Franklin Saint is the main protagonist of the FX crime series Snowfall.
He is portrayed by Damson Idris.
He is one of the three protagonist alongside Teddy McDonald and Gustavo Zapata.
Franklin Saint is a smart guy, opportunist, greedy and a crime and drug lord. He traffics drugs and is the head of a criminal organization The Family and is also a businessman at the head of the West-Side Development company, he has no scruples about killing and traffics above all in Cocaine and Cocaine modified into Crack called Base.
Biography[]
Childhood[]
Born in December 1963 in South Central Los Angeles, Franklin Saint lived with his mother Cissy Saint from an early age, while his father Alton Williams participated in the Black Panthers. After the divorce his father became homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.
Season 1[]
In 1983 he lived a normal life working in a shop, his life took a completely different path after helping his friend Rob Volpe buy Cocaine from an Israeli for a party, Avi Drexler was a former Mossad agent with his own syndicate and criminal connections to sell Cocaine, Franklin asked Avi to give him some cocaine to sell and Drexler agreed but only if he could sell it in a few days, Franklin Saint went to his uncle Jerome Saint a pot dealer who did not help him, however his Aunt Louanne Saint "Louie" took Franklin to meet Claudia Crane, the manager of a nightclub who was looking for Cocaine. After selling her, Franklin returned with the money to Avi and took more Cocaine. Franklin's uncle Jerome explained that the Yeyo cannot be sold in the black community.
Franklin continued to sell cocaine to Claudia while she returned one night with the money and was robbed by Lenny and Ray-Ray two thieves who work together.
After Leon Simmons found out the two went to the HTB Western Tribe where they recruited Karvel, a perverted and sick member of the HTB, after finding Lenny they beat him in his house even after torturing him he didn't want to talk.
So Karvel took him to the bedroom where he raped him, he managed to find the money but instead of giving it to Franklin and Leon he stole it and bought a car.
After taking a gun from Jerome, the two went to Karvel's house to kidnap him and put him in the car, they took him to Avi but he, angry, advised them to bury him in the desert.
Once he reached the desert he was tied up and Franklin pointed a gun at his head but failed to shoot so Leon Simmons killed Karvel.
After taking 4 kilos of cocaine he tried to sell them to Claudia who only accepted 2 kilos.
So not knowing what to do with the remaining kilos he asked for help from Jerome who instead of helping him took him to Knees, a former cocaine dealer, the two tried to scare him with violent stories about cocaine and who sells it.
Franklin returned shortly after to get information, he went to a Mexican neighborhood to look for Los Monarcas but was beaten by the gang, he was saved by an old friend Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata who convinced Los Monarcas Chief Stomper to stop his men.
Franklin went with Leon and his friend Kevin Hamilton to Oklahoma where Kevin's cousin, Devon, awaited their arrival.
Arriving from The Murder Dubb Devils MC the president Little Joe arrived late, so Franklin with the help of a drug addict found a drug dealer Reg, after seeing the kilos of coke, introduced him to Swim which is able to convert Cocaine into Crack , Swim and a colleague taught Franklin Saint how to do it.
Having arrived in LA together with his friends, he began selling Crack to junkies, becoming more and more powerful.
Franklin also managed to convince Jerome to join them by increasing their earnings.
After an argument between Franklin and Leon the two separate for a while, trying to apologize Leon returned to Franklin's house but was surprised by Lenny who shot them to get revenge on the two.
When Franklin arrived home, he hid the drugs in the house of his neighbors and his friend, then called an ambulance for Leon.
Seeking revenge he went to Ray-Ray to make a deal to kidnap Lenny and take him to Franklin.
Jerome and Franklin went to meet Ray-Ray and Franklin forced him to kill Lenny to make him an accomplice.
Season 2[]
During the arrest of Franklin's supplier Avi by the Los Angeles police, Leon was arrested and Franklin managed to escape, after paying bail for Leon, two thieves Biscuit and Jamal entered Jerome's house and were killed by his guard after hearing about the money.
After the Pico-Union murders by a Mexican hitman called Conejo of two drug dealers Victor and Delroy Hamilton of the Family, Franklin began asking around starting with El Oso and his colleague and lover Lucia Villanueva for information. After discovering that the killer was from Los Monarcas Lucia warns that killing or following him will have consequences. The Villanueva cartel contacted Franklin to tell them that in exchange for the recipe for his drugs they would tell the name of the hitman, however Franklin Saint refused the offer, unaware that Kevin Hamilton was acting behind his back in search of revenge for his cousin .
At Acuña Park Kevin had already caught the hitman Conejo and was about to kill him, but Leon and Franklin arrived and, trying to stop him from starting a war, shot him there. Officer Lorena Cardenas who was present spotted the two running away and went to check on Kevin. After Franklin found out that the bullet killed Kevin, he felt guilty.
After discovering the murder he tried to escape the city but first he tried to say goodbye to his mother but Sergeant Andre Wright and his men arrested him and placed him in custody, he was denied bail and he went to prison and was also transferred to the Pitchard Detention Facility. CIA agent Teddy McDonald freed him and Franklin began working for the American government.
Season 3[]
Franklin built a base during his cocaine business, he also left some of the dirty money in that warehouse, he made deals with Manboy of the Crips and Skully of the Blood while Andre was on his trail. Franklin had Leon execute one of his cucks who compromised his business during a police raid. Melody, Andre's daughter, began to derogate Rock and Franklin kills Andre realizing that it would only cause more damage to his organization. The policeman Herb Nixon was bribed by Franklin, meanwhile Melody found her house window open, the one where Franklin usually entered and discovered the body of her father Andre, realizing that Franklin had done it, during the funeral Melody went to Franklin's house and shot Franklin believing him dead.
Franklin then learned of the war between the Compton Crips and the Inglewods Bloods and his organization The Family weakened but it did not stop them from moving forward with the business.
Season 4[]
Franklin gave a job at Louie's new nightclub to his ex-girlfriend Tanosse with whom he reconnected. He tried to ambush Skully along with Manboy and Peaches and other of Manboy's men, Skully went to Franklin's ambush under drugs and fired a shot into the air and one of Manboy's men fired too soon causing the ambush to fail. Skully in revenge attempted to kill Franklin and eliminate The Family, in a Drive-By battle in Gardena many people died including Skull and Khadijah's daughter, Khadija daughter real father is actually Manboy. So Franklin went to war with the Bloods and Crisps after the battle to defend Leon, after Fatback's death at the hands of Khadijah and after wounding Louie at Fatback's funeral in a Drive-By, Franklin decided to bribe his friends, Dallas and Black Diamond, Jerome Saint thus managed to kill her. Manboy almost killed Tanosse after she tried to ambush him. He and his men were killed in the Tanosse neighborhood. During that time, he learned his father joined together with a journalist in exposing the CIA's funding of the Contra War. This created friction between Franklin and Teddy. Cissy and Alton agreed to leave the country and bid farewell to Franklin.
Season 5[]
Franklin Saint together with his new girlfriend Veronique has a real estate company that he manages with her and some affiliates, he also probably uses it to launder dirty crack money. Veronique was also pregnant with Franklin's child, Franklin's child was one of the few things that made them realize that she needed to start changing her ways for the better of her family. Franklin's father was missing. He had unfinished business with Grady Williamson. Jerome and Louie (who hired a corrupt cop) wanted to break away from the Family while Leon was managing a residential apartment. After killing Rob because he had told a drug dealer named Thad Brenner about the connections between Teddy and the CIA. Jerome and Louanne Saint helped Skully in killing his right-hand Mello who was trying to kill him, after that they met Franklin who who argued with Louanne over the separation of the two of them from the club, their separation gave Franklin quite a few problems especially after Gary's disappearance and Teddy McDonald's return in the game, After discussing a police raid led by the corrupt crash cop, Beau Buckley, at the black ghetto and hood of The Family. During the raid they send to the hospital many people including a Leon enforcer called Einstein, Buckley arrested Leon,Deon Barber and other gang members including Jerome who was there for an argument with a local rapper, Buckley upon seeing Jerome let all the important gangs members free.
Franklin's mother arrives leaving everyone amazed, she also goes to see Franklin and Veronique's office and meets Vanda who lived in her old house in Cissy, after a lunch with her family discovers that the person responsible for the death is Alton's disappearance or Teddy has returned and meets up with KGB agent Ruben who was introduced to her by Annah.
Meanwhile Kevin brother Kane Hamilton was released from prison and began organizing Drive-Bys on the Family, a member of the Peaches group betrayed them. Leon managed to talk to Kane and avoid a war. Franklin began to worry more and more about his family, understanding that it was time to leave the game. I therefore said goodbye to his partner Teddy and many of his colleagues. However, shortly thereafter Franklin discovered that nearly all of his money, approximately $75 million, had been stolen from his accounts by Teddy. Angry and looking for revenge against Teddy and Louie who had betrayed and abandoned him shortly before. Hired two woman Black Diamond and Dallas, after discovering that Cissy worked for the KGB he went with her to find Teddy.
Season 6[]
Cissy introduced to him Rubén who explained to Franklin that he wanted the world to discover that the CIA was connected to cocaine trafficking to finance wars against communism in other countries.
After Vee and her mother Cassandra found the accountant William Cox but Franklin discovered that he was serving Teddy for money and became increasingly impatient and angry he discovered that Jerome had killed Black Diamond for a theft, courtesy of Big Deon's double-cross. Additionally, Louie's Bent Cops raided and destroyed Franklin's home in the mountains. After finding Tedddy's father, a colonel, Franklin killed him while he was on a call with McDonald. Cassandra fled shortly after.
Meanwhile Louie and Kane were at war, Kane discovered that Franklin also wanted him dead so together with Todd, a man seeking revenge after a scar left by Franklin, they set out to find him. The two kidnapped Louie alongside Percy and Franklin after finding out he teamed up with Uncle Jerome, Leon, Ricky, Renny, Skully and the Bloods and a group of Family members. Arriving at Kane to save Louie many men died, shortly before saving his wife Louie Jerome was killed by Kane, who kidnapped Louanne, also died shortly after and after Jerome death everything changed for Franklin.
Franklin was later helped to search for Teddy by Oso after working for Tony Marino as a CIA and DEA agent. He made amends with Louie and turned her against Teddy. Franklin was picked up by Taddy and taken to his house but rescued by Oso shortly thereafter. Reuben who double-crossed them and Teddy were captured and tortured by Franklin. Saint tortured Teddy for a long time and managed to convince him. Teddy went to give the code to get the money back along with Stephen Havemeyer,Cissy Saint and Franklin Saint.
But Franklin's mother shot Teddy dead in the middle of the street, so that Franklin could no longer ruin his or others life for money. Cissy was later arrested and hated by Franklin for what she did. Teddy's handler, Agent Stephen Havemeyer, vowed to convict Franklin if he didn't turn over the KGB spy. After leading to Leon asking for money but failing, Franklin sold Cissy's old boss's properties for finance. After arguing with his pregnant girlfriend Veronique and putting his hands on her neck, she ran away and tried to sell some property and managed to steal 800 thousand dollars, an angry Franklin lost almost everything. He became increasingly violent and unpredictable, and Vee and many other people began to leave and abandon him. Vee swiped all the money he acquired from selling all the properties.
Franklin began to drink out of anger and sadness but did not give up on leaving his share of the money on Downtown Property. He tried to track down Vee and lost his friendship with Top Notch. After finding Peaches he killed him only to find out that he had spent the money. Franklin fell into depression and in the late 1980s began to become addicted to alcohol and became homeless following the same lifestyle as his father. He lost his family home after the bank foreclosed it. He also learned that he had a son. The last scene of Snowfall shows Leon going to find Franklin finding him in the middle of the street the two start talking and Leon feeling bad for Franklin gave them 20 dollars happy he went to buy beer, Leon talking to Franklin felt guilty and bad However, after Franklin got evicted from his old house Leon was trying to help him but Franklin greets Leon and started walking away. Leon tried to call him but Franklin walked without turning, he only turned to look at Leon one last time when he was starting to walk away.

It was Franklin's pride and ego that brought him to where he went to. The Downtown Property became the end of him as he'd rather it be ripped from his hands than sell it. Everyone he knew and loved saw how unhinged he became, let alone, was known to double-cross others by going for the deals that would best suit him, and they could no longer stand by him.

Franklin Saint is a boy who at the beginning of the season is loving, sweet and kind but without a real goal in life, he had people who loved him but he felt unmotivated without reasons to move forward, he needed to do something big to create an empire .
So over time Franklin Saint goes from being a normal person to being an unscrupulous, psychopathic and sociopathic person, who puts money before everything even before those he loves. however in the series Franklin will demonstrate that the people he loves, such as his uncle Jerome Saint who was a father figure for him and his friends who accompanied him from the beginning such as Leon Simmons, he loves them enough to not want to hurt them, at some point he will go to war with rival factions to defend his friend Leon, at times he has been guilty of killing his friends for money feeling deeply guilty, after the accidental death of Jermome, Killed by Kane, while trying to save his wife of Franklin he entered a state of denial which led him to have nightmares and hallucinations and heavy feelings of guilt.
After the end of the gang war, Franklin retires for his family and his daughter, however CIA agent and colleague Teddy McDonald stole Franklin's 73 million dollars leaving him poor, after taking the money Franklin goes crazy taking it to kill people he loves and the money left, after Teddy's death at the hands of Franklin Saint's mother who worked for him, Franklin will live a homeless life in solitude. From this it can be deduced that Franklin Saint is a person capable of loving but who puts money and career in front of those who love, the only time here he will not do it will be when he has a family and a daughter, however after losing them he will fall at the lowest point of his life where he will be able to kill anyone.
