopath killer. Later a message of admin/moderator named EmpyrealInvective added to blog, saying that this topic is under review and T.Zar IZIS did not provide concrete evidence. Later T.Zar IZIS's Fandom account was deleted/disabled globally, either by herself or by Fandom, showing that she was lying. Her version of Jeff can be found on here.
  • The original version of the story also had Jeff being haunted by a supernatural demon named Angus Grimville.
  • Despite being one of the most famous Creepypastas, Jeff's famoud story was removed from the Creepypasta Wiki for failing quality standards. However, the remake of the Creepypasta remains on the wiki.
  • Jeff the Killer's story was featured on one episode of Internet Historian's series Sundance Rejects, which features the titular character being voiced by Top15's Chills.
  • A widespread rumor stated that Jeff's image was originally a picture of "Katy Robinson", the alleged sister of a 4chan user, who had committed suicide due to relentless cyber-bullying in the /b/ forum. This rumor was later on confirmed to be a hoax.
    • The original image is likely of a Japanese woman that goes by Mariko. Sesseur's mask story has been proven to be fake.
  • Due to the overall negative reception of Jeff's original story, several adaptations have been made, one notable one being David Near's new version of it, which is part of his series The Morgue Files.
  • In the 2015 remake of the Creepypasta, Jeff seems to be less villainous, as he had a much more understandable reason to attack his parents and he spared his brother Liu out of genuine love for him. Even if he were to survive in the original story-line, Liu would still forgive his brother despite suffering horrific injuries.
  • Jeff the Killer is have a wiki but wiki name turned into "Kittens/Jeff the Kitten: because admins jokes (people hated the joke) and since then the wiki name is still Kittens/Jeff the Kitten.
